Back in March of 2022, I spent a week and a half traveling around the islands of Trinidad and Tobago with my good friend (and local celebrity chef) Jason Peru, celebrity hairstylist Candice Mohan, and local food expert David.
Together, we started in the capital city, Port of Spain, where I got my first taste of local doubles on the island of Trinidad! From there, we explored more of the island, from Santa Cruz and Maracas Beach in the north to Chaguanas and Siparia further south.

Along the way, I tried dozens of unique Trinidadian foods, including saheena, pholourie, pommecythere, baigan choka, bake and shark, aloo pies, hops bread, curry armadillo, curry iguana, and much more!
From there, we hopped a short flight to Tobago, where I tried some incredible fried chicken, as well as steamed bhaji, smoked herring, saltfish buljol, coconut bake, fried shark, jack fish, curry crab and dumplings, and even lionfish (which I speared and caught myself)!
It was a fantastic whirlwind trip that gave me an even greater appreciation of Caribbean cuisine and culture, and one I hope gave you more insight into this beautiful part of the world.
In this video, I’ve compiled every dish I tried in Trinidad and Tobago into one massive video. I hope it whets your appetite and inspires you to try these foods and visit the islands yourself!
And if you’re from Trinidad and Tobago, or have tried the food before, what’s your favorite Trinibagoan dish? Tell me in the comments below and let’s chat!

I highlight culture and historical sites, but my passion is food! I love to experience and showcase the different flavors each destination has to offer, from casual street food to gourmet restaurant dining.
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Trinidad and Tobago's food is so diverse, so many cultures in one place the food is like no other, amazing 😋 😍 👌🏽 🤗
Definitely 💯💯
@@tina2737 I'll second that.
100% full of flavor
That enamel cup you were served the cocoa in is a classic .
Man u need to experience a Trini Christmas the food, the music, the love. Definitely Trini Christmas is the best.
The Ministry of culture needs to make the Christmas feelings more available to visitors.
This was the best ever hightlighting of streets foods in both Trinidad and Tobago that has ever done. I truly appreciate this video. Really enjoyed watching and as always thanks David amd safe travels wherever you go.
No...Mark Weins did better videos on T&T, no substance to these videos just eating sounds " yummy, hmmmm and delicious", like filler words, when you don't know what to say.
No such in depth history of where the food came originally. Its more like a Mukbang.
I'm here biting the air and licking my lips Missing Tobago. Double salute to my Tobago beautiful Queens and Kings. Sweet sweet TnT One love from beautiful Trinidad and Tobago ❤ 🇹🇹.
lol 'biting the air'.

I loved this series from Trinidad and Tobago. Awesome to watch David really enjoy the food
this is the best comprehensive guide of Trinidad food. Plus an American eating all of it!!
Tomas Hoffman: True. David knows how to enjoy eating a wide variety of foods without hesitation with the exception of a couple of things but he tried it anyway. Such a good sport.🇹🇹🇨🇦
Yes Mr Hoffmann David did an excellent job...the best anyone has ever done for both our islands,
@@ShabanandHailey hi Shabana. I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. Is that David's dad in the comments section? Just want to be sure. Are you Hindu? If so, I want to wish you and your family a happy Diwali tomorrow. If not, enjoy your day tomorrow anyway.🙏🕊️🇹🇹🇨🇦
My mom grew up in a hindu home dad in a moslem one But they both Catholic but our families celebrate Divali. so it's a mix like a lot of Trini homes. And I think it's David's dad comments. Any way Happy Divali to you and your family. Blessings Judy and stay safe.
@@ShabanandHailey My mother's family is Hindu as well. My grandmother came from Calcutta India. We grew up Catholic as well. Although we do have presbyterian on her side as well. One of my cousins is a reverend at a presbyterian church in Chaguanas. His name is Daniel Teelucksingh. He used to be a minister without portfolio in the parliament a long time ago. So you see, we are all mixed up in one way or another. So I guess you celebrate all the holidays: Eid, Diwali, Christmas, Easter. Aren't we lucky? 🙏🕊️🇹🇹🇨🇦👋
Great compilation of your street food adventures in Trinidad and Tobago! You should have weighed in upon arrival, and upon departure.

I think David loves Trinidad ❤ you are a trini for sure. They way you eat man you have to be a trini
Good morning David: thank you for highlighting your trip to Trinidad and Tobago and the foods of both islands. You make this ex-pat miss all that delicious street food, especially the eggplant baiganee - my favorite - after the doubles. I loved the doubles run from west to east on your last day in Trinidad, ending up at the airport. You always make food look and taste delicious, no matter what it is. A lot of "oh wow", "mmm" and "the best" show how much you appreciate Trini food. So happy you enjoyed Trinidad and Tobago and what the twin islands have to offer. You are now one of us, Trini to the bone 🤗🤗🤗. Once again, thank you. Have a great Sunday, and may the good Lord bless you and keep you and your family in good health. Be well and be safe.❤️🙏🕊️🇹🇹🇨🇦
I realy enjoy this, after having doubles for breakfast here this morning, we trini have so much food to choose from it's rediculous
@@Triniforchrist agreed Peter. The only thing I didn't want to see, which was unavoidable, was you know who. Trini food, second to none. So sorry you couldn't send me one. We get doubles here in Toronto but there is always something missing. I guess it's because of the vast international community we have here, who for the first time eating it, that they don't make it spicy like in Trinidad. Have a wonderful Sunday Peter.🇹🇹🇨🇦
@@JudyT868 lol, you to
@@Triniforchrist 👍
@Malissa K yes indeed, trini have talking pie here to the next level here 🔥 the cheese and shimp pie is out of this world

It would have been so great if they named the places they bought the food so I could visit them when I visit Tobago.
Look at the series on Trinidad and Tobago names are there.
I need the location for the Tobago foods..as well as the early morning duck doubles
David and Chef Jason, my mouth is watering! i need to book a trip back home to Sweet TNT just for the food! OMG everything looks soooo delicious! ❤❤
As a trini de (the) doubles does taste good 👍🏽
David I love your channel, question for you why the bandaid on your fingers, are you hurt in T&T. This is the best from T&T, I love all different foods, so awesome to watch David enjoy the food of different cultures , David keep the videos coming.

OK,, I AM PAST HUNGRY. NOW I'M DYING--- MY MOUTH IS WATERING. TOO MUCH.

Waiz did "bhigan pie"/ "eggplant" thing?? Is BHIGANEE eh 🤣😜😍
That bake and shark looked a little burnt... But the rest of the other foods looked amazing!
Curious what's your favorite trini dish and guyanese dish?
What’s the name of the restaurant at 24:13 looking for good tequenos in T&T 😅 or link for that video pls!!
👍
What’s the song at 9:52?
Nice 1 brother
Am hungry now...
Very nice
That trini act he never taste those food before
1st❤️
wow very very nice comment
Where is all of that food
Doubles = Chole Batura. Ever since I seen David's videos, have been slurping Chole Batura as doubles now. 😆
No it's not ...similar a bit but different herbs and spices used and different taste.
@@ShabanandHailey I added sauces to it. Looks pretty much same to me.
the bara is different in your Chole Batura. Doubles bara is softer.
@@jadea.2694 Checked the making. Looks exactly the same.
@@vinu85 is it not crispy?
David you enjoyed every thing you ate in Guyana and we were happy to have you thanks for visiting our beautiful country. With friendly and courageous people
This is Trinidad not Guyana
No skunt, he already had de best when he was here, dis video compilation is de proof, Trini food is miles ahead in all facets…
I know you went to Tobago but you never showed which restaurants cooked these dishes ! 😢
The names of the restaurants he visited are in the longer videos on the Trinidad and Tobago series.
Love your videos but everything can’t possibly taste like mmmhhhmmm incredible! Please try to describe what the foods taste like for us mere mortals! Did the cocoa tea taste like hot chocolate?… Just wondering 🧐
In Trinidad, YES!!! everything IS that amazing…if you don’t know you should stay quiet and observe.
@@Trini_Skunt-Troll Exactly everything tastes amazing ...you don;t have a choice to say which.
Most of the food dishes are seasoned with lots of local fresh herbs and spices which make those dishes very delicious and even more so when the condiments and local sauces are added. In Trinidad and Tobago our foods are not seasoned with just salt and ground black pepper. Some of these street foods may not taste as delicious at all vendors but I am guessing that the ones David visited would have been vetted to ensure their tastiness before he was taken there.
I would say cocoa tea is pretty much the Trini hot chocolate
I understand what you are saying
Trinis do not take offense,
I think they are just asking for more description, since "mmm" and "incredible" cannot tell you what it tastes like.
DAVID, PLEASEEE, IT IS R-O-T-I ---- NOT RODI. SAY IT RIGHT AND YUH GOOD.😁😁😁👍👍👍
You seems still very fit despite eating these foods..what is the secrets behind being fit
Creole food was represented extremely well as one will see…so all those racist skunts that jump de gun and bad-talking all de indian dishes need to go back and delete dey dotish comments or better dey leave it and expose and embarrass deyself.
So there are no creole people in Trinidad? Why wait to go to Tobago to get creole food. I just wonder if you know who creoles are. Before you respond, google the meaning of creole. It looked like Indian Trinidad and creole Tobago. Watch your language. Read the community rules. Be respectful of other peoples opinions and comments or you will be reported and blocked. Geez, your English and grammar and spelling are so bad.
@@Trini_Skunt-Troll 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 right back at YOU 👎👎👎👎👎
She was just giving her observation . Her comments are always meaningful and educational.
Love this episode. My favorite so far! Such a fushion of spices and cuisine from around the world.
