Delighted you're posting so often on BAR and especially with commentary (much more insightful for us). I have high hopes that this game upon future release will make a difference for the RTS genre and you as well by extension :D
I think the math point you wanted to make and kinda trailed of midway between was: 4000 metal until you get something back from going T2 eco while on a T1 eco (say 20 metal per second) means for 200 seconds (~3,5 minutes out of a game that is at that point maybe going for 10 minutes!) you're not contributing to holding the line.
Lua is a scripting language designed to be embedded in something like a game engine or like adobe products, it's high performant for a scripting language. Lua is developed in Puerto Rico and means 'moon' in Portuguese.
If you hold alt while reclaiming a building it'll reclaim all of that building in the circle. Helps getting rid of old solars. Also, this works if you want to rez the units in a zone and only reclaim the scrap on the ground (hold alt and hover the scraps and make a circle) Loving the coverage and tips!
I was really paying close attention when you were talking about the build power point you were making. I would love to see a video about build power and some strategies around how to utilize it effectively.
Its amazing how many people argue about stuff that they can google in 5 seconds. The teeth like structures in a penguins mouth are not technically teeth just like a narwhal doesn't technically have a horn.
the bit at the end with the forced cinematic mode happened to me in a game I was playing against bots. I had to pause to take care of something and when I came back it became that. Some kind of glitch with the pause button for sure that somehow causes the HUD to disintegrate until the match ends.
So interesting watching several of the BAR RUclips channels and hearing differing opinions on wind vs. solarearly on. Obviously on a low wind map there's no choice. I guess I like solar because I hate to stall with low wind which causes me stress out and to make mistakes. Of course I'm also an idiot playing 1v1 AI games on huge maps thinking I'm going to our APM a quad core i7 with dual threading.
A real easy target i have found for raid is the construction turret : they have low health and explode and if you destroy them all you just cripple the build power
@@fabienherry6690 Haven't done that myself yet mainly because I don't use air till late game myself. Probably too high level of a tactic for me though.
@@clonezero_RR T1 lab don't cost to much 690 so around the price of a good T2. I have a strat where i rush T2 and air lab i deliver T2 const to my entire team at around 11 minutes (and like IN their base ^^ )
About 14 mintues in game, before the t2 con ferry back for fusion, I'd like to build 1-3 t2 pop-up turrets. Think of it as a planetary fortress at the fourth ^^
Hey man. I need help. My construction bots that come from factory dont go to waypoint. When they come out they stay at factory and assist it to build. How can i change that
LUA is the Portuguese word for "moon", I dont know why they choose this name, but this is a programming language designed in the 90s by a team of brazillians. Largely used, so far as I know, for scripting and not actually for making applications.
Save 500 + 2900 with a donated t2 con? How do you save the factory cost, don't you have to build a t2 factory still for t2 units anyway? I always assumed the donated t2 con was just to start getting a higher metal income before sinking the factory costs.
The payback time on advanced metal extractors is so fast (about 6 metal per extractor per 2 metal deposit per second), that just getting them out a couple minutes faster means that you get about 600 metal per deposit. On this map, winter has 10 deposits. (we will ignore the cost of the extractor because you are paying that eventually anyways, but note that the cost is real and large, so having your money sunk in a factory will delay your upgrades even if the factory doesn't cut into your ability to make build power. If he had just spammed T2 units and build power, donated 1k metal to his team mate to give him a constructor and this resulted in him getting his mexes, on average, 2 minutes fast, this would be a net gain of about 6000 metal, even after subtracting the 1k metal you would give to your teammate to downpay your constructor and speed up his tier 2 timing. this would EASILY pay for his tier 2 factory, and subsidize his tier 1 unit spam in a major way.
Hey Winter, small casting feedback: i like watching the battles, especially the backline runbys or bomber runs. On player cam you often look away once you sent units in that direction (i assume because the problem is solved or micro is not worth it.) So if i want to see what happened i have to speculate based on what ruins i see later on. Also if you zoom in i have no idea what i might be missing, so i prefer big zoom ins on stuff you want to highlight.
How do I get good, what's the best way to practice, I keep jumping in big multiplayer games and just failing to scale eco, just completely stall out after 5 minutes
Advance solar + metal converters helped me alot. I always build them in pairs ( 1solar+1 converter) whenever I have metal to spare and it helps me work my way up to t2. If there are bodies of water nearby, tidal generators are better as most maps you get around 20en for 90 metal. Reclaiming nearby trees are useful if you have energy issues.
@@clonezero_RR advanced solar and metal maker is very inefficient, the pay back on it is like 10 mins or something stupid. should never try to get eco by spamming adv solars and converters
the best way to get good is to watch your replays when you lose your lane or game. when you lose, watch what the enemy does different to you and then try to replicate it.
a piece of advice is, do not build too much energy in the early game. metal spent on energy buildings is metal that is not spent on units. you need more units than your enemy so you can kill them and reclaim the dead metal and take more metal spots on front.
if you can spend your metal, if your metal stores are going down then you have enough energy. if metal is going up then build more build power (cons/construction turrets), if energy starts to go down while metal is going up then build more energy buildings, then once you have energy check if metal starts to go down, if it does not go down then build more con turrets. just repeat this process. as i said, do not over build energy in early game, that is metal for units to kill enemy. also do not over build build power (cons/con turrets) as that is metal you can use for units. as i said, if metal stores are going down then you have enough of what you need. make units, kill enemy, micro units, reclaim metal. make units, kill enemy micro units and reclaim metal. use some of that metal to invest in more eco ready to transfer into t2 when you get enough metal reclaim to do it.
Of course. Chris Taylor the creator of Total Annihilation actually showed up in the 4v4 tournament stream the other day, he was pretty emotional about his designs living on like this. ruclips.net/video/_dq9Xwfh4h4/видео.html
We all know that an Artosis Pylon in SC2 is one that, if destroyed, renders your critical tech structures and infrastructure non-functional. Should we start using the terminology of an "Artosis Fusion Reactor"??? @Wintergaming @WinterSC
As long as your allies know you're rushing t2 you can sell t2 constructors tell your allies you're selling t2 as you're building the lab and make your allies who donated 500 metal a t2 constructor. It helps you get t2 earlier and your allies will appreciate the increased metal income from t2 metal extractors
It means moon in portugues. Which is the language they speak in brazil, where lua started. They kept the basic features from SOL, which means sun in portugues, but with a much lighter implementation that does not really depend on anything but the basics of C. So they named it lua.

it for sure will, great game
I would def be down for a widget video, I have been trying the game out. Would be dope to see the ranges like that.
So good from Winter to put the most important information right at the start. Penguins do not have teeth.
Really enjoying 4v4 or 8v8 maps, especially with back and forth or nukes. Love your commentary Winter, keep BAR videos coming.

When the spring UI fails for some unknown reason, "/luaui reload" usually gets you back on track :-)

This is why I space out my generators and con turrets so they don't all explode in case some enemy units was able to sneak past the front line.

Are you disabling the smaller default health bars whilst using big health bars? By default I'm seeing both.
why don't you use the cloaked bots more for line of sight?
I did not know that air transports could move buildings, that's great
Only certain ones, but yes. They'll be tagged as 'Transportable'
Not sure if that was it but one the F keys toggles the UI, I think it's F5 or F6.

Yes. BAR originally stood for 'Balanced Annihilation Reloaded', basically a remake of a remake.
