  • While driving from Ohio to Western Illinois, I encountered a drunk driver. A few miles into Illinois, I looked in my rearview and saw a white Chevy truck on my tail. I got out of his way, and he passed me, changed lanes, and then cut someone off, almost causing an accident. I caught up to him just in time to see him almost cause another accident. I began tailing him and observed him drifting in and out of his lane. At this time I called 911, reported the incidents and relayed our position to the dispatcher. After hanging up with the dispatcher, I started this video.

    I live about 15 miles north of Martinsville. There are a number of fatalities on I-70 from the East side of Terre Haute to about this point every year. It is a dangerous section. Thank you for calling it in!!

    Nice work. Could have been way worse. He might be pissed, but he chose to drive when he couldn't and it's better than being dead or killing others.

    Did you set-up to record this, or do you have a doc in place so you can Dash Cam when needed?

    • @SilentGloves
      @SilentGloves  8 лет назад +2

      +Andrew Chason I already had my Sony action cam on my dash as I was filming time lapse of the road trip.

    Drunk driving is illegal in all states. Why aren’t breathylizers mandatory in all vehicles. That wasn’t a question. A simple deterrent required by all car makers can prevent a lot of drunk driving incidents.

      Why not just lock everyone up, then we'll have all our bases covered. Haha It's one thing to report a crime in progress, it's a whole other thing to unconstitutionally infringe upon people's right to be secure in their person when they haven't done anything wrong.

    All I keep looking at is the 430 on the dash wondering, is that his miles in his tank or how much further he has to go? Then it skipped down to 420 and then I was happy (wink wink)

    • @SilentGloves
      @SilentGloves  6 лет назад +2

      Ha! Yeah, that's my current range based on how much fuel is in the tank and current average fuel consumption. :)

      @Evo Dallas Luckily, I don't judge the right thing to do by its "coolness" factor. I judge by whether innocent people might get hurt by the action.

    • @SilentGloves
      @SilentGloves  5 лет назад +2

      @Evo Dallas I'm not a cop, no, but I know a few. And I'd much rather condemn someone to a night in the drunk tank and a court appearance than a serious prison term and a lifetime of guilt after killing someone due to a poor decision. I did this guy a favor. If you disagree, that's fine, but take your opinions elsewhere.

    Almost every single time I that I need to drive on a hway, I can pretty much count on seeing a police car every other mile! Sometimes I'll even see 2 officers within a 1/2 mile to a mile of each other........but when I watch these drunk driving videos and their on the hway, it always seems to be as if the closest police officer to them is like 15-20 miles from them! Seeing drunk drivers being so careless about someone else's life, makes me so enraged like nothing else ever could!!!

    I love to have my drinks. I'm kinda tipsy right now! But my ass is sitting in my house, watching dumbasses drive drunk, and risk other peoples lives, on youtube. There was a lady at the liquor store the other day, giving sample shots of tequila to folks. At first, I said no. But then she poured just enough to get on my tongue, and I tried it. Felt like I was doing something wrong, driving home from the store. I don't even take the first drink, if I am driving. I've lost too many friends that way. Either because they were drunk, or somebody else was, and they were unfortunate enough to cross paths. I know I take it to extremes, but I'd rather know I was fully aware on the road, if I were to get in an accident. When friends come and drink, they stay. When I go to friends and drink, I stay. Period.

  • @hankbridges5055

    Drunk drivers should lose their car for a year! Call the police immediately and update road changes constantly. They don't know where you are if you change roads. If you have a hard time seeing him, he needs to turn his lights on. Don't follow cars deep into unknown areas. Have a cellphone charger and keep it charged. YOU can end up out of gas!
