With all the great options Android offers, I'm wondering why he chose a folding one that obviously comes with alot of caveats.
My guess is he was never going to switch anyway, it was just for content.
I also wouldn't pick a foldable yet, but it's finally something new and different from the standard rectangles we've had for a while
My guess too,u just nailed it,the s23 ultra and the up coming pixel 8 is there ,why the flip or even the fold
@@RzExfeLI agree bro
@@RzExfeLdo you even know him (or atleast kinda) or are you completely new
From a neutral POV, the S23 ultra or Pixel 7 pro were more suitable for comparison, mostly because I feel like the video seemed to lean more towards highlighting the disadvantages of a foldable phone, not really those of android. Maybe I'm wrong...
The video is on his personal switch from iphone to android, so not a regular comparison video.
@@blankstatement1yes that’s what people don’t understand,it was based on his needs and it makes sense since he is the one switching .
You missed the point of the video. The video is for those audience that ask themselves “should I switch my iPhone to a foldable?” It’s not android vs iOS.
Precisely the point...its like comparing apples to oranges...
Bro s23 ultra already beat iphone 14 pm but this vid aint abt that its abt the flip
most of the issues you mentioned are either an issue with apple being apple and the fact that a feature (folding the phone) can also have downsides. There are of course tradeoffs but the fact that you're scrolling more because the screen is too little (7:50) is optional, you don't have to fold it to display content, if you want you could not fold it and set it against a stand just like the iphone.
Arun is most likely paid by Apple, he took a chunk of time to market Apple products. Arun gives a pass on Apple and then proceeds to blame Android, despite Apple being anticompetitive

As you stated, I think the transfer problem was because you went from an Apple to an Android. When I transferred from my Galaxy S10 to my S22 Ultra I had none of the issues you had. The transfer had only a few hiccups, usually due to older apps. But, the other issues, especially the Apple ecosystem, can never be matched with an Apple/Andriod interface. Apple to Apple will always win. For obvious reasons.
Apple to Samsung is even worse than to normal Android.
I had no issues switching from my LG k10 to my Galaxy M62
I transferred all my data from iPhone 11 to zflip 5 no issues
I like how all his negatives about the z flip can be fixed by switching to the s23 Ultra or even z fold 5
He wants the small flip screen on the back an s23 is basically an iphone that doesnt work well in his apple ecosystem and i think he said the z folds are too thick and heavy for him
This video ain’t about that phone, it’s about this one
I think he wants to compare Samsungs latest with iPhones latest

To be fair, Samsung's Smart Switch app works fairly well when switching from another Android phone (even from a non-Samsung one). I know from experience that switching from Android to iOS is a very difficult and buggy process (as I've had to help a friend do this), so it doesn't surprise me that the other way around is also problematic.
Google and Apple don't want us to switch.

Oddly. I've found my fold 5 has been a great swap from my 14 pro ... The large screen inside and the good sized outer. Perfect. Just worked.
just switched over from an iPhone 14 Pro to a Z Flip 5. i have some of the same gripes in this video, but i am having a 98% positive experience with the switch. the battery life and camera quality difference are my #1 concerns and are what i hope Samsung can rectify going forward. if i could get S23 quality photos on this and a little more screen-on time, i'd probably never own an iPhone again. only other gripe is that videos and voice memos get way over-distorted in loud scenarios (i'm a musician so i take a lot of videos at shows).
How’s your experience so far ?
Android does have an AirDrop equivalent now and it's called Nearby Share. I am surprised you never found out about it considering it's right there in the share sheet in this video at 11:23. However, unlike Windows you will need a third party app on Mac called NearDrop to use Nearby Share because Apple does not like to work with industry standards.
It's funny that the very reason you cited for staying with the iPhone (the ecosystem) is why I will probably never move over to the iPhone or even the Mac. I really like that Android and Windows work really well with each other and even try to work with MacOS and iOS as best as they can. The only reason they don't work as well with the Apple platforms is because of Apple themselves. Case in point - Windows does allow you to take phone calls from your iPhone or Android phone on your PC using the Phone Link app. Apple only allows this for iPhones because they don't care about you if you use an Android phone. I prefer using platforms and devices that don't have that level of elitism about themselves and just focus on the consumer regardless of which other devices they have.
I aint readin all that
@@jameelahmed2634 Yeah you'll see why people don't switch to Apple if you read it

So much fun and entertainment in one review!❤ you literally are the boss.
I liked the comparison, but would think the S23 ultra would be a better phone to compare. You're making hardware compromises when going with a foldable device. Especially in camera. I would love to see this redone with a flagship non foldable device.
0n the other hand you take better selfies with a flip because you can use the main camera.

I enjoy the hell out of my Flip 5. I had the 4 but quickly upgraded. I have always been team Samsung and android so I have no issues at all. I’m happy with my phone. I think it’s harder for iPhone users to leave unless they are really fed up with the state of Apple iPhone products. I have seen comments of Apple users leaving to switch to android just to get a fresh experience with the Flip 5. So it really comes down to what you are looking to do with the Flip 5
Had everything and was really disappointed, love the Apple integration, love my Apple watch as well. Respect for Samsung but they lost their charm.
@@rayquazahere8529Agreed, the whole ecosystems thing is way overrated.

Hey i still own a 4 yr old A70 and considering changing either flip 5 pr iphone 15 pro. Which you recommend?
By the way, you can use One Hand Operation+ in Good Lock to bring brightness adjustment and other controls to the side of the Galaxy phone, which you can access with a swipe from either edge.
I believe there's a setting to move the brightness slider, but there's an easier way to bring down the notifications. Swipe down anywhere on your screen. No need to remember which half of the status bar to swipe from. The face unlock is NOT from Samsung. It's the default Android face unlock. The Galaxy S8 line was the last Samsung to have the IR face unlock. I wish they still had it, but I also like not having a notch in my screen. Honestly, the captured audio from the closed mode sounds better to me. The flipped open audio sounds compressed, but I do like the color saturation more from the inside camera. The outside camera looks washed out. Even in the yoga photo, the inside camera photo would be the one I'd keep despite being a bit less sharp. What I'd like is a case with a nub to help with one handed opening. I know I'll get a folding phone, but I'm going to wait a few more generations. The Fold is currently more appealing than the Flip.

I do always wonder why so many tech-tubers glaze over and ignore Apples anti-competition practices. Locking you in to an ecosystem is the opposite of what technology should be doing for us as users, but the review community shrug their collective shoulders and say 'apple be apple'
meh it works
Because 90% of the population buying phones aren’t getting a new 1k phone every year. Maybe once every 6 or even 10 years so it doesn’t really matter. Also, Apple’s ease of use is high priority for most people buying tech because they don’t care about phone performance that much.
You can't have cake and eat it too. Why haven't Android made so many of these "features"? Because they can't. It won't work cross-device and cross-platform. That's why only Apple can do a lot of this continuity stuff. Yes it locks you in, but the alternative is not having the features at all, not having the features work cross-platform.
bruh you can have the cake and eat it too. They obviously can, samsungs ecosystem is pretty good too. Apple blocks it because they want more money. For eg. there are literally third party apps that allow you to use airdrop with android and mac, google has rcs which can talk with imessage but apple refuses to support it because green bubbles help them sell more iphones. its tech, not magic @@FPSKelly
@@FPSKelly as far as i'm aware pretty much all of the continuity stuff is possible with windows and android if you are willing to spend the 5 minutes to download something like iriun webcam and set it up on your phone and pc (btw iriun webcam basically does what continuity camera does, real useful stuff, i think it's been around longer too) it isn't something only apple can do, though i will admit that because of their tight control over the hardware and software it makes it significantly more seamless (in most cases)
You’re very well spoken! Thank you for the great video 😊
I don't know if it's the same for the flip5 but on my flip4, triple tapping the power button when the phones closed, brings up the camera automatically, which is super useful!
Normally I love what Arun does but even to switch from a flagship android to an android foldable would have the same problems. Wouldn’t a better comparison be a flagship Samsung Galaxy or Pixel instead of their foldable products. (Btw I’m a full apple user but I was looking forward to a better/fairer comparison)
I agree with this
Also flip phones dont really make any sense in practical usage, they are actually worse than classic smartphone because in order to get full experience you have to always unfold it and have ugly ridge in the middle. Fold phones are those that make actual sense because folded you have a "normal phone" and unfolded you get a tablet.

Thanks for this video! I’ve been debating whether to switch from iPhone and this helped me make my decision.
I like how imformative and thought through this video really is. I was sent this video by someone who thought this was all Anti-Samsung. (The reason for that is that half of the non-English native speakers mis understand the phrase "try doing something" thinking it meant, unsuccessfully trying something or in other words "tried TO do something". ). But what I - as someone who uses Windows and Android don't understand: Why do you need Airdrop, what does it do and how is it different to simply sending and receiving files via bluetooth? Like why would you need a dedicated app for such a simple function? Does a Mac not have a flie explorer?
Apple makes it intentionally hard for people to switch to Android. You get trapped in the ecosystem and it prevents you from switching 🤷🏿♂️
yessss i want to switch so bad but ive had an iphone for 7 years and i don’t want the hassle of transferring all my important stuff. wish apple would make the effort to work better with android
Bro you can create a new account
What you mentioned about the ecosystem dependency is so real. I switched to iPhone from an all Samsung ecosystem (TV, phone, earbuds, smartwatch) and it was so difficult. I couldn't use Siri to remotely control my TV whenever I couldn't find the remote (Bixby is so convenient that you basically don't need a TV remote control anymore, so I ended up not even searching for the remote anymore) With the iPhone everything felt so chunky whenever connecting the devices, not to mention that Samsung smartwatches don't work with iPhone, starting from Galaxy watch 4. I eventually ended up returning the iPhone and switching back to Samsung. It's crazy how you easily you can get stuck in an ecosystem without even realizing it, and then not being able to leave it easily.
iphone does the same, im actually convinced that the samsung ecosystem is apple's fault, bc avery samsung gadget works on ANY android
Samsung and Google home integration is awesome. Samsung has an absolutely brilliant modular smart home app and Google's is very simple. You can use both without conflict and it is so damn convenient.
I was stuck in the Samsung ecosystem because of Samsung Pay. I had a problem with Google Pay not accepting all my cards on their platform. So I had to stick with Samsung Pay(and a Samsung cell phone), if I wanted to pay with my phone. A little while ago, I checked again to see if I could add all my cards to Google Pay, and I could. I hate being tied to one cell phone manufacturer, so this was GREAT news. Google Pay can be used on ANY phone (including an iPhone). So I ditched Samsung, and switched to an Asus ROG 7. Since companies stopped making phones with removable batteries, my primary consideration for purchase decisions is battery life. The Asus ROG 7 has a 6000 Mah battery, compared to the next closest competitor (Galaxy S23 Ultra) with a 5000 Mah battery. Definitely better battery life than my previous Z Fold (4400 Mah).
In regard to iPhone? Even if I liked IOS, I would never switch because the largest battery they have is around 4300 Mah, with around 5 hours less battery life than my ROG 7.
@@Skibidisigmatoilet777 and every iphone gadget seemlessly works with any iphone

I really wish there was a way they could just make the inner screen out of glass on the parts that don't move, and somehow seamlessly switch it to plastic in the center where the fold is.

Hello Arun, I hope everything is going smoothly for you. I have a puzzling situation to discuss. I recently bought Apple Type C headphones, and they function perfectly with my iPhone 15 and Android device Mi 11X. However, I'm facing an issue with compatibility on Mi 11X Pro, despite both phones being from the same brand and having the same USB output. Could you help me understand the reason behind this? Additionally, I'm contemplating purchasing a Nothing Phone 2, so I would appreciate it if you could check the compatibility with these headphones on the Nothing phone as well, if possible. and could you explain why this headphone is compactible with some android phones and some are not, even in same brand.
Great comparison! Those 2 phones we`re the best choices for this vid! 100% could not have guessed this would be the outcome.
11:40 One word: KDE Connect. Initially made for Linux - now works with whatever you throw at it. Completel free. Completely open source. And still more reliable than most of the paid, propietary competition.
EDIT: Reminder to self: Never write jokes on popular videos. The amount of people who feel the need to tell me that "KDE Connect" is more than one word makes me sad.
Must be one of the niggles he was talking about
yeah. i also use it. it's just prefection.
I use it and love it
BUT
the 2 main issues wont make it a perfect solution:
1. you need to be on the same network. there is no sharing without internet. You could create your own home VPN.
2. If for some reason the connection break, you have to restart it. Sometimes the other device is not found, rarely sending doesn't work
How dare you even say the word Linux here, or like Arun calls it, lie-nus. You're going to be thrown out.
I'm pretty sure that's two word
I was in the same situation, but yesterday I returned my Flip 5 and ordered the S23 Ultra. This video clearly addresses my problems. I didn't know this video would be released.
s23ultra is absurdly exceptional
As an s23u owner, I am seriously considering fold. But once I saw how video-watching experience from inner screen wasn't drastically better than on s23u (that is with no zooming in video, mind you), I changed my mind. Fold's aspect ratio needs to be improved.
That's not even considering that the S23 will last you minimum 4 years with updates, while this flip I'd say that you'd be lucky to last a year
Foldables are still a rather young product. I understand they're fresh and exciting but they're a bit of a trap since they're still very flawed in a lot of ways compared to the tried and true slab smartphone design. People switch to foldables looking for something fresh, but once that freshness wears off they often realize it's a worse overall experience (not everyone though, some people obviously can live with the drawbacks)
@HABO2210 I have fold 5 tbh I think it's great
for the brightness thing that you told, when you swipe with your 2 fingers, it actually fully swipes up, so you don't have to scroll up 2 times. Honestly, scrolling up two times isn't really a problem for me, but you can do it.
Been an Android user from the off with the Tmobile G1 (which still works) it's amazing how far it's come.
Not sold on foldable phones (but each to their own). Neither am I sold on the customisation. I much prefer the cleaner Pixel series.
I would love to see what would happen if you choose S23 Ultra instead of Zee Flip 5 .
Looking forward too see another video with that.
Ooh, that sounds interesting.
lmfao
It really unfair if you even compare the newest IPhone,S23 Ultra is on another level
Comparing a top of the line iPhone with an innovative but relatively new foldable Android is kinda unfair tbh. Yes the Z Flip5 is iPhone level expensive, but it's a folding phone that compromises a lot for the form factor.
Yes that ain't fair
Iphones are set to launch in a month and we are seeing a video clearly bashing Android in an unfair match. I think I can see a pattern here
It’s not meant to be a comprehensive apple vs. android comparison. The question is if this folding thing for which apple has no equivalent is now a good enough feature to make up for other downsides it has as compared to his regular phone, which happens to be an iphone.
@@Sir_TophamHattthen the title shouldn't be switching from apple to samsung, it's misleading and super biased just like the mac vs windows video he did recently.

The samsung eco system is pretty good with the phones, buds, watches, soundbars, and tablets. For the most part the play nice together. And Dex is great!
When I had an S10 I loved Dex…until one day it black screened and somehow did a full system reset…All apps and settings wiped (user data still there). I thought it was unrelated to Dex until it happened again…and again. Samsung Support was very helpful in suggesting I try doing a full system reset 😂
I’m sure it’s better now, but with all the time it takes to customize the phone and settings, this bug cost me weeks. My time is too valuable to BELIEVE Samsung has a working product, when they don’t. Like the Smart Switch app.

@@Mrwhosethebossyou shouldve featured fold or s23u in this video but you chose the most inferior out of the 3 intentionally
@@sanveerkhanuja3249because the S23 is just a regular slab phone that does mostly the same things as the iPhone so why switch to that? The flip has a cool gimmick that makes u wanna try it out
And the fold is just kinda too big and cumbersome
It's crazy how much your videos have changed over the years. Instead of obsessing over the specs and what everybody else says ( like most reviewers ), you give us real life problems and benefits of the product. You tell us YOUR expirience, which most actually don't.

Regarding the laptop-phone interaction and lack of AirDrop, I think that KDE Connect might be a good alternative. I use it mainly to transfer files but it has a lot of features (notifications showing on pc, copy-pasting between devices, controlling media and more)
I use KDE Connect all the time, love the features.
Very fair review, I wish the comments would listen to the video, you clearly state that it's all personal preference and not a product review.
People seem confused about why you made this comparison, but it is EXACTLY what I needed. I’m thinking of making the switch from Apple to Samsung and the Flip has fascinated me the most. I’m definitely still compelled by foldables but I think I will actually wait for the tech to develop. This was so helpful for me. Thanks!
You could switch to s23 ultra. It is much suitable and comparable than the fold
Exactly what I thought as well
He tries all phones all the time its kinda hes job.
Same he could've chosen fold or s23u for the video but he chose Samsung's most inferior flagship intentionally so he can have the reason to not switch to samsung or android
He's just clickbaiting us at this point
Most apple users will never move to android.
They are already locked in that system. It will take them years to get used to it, maybe a a decade or two.
I switched from the iPhone 14 Pro to the Flip 5. It was seamless, though took a long time. I am loving going back to Android and especially the Flip.
I love Android, cause every time you buy a new phone, you can get one from a different brand with a different UI and strong points and design philosophy, it makes getting a new rectangular black slab exciting.

Niggles
He said Nipples.
@@TheEditor4587 lol 🤣😅😅😅
"Niggles" is a term often used informally to refer to minor or nagging issues, discomforts, or annoyances. These are usually small problems or concerns that might not be serious but can be persistent or bothersome. In everyday life, niggles can range from things like a persistent itch, a squeaky door, a minor headache, or a slight inconvenience like a delayed train.
Niggles are a part of everyone's life, and they can be found in various aspects, from personal to professional. Whether it's a small technical glitch on your computer, a minor annoyance in your daily routine, or a slight discomfort, niggles can be frustrating precisely because they're not major problems but can still disrupt our peace and require attention.
Addressing niggles often involves paying attention to detail and finding solutions to these minor issues, whether it's applying a little oil to a squeaky hinge, taking a pain reliever for a headache, or troubleshooting a coding problem in software development. In essence, niggles remind us that even small things can impact our overall well-being and need to be addressed to maintain a sense of comfort and efficiency in our lives.

The most I’ve spent on a phone , it seems pretty cool though. I got it on contract, thanks for the info Mr. Boss, appreciate it.
I got an iPad for the first time a while back and I now realise how effective apple's methods are to get you into their ecosystem. First off the product itself is fantastic but the way they make it so that if you choose lets say your apple id to log into things, it happens in seconds whereas if you used another login method it would take a bit longer. And the way that every product links to eachother makes you feel like you're always wanting more.
I run a work iPhone12 and have a Flip5 as a personal phone. I like both for different reasons but you nailed it with the Flip5 drawbacks - for me though, the fun of opening to answer a call or shut it to end is not wearing off (yet), watching quick videos on RUclips without needing a stand or a case with a built in stand or ring stand is useful (even if the screen is small), and holding it like a old school camcorder to take video means I take longer videos than I ever have before as its so comfortable. The cover screen also let's me use it onehanded which is super useful and is maybe 50% of interactions I have with the Flip. But I wouldn't want it for work use - the iPhone is just so much slicker and better to use when I really need it be working perfectly and consistently. I'm OK accepting some flaws with a personal device though.
Is it hard to use both android and apple?
@@Michael_Afton_the1st Its OK as theyre both for different purposes for me. Since I use iOS for work it's fine since I use different apps to Android
@@milinddixit6583Why would you need an iPhone for work?
I avoided Apple for decades, because it was just too expensive. Then two things happened - first, I purchased a Sony phone which was truly terrible and then someone gave me their old IPhone SE gen 1 and someone else gave me an old IMac. Now Apple have me trapped for life 😂 It all works well and I’m just too old to be bothered to switch - I just want to keep things simple.
I also have an iPhone 13 for work and flip 5 personal, the iPhone just seems boring now. I wouldnt use a flip for work, but im still having a fun time using it as my personal phone

Just got the Flip 5 for cheap trading in my Pixel 6 Pro (liked it but to much overheating to keep it). Love the small form factor I can leave in my pocket 80% of the time and then mostly use the front screen. The rest is just checking information using my "matching" smartwatch 6 Classic. I'm not young so I have much better things to do than stare at a phone all day but I do know a lot of people that need to carry a phone but don't use one very much. The combo should last me for years, and since phones haven't made any big leaps in at least five years, I can't waste money on nearly unnoticeable incremental changes.
I went into a best buy a few months ago and looked down the aisle of phones. Every single one looked the same. I've been using apple since the 5 and stopped at the 11. Little has changed. So little that I think technology has become stagnant and now we need innovation. I got the flip 4 for an msrp thats half the leading phones prices. I made the switch and am happy with it 7 months later. I also wanted a round smartwatch since the rectangle design was also getting stale. So I got a google pixel watch and its really good. The only complaint is that if you put your phone on silent, the watch doesnt copy thay setting. Otherwise, I enjoy my samsung more than my iphone and I find myself spending less time on my phone since the notifications show up on the outside screen. Overall pleased with my purchase.
I totally agree for the most part, i got my first folding phone with the zflip 3, and I'll never go back, but there definitely are some problems that still need to be solved

It’s still very bad I dropped my zflip and it folded the other way😢
Just pull down twice on home screen to adjust your brightness with one hand.
Your newest videos are so good at grabbing my attention while watching as compared to your old videos. I've noticed that in the new videos there is always something new or a new transition in about 7-10 seconds. I am absolutely amazed by this. I watched the video about the wallpaper that damages phones and compared, there was a big difference. Not being negative but something I definitely observed.
I don't think a short attention span is something you want to boast/advertise.
I noticed too. More flash, less substance. Bad trade.

Haha very funny with the cover on the video 😂
Arun. My honest feedback about all your videos. It feels so tiring maybe because of background music, it's too fast or light effects. I understand you try to cover max things in a short span of time but it feels like me going on a rollercoaster and would rather like to avoid it. Hope you do something.
5:53 , there is a double key press thingy in the advanced settings where if you double press the power button you can open an app , even when you are in other places
yeah i find this useful for firing up the torch quickly
The cable thing is that u need to open the smart switch app, connect the iphone cable and then connect on Samsung, took me hours to get it working but it aways works great when i do this way. Moved everything from iphone 13 to s23 and no regrets yet
as an apple enjoyer with the same macbook + iphone thingy going on, i’d still recommend trying out the pixel 8, that might the phone that could convert me so maybe it can do the same with you 🤷
Went from my 13 pro max to Flip 5 and I have no regrets, I love it. And the fact that there are ways to use iMessage on android makes there even less of a reason not to. It's just so fun to use and frankly I've just gotten very bored of iPhone

I've been using a Z Fold 4 (not Flip) and I love it. Being a writer, I've loved the extra screen real estate on the inside if I want to buckle down and (a) do some work on the go, or (b) play games; and while I can't wait for them to knock that thickness/weight down just a BIT, it really hasn't bothered me as much as you'd think it would. I use it closed up for "regular phone stuff" but for my personal use case, the big screen is just perfect. I wouldn't go back.
I've always been curious about these as I like the novel concept. I'm just not sure how I'd feel about the tactile feel of the crease.
Out of curiosity, what do you do for a phone case?
@@docaff Samsung's own one, I don't recall what it's called but it comes with a choice of s-pen (included) or stand and you can swap them out. Works reasonably well.
I haven't had a problem with the crease, but it's definitely noticeable when the phone is open. Maybe takes a bit of getting used to but really the best way would be to go to a phone shop and get your hands on a dummy model to see how it feels in your hand and if you think you'd like it.
@@theendlessoptimist cool. I wanted to check it out at the local Best Buy, but they wouldn't let you handle the display model (like alarms would go off if you picked it up) lol. Maybe I'll try a Verizon store.

Android pairs really well with Windows, Phonelink and Nearbyshare have done wonders.
I was really hesitant using a folding phone. I work through a samsung ambassador program where they gave us the flip3 at work, and then the flip 4. I really thought I'd hate it at first, but after having the flip3 for a year, my main issues were mostly addressed with the 4. The other main issue is the durability though, I had a noticeable tear in my screen in the 3 after a year, and I do have one with my 4, although its a lot less noticeable after a year with the 4. This was after a year in both cases and while my 4 looks a lot better after a year, I think as I approach the next few months it'll become a lot more of an issue that I can't ignore.
this is true. I mean it’s bound to happen bc of the use of the fold putting pressure/stress on the screen.
Exactly the reason why I don’t want a foldable!
