It is estim ated that 1.5 m illion Am ericans are currently diagnosed w ith Parkinson's disease. 50,000 to 60,000
    more are diagnosed each year.
It is believed that 10% of these are under 49, w ith a good m ajority in their late teens, 20's, 30's, and 40's. These
individuals are graduating college, starting careers, relationships, families, and trying to build a future for
    themselves and their loved ones.
These are referred to as being diagnosed as "young onset".
    ABOUT THE PROJECT
The film project is a documentary that will give the audience a front row seat into the normally private lives of six
people diagnosed w ith young onset Parkinson's disease. The film w ill be unscripted, real, at times humorous and
other times shocking. It will show them living life as close to or better then before diagnosis. It will show them
accommodating these symptoms and side effects despite the daily challenges thrown at them by the symptoms
of the disease and side effects of the various medications.

Tom was the first person I reached out to when my husband was diagnosed at age of 36.
Unfortunately, he passed several years ago but he helped me in so many ways.

Hey I'm just 17 I was diagnosed with Parkinson my dream is to become a football player. Before getting this disease iam the best player in our team now iam the worsest player in our team so I stopped playing for tournaments. At first time I think about suicide but i realized that was not a solution. In short sentence I can say Parkinson fucked up my dreams, passion, and my gf breakup with me such a worse human in the world iam 😭💔

My Father died on Sat 21st feb 2009 after suffering with Parkinson's for 4 yrs. He was 58. To the people he met through the Parkinson's society & other suffer's who have developed Lewy Body's dementia through the illness,
my heart goes out to you all. For your strength and fortitude. The horror that this illness robs people of their physical & sometimes , mental strength is an injustice that is almost too difficult to bare. I send my most heart felt hope that a change will come.

Thanks for posting such a well done chronicle of your life with PD. It is an inspiration to us all with early-onset PD...that diagnosis does not equal death sentence. May I post it on the Dopadoc's Parkinson's Journal?

FANTASTIC video! My hat goes off to you. In the middle of the video it shows you coming back from the bathroom in the middle of the night. I noticed that in one of these instances you crawl back to the bathroom. If it's not too much trouble, can you explain why you crawled instead of walking back to bed that one time?
Any chance you can tell us your first symptoms and what tests were donee before you were diagnosed with the disease?

What where.your first symptoms? I am curious because at the age of 17 I started having tremors in my hands and started shacking all over my body turn out I was having panic attacks.. Its been over a year since I was hospitalise I don't have tremors anymore but I still have a stiff neck my mood hasn't been the same. But I may also add that I took Lamictal for about 2-3 years and stop cold Turkey which I think cause all this...

Thomas, research has shown stationery cycling at 80 rpm or walking at 2 miles per 40 minutes can halt and reverse many PD symptoms. Talk to your doctor before you do it.

+Sassy Cat You don't need to say it so negatively, that's my dad and yes he passed away due to pneumonia, sepsis but overall due to the Parkinson's because it left him with close to no immune system. Without the Parkinson's he would still be here.

I am happy you enjoyed the piece. A hero? i dont think so. Crazy for showing my most private moments to the world in order to raise awareness? Definately!
Now only if $15,000 would fall into my lap so my filmmaker and I can finish the documentary. He has 5+ hours of me but we also want to add the positive stories of at least 5 or 6 others.
