I currently work at STARBUCKS. And I’ll just say that the most useful skill that you gain from working there is how to be timely and efficient. Everything there is built for speed. STARBUCKS espresso machines don’t even have port filters. They are automatic machines where you press buttons for different number of espresso shots and types. You do not need to know the arts of making the best cuppa coffee or avoiding the worst. You just need to be fast. That is what you’ll learn as a barista working at Starbucks at least at this point in time. Every time I am on Hopar, I am trying to yield the best shot, steam milk perfectly, homogenize the syrup, while cresting tulip on top, but this will make your coworkers wonder what the hell is taking so long for that drink…..
The new Starbucks coffee machine sucks. Ever since they stopped letting you put in your own sugar and cream the place has gone downhill. FYI the beans they use are garbage.
The aeration is 3-4 seconds for latte 5-6 seconds for caramel macchiato and 7-8 seconds for cappuccino. The temperature is now 71 degrees as standard (used to be 63) flat whites changed from 55 degrees to 71 aswell. And extra hot goes to 77 degrees. The sirens eye is now all digital so we have to download apps on our phones with all the recipes
I got myself an Aeropress few weeks ago. If you want a quick, easy and delicious cup of black coffee that is the way to go imo,and it's more tolerant of any negative variables you might have such as water temperature and bean grind size since its an immersion style brewer
Hey Connor great video very informative, always look forward to your next video. Could you tell me what the chocolate is your using for your hot chocolate. Your tash is looking mighty fine. 👌
1:20 Just a slight correction. Caramel macchiatos get 1 less pump of syrup than their latte counterparts (to offset the caramel drizzle on top). So, a tall would only get 2 pumps (10mL) of vanilla syrup.
This is why I make everything at home now haha! Much more fun and you can up the quality :) Also please please make a video on latte art, the cafe I work at doesn't teach or require it so I am desperate to learn!!
starbucks talls (12oz) get 1 shot espresso grandes (16oz) get 2 shots espresso venti hot (20oz) get 2 shots espresso venti iced (24oz) get 3 shots espresso shaken espressos and americanos automatically get an extra shot no matter the size :)
I know you probably get this question a lot, but can you recommend an espresso machine for home? My machine is on it's last leg, its double shots are over extracted.
i’d also like to add that when i completed my week of training they were pretty much like great you’re trained good luck and i was just on the floor doing everything everyone else was but much worse
as a sbucks barista our mocha is HORRIBLE we all hate it 😭😭 fun fact though, it’s vegan (there’s no dairy in it it’s a bag of powder they give us and hot water whisked together)
Well he said for learning to be effiecent and fast yes but for really learning to get quality no. But i would recommend just to get into what feels like the least struggle cause for the start it really does not matter

You’re clearly working at the wrong place! Wasted talent, look for a real cafe!!🤓👍🏼

Really enjoyed watching your video Connor during my wash up here in the kitchen today thanks a lot!
Any tips on a beginner machine and grinder?????
The best thing that has come from me getting into making coffee is that my girlfriend doesn’t order Starbucks delivery anymore.

For the next session, how about the Affogato and Cortado? Great under-rated drinks. Also, that hat looks great with your mustache😂

as a starbucks employee i know the answer is no already and i’ve only watched the ad before this haha
i’d also like to add that when i completed my week of training they were pretty much like great you’re trained good luck and i was just on the floor doing everything everyone else was but much worse

So right! Black coffee at Starbucks is like gas station coffee tar.
Fantastic video as always sir
💗💗
Interesting video thank you.
If you could do it all over again, would you say Starbucks is a good starting point to become a barista?
