- Classic Game Room HD reviews SPACE FURY for ColecoVision from 1982. Space Fury was originally a Sega arcade game from 1981 where you fight the dreaded Alien Commander in space with fury! This is an entertaining Asteroids style game where you fend off waves of enemy vessels before they form a larger spaceship that shoots fire balls at you. Space Fury is pretty cool and this CGR review of Space Fury has gameplay footage from Space Fury from Sega for Colecovision. If you have a Coleco Vision and enjoy arcade video games then you may want to check this game cartridge out. The packaging is awesome and features the original Space Fury wood grained arcade stand up coin-op video game.
Loved playing this on the Colecovision as a kid. Still have the game too. Just haven't hooked up my Colecovision in many years.
I remember playing this over at a friend's house for hours. He had a lot of cool retro games.

How can he not be familiar with the Arcade Space Fury?! I remember seeing it one day in the arcade as a little kid and the alien's face suddenly appeared between the game demos and said,"Is there no commander mightier than I?!", or something to that effect. It almost gave me a heart attack! XD
Man,,hearing that weird music from this game,,,,,, reminds me of the mid-80s ..Talk about flash back...........Thats was awasome to hear that after 25 years.

The alien guy seems more detailed in the ColecoVision game than the arcade version.
That spaceguy and startup song freaks me out.

you should really give the arcade version a try. it has great synth speech...quite a lot for a game of it's time, and it's also a vector graphic game. come to think of it, this would have made the perfect vectrex port.... oh well.

SEGA is around 50 years old, actually. They started making jukeboxes and other coin-operated machine since the late 50's.
The "glitch" was probably a dirty cartridge. I played the beejezzus out of that in my day and don't remember that glitch.
YEAH ON PSP. the Commander speaks to you through what sounds like a Speak-n-spell or possibly Charles Dodge's synthesizer.
I bought it at a local used game store. It was mixed in with a bunch of Atari 2600 games.

It sounds like it was taken from Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" which was also covered by Emerson, Lake, and Palmer.
The arcade version of this game scared the living shit out of me as a kid.

AMC Eagle? I think the Dodge Caravan is the most famous vehicle with wood on it

This is a great version. The arcade version was in color vector graphics with talking! There's a home brew called Space Frenzy for the Vectrex. Go to John Dondizila's website. (Classicgamingcreations) It's only $20 for a copy!
I love how you hook up to a gun armor at the start of each life.
lmao dreaded space commander alien dude us FTW. Also those enemy ships look like tetris blocks and they merge into voltrons wtf xD OMG NOW THERE GONNA SHOOT FIREBALLS. Choosing your powerup shooting style is pretty neat for such an old game too.

Your ColecoVision seems to have a problem. Maybe the power cord is not connected properly or stable enough. If you have a second power supply for it, try it.

This was one of my favorite colecovision titles! I think I still have it in the basement somewhere. There is another very similar game on that system that's like a mix of asteroids and frenzy/pacman because you had a maze or simple rectangle map on screen and you could bounce your shots off some of the walls. Was a ton of fun in 1 vs 1. Kind of like a very early predecessor to star control.

For the longest I was trying to remember what the name of this game was. All I could remember were these blocky ship things I had to blow up and this ugly guy calling me an "adequate opponent".
