I used to have a top of the line Bushnell but when I recently lost it, I bought the Nikon Coolshot Pro II Stabilized and found it to be far superior. Nikon’s optics are just as good if not better than Bushnell’s (after all Nikon IS a camera company) but the image stabilization in the Nikon is a game-changer. No more shaky images. I’ll never go back.
I have the XE Pro and it has been truly awesome and has improved my game immensely ! I use it on every shot and have learnt my distances. No more 20 yards passed the green.
Great video as always !
Another well structured and enthusiastically delivered video - thanks
Gabe, thank you for the great review. Mine cam in last week. Immediately got sick and have not been out on the course with it yet. Going to take a swing at it this week. BTW, because of your prior videos and reviews I ordered the x3 through play better! Great people.
Great review Gabe…as always! I’m really tempted…need to compare it to the Z82 which I think gives you the distance to the back and front, which are more critical for amateurs…
Great video Gabe!!! Nice to see you were up in my neck of the woods…..Rochester right down the 90 from Buffalo.
Loved seeing the leaves change. Weather was so nice the days I was there too!
Just bought the XE Pro because of your review. Thank you so much for all you do for the game and us mortals.
Hey big congrats, hope it serves you well 🙌
My bushnell v3 has lasted 7+ years. Still going strong. They truly are the best
To clarify: the altitude adjustment is not dynamic. You manually enter the altitude at which you're playing into the settings. The Leupold I've had for several years does the same thing. It also accepts your carry distances for each club, the temperature, etc., then gives you a) raw yardage, b) adjusted yardage, and c) club selection.
Good rangefinder for golf not for hunting, I stay with my vortex diamondback hd , Great review mate well done 👍⛳️
I lost the eye piece on my XE as well, they sent me a new one and I almost lost that one, I then sent it back to them for repair under warranty. When I got it back, the plays like distance was off and instead of being 1 yd on a flat course that I had used it on before, it was always -8yds or more. I sent it back to Bushnell under warranty, they said nothing was wrong with it, I called them before they sent it back and said it wasn't correct, they pulled it back before they sent it to me and I still haven't seen it or heard anything about it. Still waiting for Bushnell to decide if it is screwed up or what. The plays like distances were crazy, I didn't notice any issues when I had it in Scotland, and I sent it back to Bushnell as soon as I got back, after that the play like was never correct.
Great review! I've been waiting for this review...
What camera/program do you use to trace/track your shots? Thanks!
I'm sure the new Bushnell Pro X3 far out performs the Garmin Z82 by now but I still like the GPS feature of the Z82. Any news on when or if Garmin will come out with the new model in the Z series?
“It’s up to you to hit the club”. Wiser words were never said. But I want one of these for Christmas!!😊
The front end of the old Bushnell reminds me of a Yashica 124, in a good way.
Id say the Garmin Z82 is the rolls royce of rangefinders. The Bushnell is the Mercedes C Class of rangefinders. So dependable and will never go away.
Fall golf in New York is my favorite time of year to play….problem is followed by 6 months of misery…..lol
Bushnell makes the best rangefinder in the biz in my opinion. The are pricey, but like you said, they will last for quite sometime where as so many of the less espensive models only will make it a couple of years.
I think a drop test may be in order 🤔
People dont understand elevation. Coming from Louisiana there is very few places I travel to that I dont hit it at least 1/2 a club longer. Plus my irons are 33* for a 7i so wont go like a 29* 7i will.
I have a question. So you consider the Precision Pro R1 smart rangefinder and the latest Shot Scope cheap? I don’t recall you mentioning the price other than it was expensive. Considering price and performance, I’ll take 1 of the 2 I mentioned above.
Nope I’m talking about Chinese knockoffs. Those 2 you mentioned I’d consider mid-range.
So I'm confused on how it calculates for elevation. Is the "base" elevation sea level?
Meaning, I use it to get the distance of a pin at sea level and the pin is exactly 170 yards away. So it should tell me 170.
Then I teleport to Denver and use it to get the distance of another pin that is 170 yards away -- does it still just tell me 170? Or does it tell me its 170, but I should hit my 155-160 club since I am used to being at sea level?
Does this make sense? Or am I clearly missing something here lol
From the x3 manual
‘’With Slope mode selected, the display will show the percent grade of tilt/incline to the hole or obstacle (with the flag or other target in the aiming circle) and "Play As" compensated distance below the normal "Line of Sight" distance when the laser is fired. You can also activate the Element feature by pressing the Mode button (toggle between Elements on or off). "ON" indicates the Elements Mode icon ( ) in the display.
When the Elements Mode is on, the Slope compensated distance also factors in the air pressure and temperature at your location on the golf course. So, for example, the ball will travel farther through thinner air at higher altitudes (assuming the ball is hit with the same launch conditions). ‘
So, the yardage would still read 170, but tell you what yardage you should play the hole as, correct?
Think I spotted the Rogue ST Max driver…would love to see the driver video you promised!!
It had to get fixed which has delayed things a bit
I noticed you were using the slope feature, but were you also using the “Element” feature? My understanding is that this feature takes into consideration others factors such as humidity and wind, etc.
That's correct. If you turn on the elements feature it adds in those factors to come up with a true plays like distance.
@@LetsPlayThrudoes turning off the slope feature for tournament play also turn off element feature?
How about compared to the Nikon cool shot?
Gabe I’m a 16 handicap could I ask what you’d recommend for me between bushnell x3 pro or the latest Voice caddie SL3?
I haven’t gotten my hands on the SL3 yet. But I did love the SL2. I can only imagine the update is better. Both are going to be in dead accurate, but you’re going to get some more fancy features like green Maps out of the SL3, so for the same money I’d be leaning that way.
Thanks a lot for reply. Yeah I was swaying slightly that way. My only worry is build. Would the bushnell last a lot longer or are the voice caddie quite sturdy too ? Also you are doing a awesome job. Your channel is superb and throughly enjoy watching it. Keep up the great work.
Can it calculate the thickness of the forest that I usually hit in to? All joking aside, this is a pretty impressive range finder.
🤣
I like this analogy
Can you track this if you lose it? I would assume so with this thing being $600
Can you change to meters instead of yards?
Yes
IF I had a $599.99 golf swing I ...... ...... STILL wouldn't buy it.
@@locorogue1670 Thx for the hedzup. I'll check that out.
Range finder or set of wedges? If you had $500 what would you choose?
Costco wedges for $169 and the rest on a rangefinder
Andrew, You don’t know me 😆 but EXACTLY what Gabe said! 👍👍👍
@@ryanmoore1388 Well Gabe knows I have that very wedge set. Guess I’m looking for a rangefinder for $300
How many times do you see people checking a RF then their GPS finally they hit the shot and it ends up being a fizzer. I played with 2 people and they used a RF 40meters out, it waaasss a looonnnggg dayyy. i do use a GPS once a hole on the Par 4's and 5's. In the end you still have to hit the shot - commit.
Tempted to buy it but know I really can do without the pin point accuracy as well as 98% of other golfers
I rather have the Toyota of the Rangefinders: straightforward, robust and not overpriced.
Can you do a review on best one for under 200 599 is to rich for me

@@LetsPlayThru Nice. Very useful. New to your channel Gabe and it's terrific stuff. Appreciate your efforts.
Most golf carts these days have GPS systems on them. I know they don't calculate slope. For 600.00 I could receive a golf club fitting ($90), 3 - 30 min. Golf lessons ($285), and 5 rounds of golf with cart at my home course($225) for 600.00. Or I could get a new set of irons, PXG 0211 XCOR2 5 - PW w/graphite shafts, fitted to me(594.00) or the Takomo 101 irons with graphite shafts($609.00). Sorry Gabe, my game needs more of the above than the Rolls Royce of GPS rangefinders.
And yet it doesn’t have stabilization.
Uh No
sorry,made in China as well。
