  • In this video, I show you how to comply with fire regulations in your HMO. We touch upon the different fire systems and coverage areas, escape routes, etc. and how to use the LACORS guide in determining what standards your specific HMO requires.

Interesting stuff. I usually do single let properties and am now moving into the HMO business and want to make sure that I am fully compliant, so this video was very useful. Thanks for posting it!

Hey, glad it was of some help :) Good luck with everything, I'm sure if you're watching videos like this then you'll do just fine. I'm thinking of creating a video series on all the basics of lettings, potentially in the new year now (as super busy at the mo). So keep an eye out on our socials for more :) Thanks. Oli

not all councils use lacors so check as a few have their own different set of fire rules eg bedfordshire

I would, personally, ensure that LACORS as well as local council rules are being met and if the councils measures are below what it says in the LACORS, always go with doing which ever is greater protection to cover you. If the worse case happened and you were in front of a judge, you would have clearly demonstrated you had done everything in your power to ensure the property was compliant. Also, Crawley council (ours) used to not stipulate things in the LACORS, but we did them anyway.. then a few years later they implemented them... so we have nothing to implement moving forward as where others do. :)
