I did the diagnostics on my whirlpool washer. It was the washer lid lock. Purchased the part, followed the video and changed it myself. Pretty good for a 65 year old lady.

Yeah! I’m fifty and can’t hardly see out of my right eye but I fixed it!!! My son helped with holding up the lid but I can’t believe how easy a fix! Taking the lid bolts and stuff was crazy as no one is technical in any form. These newer electronic models are a mess to take apart. But after I purchased the two tools and the lid switch and lock replacement it was under sixty bucks. I’m so happy. I was quoted 300 plus the part to fix. It took almost fourty minutes but I think anyone technically savy could do it in fifteen minutes. Yes my blankets smell like downy once again. Thank you!!!!!!

I am a young mom of 2 (a 2 year old and a 4 month old) and because of this video, I was able to replace my part and get my washer working by myself with my kids playing nearby. Thank you!
The only thing I would recommend is showing how to remove the bezel because the repair kit comes with a replacement bezel to guarantee proper function after replacing the lid lock. I did not replace the bezel at first and the washer was still having the same problem and was not working. I finally figured out how to remove it and had to remove all the back paneling again and then replace.

Woo Hoo!!! Just fixed my Amanda Washer by myself. Lid Lock Switch. And I'm a Female, 69.
    Thanks to your
RUclips Video. I bought the part $57.00 at An Appliance Parts Store. And I used a 1/4 "
Nut Driver on my Black and Decker Drill. I plugged the washer in the wall after I installed the
Part, but the light was still flashing, unplugged it 2 more times, and even
turned off and on, the circuit breaker. That seemed to "reset" it. Thank you!!!

Songre Osmenep The lid lock was likely not the problem with your washer. It could be a main control issue but the only way to know for sure is to do some electrical testing with a volt meter and the wiring diagram from inside the machine. Enter your washing machine's model number in our website's repair help for troubleshooting information specific to your washer.

The newest replacement (Jan 2019 for me) does NOT have the mounting screws at 1:35. The white bezel is attached to the black plastic lock mechanism. You slide old lock, bezel and all, to the left and it comes out in one piece. Reverse that for putting in the new lock until it clicks into place.
Also, my replacement lock came already in the LOCKED position, witch i figured out when i tried to shut the lid after completing installation. I kinda poked my finger in the and got the new lock to unclick.
Overall, great video, it made this repair very easy.

I would check the actuator on the lid to make sure it is not broke and is engaging the new lid switch. The wiring is hard to mess up because the harness only plugs in one way. You could double check the connection at the control board if you haven’t already.

My washer fills with water, does the wash cycle and then stays in the "lid lock" cycle and nothing happens. It is still filled with water. If we unplug the washer and attempt to restart it nothing happens.

All these “safety precautions” when we have some kids eating colorful Tide Pods.
The *lid lock should be optional* or the manufacture should incorporate some type of disengagement switch. There’s no lock for garbage disposals, vacuum cleaners, fans, electric blenders or mixers.

There's definitely nothing wrong with that Kathy. Now you have some knowledge for when the technician comes.

Has anyone run into case where after you do a reset ( ruclips.net/video/YZKqpoVX3t4/видео.html ), the washer is so moody it works when you least expected and then nothing? Like stopping at wash cycle, working, stops at spin cycle, stops at wash cycle forever.

***** what would really help is if you are affiliated with Home Depot that way there would be no shipping cost for parts picked up at store. Also customer would save in returns if part does not work. Website ( www.appliancerepair.homedepot.com/Shop-For-Parts/a11b5d1286864/Model-WTW4800XQ4-Whirlpool-Washing-Machine-Parts ) already has look and feel of RC which I suspect RC is connected someway to Home Depot.

My washer is 2 years old and changed this lid lock twice. This whirlpool washer is a total headache and waste of money and your time.

Isn't there a way to just bypass the stupid locking mechanism ?
