I have not forgotten them. Pity on those who have. Those brave flyboys those gentle heroes who saved England from a certain defeat. From RAF UK & other Common Wealth 1822 - (Squadron Leader Mahinder singh Pujji - 1 from India my country fought well slightly wounded but survived the battle 10 kills to his name), 56 Fleet Air Arm, 141 Polish, 86 Czech, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, 7 American, 26 Belgian
I am an American...And, will never, ever forget the "few"...We owe so much to those young men...Many of whom barely out of their teens and never having a chance at life and living gave their's so we might be free...
What I love about this ending theme is the soft, gradual opening. It conveys the sense, as the movie shows, of stepping outside into a clear day and realizing..."we've won".
Olivier came out of Dowding’s actual office for this sequence and for much of his performance had Dowding watching him, which can’t have been easy. Despite what some critics say Olivier knew an epic script when he read it and as probably the greatest and most prestigious actor alive at the time was happy to pay the key role in one of the most important stories ever told, - as were other greats like Sir Ralph happy to have cameos in this monumental film.
''NEVER IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN CONFLICT WAS SO MUCH OWED BY SO MANY TO SO FEW'' - WINSTON SPENCER CHURCHILL (WAR PM OF ENGLAND) - RESPECTS FROM INDIA IAF TO RAF. Ending credits fills my eyes with tears. (Other movies on Battle of Britain - Based on True Events. Movie Plot - From July uptil November 1st week 1940, The Royal Air force fights a desperate battle against the might of the German Air force (Luftwaffe) for control over the skies of Britain thus preventing the threat of certain Nazi invasion. Other movies on Battle of Britain:- 1) Reach For the Sky (Kenneth Moore) - fine movie based on the life of Bob Ace Sq leader Douglas Bader. 2) Angels One Five - sad war drama 3) Dark Blue World - Amazing war story of Czech pilots of RAF. 4) Hurricane - Story of brave Polish pilots of RAF during Bob 5) 303 Squadron (Dywizjon 303 Polish movie foreign language) Same as Above 6) Mrs. Miniver - Another wonderful innocent movie with a beautiful beginning to a sad ending. 7) First Light (2010 tv) brilliant 8) Hope & Glory 9) Piece of Cake but Battle of Britain is a masterpiece best of the lot. International Star Cast - Christopher Plummer, Robert Shaw & Curd Jurgens.
Why am I not shocked the Irish lost 0 pilots during The Battle of Britain. While I think they drink a bit to much for their own good sometime, I'll always commend them for being amazing fighters. Don't get me wrong all the groups who flew in the Battle of Britain to defend Britain have my total respect and I'm not even British, cause it shouldn't take just a British person to see the hard efforts all those brave pilots pull off. :D
I love these end credits - so unique amongst movies in recognizing the valour and sacrifice made by ordinary, brave humans, regardless of race or allegiance. And yes, Goodwin's graceful theme suits the end better than Walton's imperious march. The effect, all in all, is rather moving and probably belongs on the list of things that can bring a tear to a grown man's eye.
1 Israeli KIA in the Battle of Britain?? Israel did not exist in 1940. This man was from Palestine and therefore was a Palestinian. He was probably trained by the RAF too as Palestine did not have an Air Force in 1940
ahh-- the correct "heavenly" music and credits from the VHS version. The DVD version has "regular martial" music that is uniquely unsatisifying -- and the wrong quote from Churchill. Only "the few" quote is appropriate in this case. To all you Yanks who may be reading this -- the Brits really pulled western civilization's butt out of the wringer in the summer or 1940. They were alone against the darkness -- the Russians would not be in for another year and 18 more months for us.
No need to loose your temper. The right thing, whatever that is, is irrelevant as only historical facts are relevant in relation to the nationality of the flyers in 1940. The last man mentioned in the list was a Palestinian in 1940 from the British Mandate Territory of Palestine after the Ottoman Empire was foolishly broken up after WW1.
Opps I just checked the video. The Palestinian did not die in 1940 but he may have later in the war or lived. Are RAF flyers who immigrated to Canada, Australian or NZ after the war still British or citizens of the new country in 1969? The time line for the Battle of Britain is 1940 not 1969
In 1969 he had been dead for 29 years so he was not Israeli. Yes he may have been Jewish or Christian or Muslim but so what. In 1940 Israel did not exist; end of story.
Let us never forget them. This piece of music cuts through me like a knife every time I hear it........wonderful.

Im blotting tears out of my eyes even now
I am an American...And, will never, ever forget the "few"...We owe so much to those young men...Many of whom barely out of their teens and never having a chance at life and living gave their's so we might be free...
Let us never forget Josef František, a Czech ace with the 303rd (Polish) Squadron with his tally of 17 downed Huns and the other brave lads too :)
What I love about this ending theme is the soft, gradual opening. It conveys the sense, as the movie shows, of stepping outside into a clear day and realizing..."we've won".
God bless them all. What a great life my family are enjoying because of their sacrifices.

And more respect to the Irish volunteers who ignored their own country's neutrality to volunteer to fight Nazi tyranny.

For victory there is always a price
damn, the Australian casualty rate sucked hard - 67%

brilliant sound track
They edited some things in the D.V.D. version.

For your freedom and ours!! May the Polish (Czech, Belgian and all the others) sacrifice to this island not be forgotten!
Czesc Ich Pamieci!
*Czechoslovak not Czech
Some people forget about the Polish and the non british in this war. Without them the UK would have been in trouble. I am british.
Mk Ely Nah no one forgets em
Who says so. It all happened in 1940 not 1969. What is your obsession with Israel which was formed in about 1948 in Palestine?
I cannot find this track

Everybody who is thinking of voting Tory on the basis of immigration at the next election should be shown this video.
