      Hi Tom great content. I was told the salt on the lake this year was the best it's ever been in decades and great for setting records.

    • @tomeighty
      @tomeighty  3 года назад +2

      @@basedsalty6970 Yeah I heard the same thing too. Seemed the same to me but I think the difference was that there was no "Soft" spots on the track that is like sand and can spin a car out.

    My dad has the K/BFS record😎. Cool that you broke it down. It's second nature to us, but I can see how it's confusing to the newcomers

    • @tomeighty
      @tomeighty  3 года назад +1

      Wow that is awesome to hear he is in the record books, congrats on that 👍 And thank you about the break down of the letters on the race cars, I wanted to get it across to people with out it sounding boring or dragged out. Hopefully I did that and gained a few new fans to the sport. I sure like going out there and enjoying everything that is going on. I hear so many people saying it is a bucket list thing to do, and I'm thinking not really just put it on the calendar for next year and make it happen. I drive over 2,000 miles each way to get there, it's not that big of a deal but it does kind of suck because I use to live in Salt Lake City back in the early 90's.

    Outstanding!!!
    The last pure motor sports!.
    No hype. No TV (unfortunately). Just speed...
    Nice class details for those who don't know.
    Back in '89/90 Don Berg of the BMR/Berg-McAllister-Robinson '32 coupe had his shop next door in Pasadena, Ca.
    An unblown GMC fuel coupe.
    168mph. Record and season champs!

      Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I will be doing the same thing for my video for next year. It does take a bit longer to make the video but I agree that it makes it so much more interesting with the details of class/category/ and what record they are going for. I like evolving in the video world and hopefully this was one small step. ha ha. Have a great Friday! Tom

    I've said it before, but gawd what gorgeous cars, rolling sculpture of the first water. There ought to be awards for that, too. And if I may make another suggestion, I think it would be cool to see these cats at the other end. Coming safely to a parachute-aided stop carries it's own thrill. Imagine, you've just broken, say, 400, you're still stable and in controll, however precariously. And now you only need to take it to zero without going spectacularly sideways. Yeah, I'd love to watch those, down to the phew! of relief.

    This was well worth doing Tom! 5:05 That was Mike's daughter driving by the way. 6:44 They upped their own record from 353mph. 10:43 Black Salt has actually gone 380mph on one run but couldn't back it up for a record. A record is the average speed of two runs. 15:47 RonnyRoadster, this is Flathead Ford powered & they upped their own record which is actually faster the blown overhead valve record in the same class.

    • @tomeighty

      Thank you for that detailed info on the racers. As a spectator you don't get to know those little details that are going on right in front of you. Also I was really wondering what Black Salt could do on a good run, 380 mph is pretty wild. Thanks for the great comment!

    Two thumbs way up. Fabulous! I love detail, and you gave me a truckload. Many thanks. And, may I say, you do an overall terrific job on your videos. Keep 'em coming. BTW, I had two Studes as a high school lad, so I've an inkling as to why they did well on the Salt. The marque is gone, but the records live on.

      Thanks buddy, I'm glad you liked it. It took me a lot to get the details of each car and run but I love everything about this event and all the details about it so I had fun gathering all of it. I think I will keep doing 2 types of videos only because I think a lot of people don't want the details they just want to look at the vehicles going down the track. Did you see my video from last year at all? That was a good one too, thanks for watching, Tom ruclips.net/video/d8K0et05uDE/видео.html

      They are trying to beat Land Speed Records in various classes.It's a completely different sport than drag racing, with different rules, and going back more than a century. A dragster can claim to go the fastest quarter mile in its class. These vehicles can claim to be the fastest in their classes, period. A mile both ways, average speed. Something a dragster cannot do.
