First time i've made an item of clothing since starting crocheting a year ago and loved making this. Your tutorial was easy to follow and bought the pattern too so can keep making them. My three year old Granddaughter will love her first poncho.

I made this for my granddaughter.. I used the big twist yarn, watermelon & I ordered from Premier Value Pompom yarn.. double strands and it came out beautiful! Just wanted to say thank you, you explained the process eloquently and in enough detail ... my crochet runs amok at the beginning and ending of rows, not now as you have explained how to do both. There’s only 2 people that have the best tutorials that are the easiest to follow & one is Crystal. With this pattern I blew by 3 corners without crocheting 4 double crochets or the 2 clusters & so far the poncho looks great. I’m so surprised, I can’t tell, so far. If I didn’t have ra I would unravel, so it’s rare that I start over. Also, I wish I had gone with the 5.5 hook since I crochet a little tight & the baby’s head is huge. She will still be able to wear it one season, maybe two.
I see a lot of people asking for starting chain counts.
I was also asking what the count was for increasing or decreasing size and looking through all the comments a lot of people are asking and haven't been answered.
I figured for my #3 yarn size 4.5 hook I'm doing 19x4 =76+4=80
Starting chain of 80. So 19 stitches between points. 😊
So any number dividable by 4 and add 4. Hope that helps!
And i added a hood using same 2 row repeat leaving a 10 stitch opening at front. Repeat till you get the length you want for the.hood and turn inside out and crochet together. Good luck. Love this pattern. ❤
Also I made a size 3-6. #4 yarn and size 5.5 hook.
13x4=52+4 = 56 starting chain. 13 stitches between points. Turned out amazing! Good luck!🎉

I made this one for my 3 year old with rainbow striped yarn. I extended the collar a bit and made a ruffled edge instead of the frontposts double crochet and fringe. As always I love your tutorials!

This yarn reminds me of the Big Twist Rainbow Classic yarn from Joann in comparison to weight and texture. It is also classified as a bulky 5 but works up like a worsted 4.

Working on this in a red latte cake with a 5mm hook for a 4t size. Only about half done and you can’t see a lot of detail but I think it’ll be adorable for Christmas!
