I appreciate you taking the time to show this when you could have just said "screw it,at least mines fixed". It fixed mine and I'm sure many more and I thank you. We Cub Cadet owners need all the help we can get with these mowers. Have a good one.

Yes, great fix! I had the same problem with my Cub Cadet gradually slowing over the last few years. When I tried using it for the first time this season it was horribly slow and it took me 45mins to mow just the front lawn. I was determined to figure out what was going on and the search was on. After coming across a number of videos to check various things, I found this gem. I have to admit that I had my doubts at first, but this WORKED. After cleaning out that compartment, that same stretch of lawn was done in 10mins. Thanks for sharing!

Great fix, you did a super job showing clear and concise directions as to the problem and the fix!!! This video will be as relevant as the day you made it until the last one of these machines gets retired. 3Yrs later and it's still helping folks like me. Again great job Wes!!!

Bought a used Cub last year, and seemed ok speed. It was down a couple weeks with a fuel issue and borrowed my FIL's Huska and holy crap it was 3 times as fast. But then I got the cub fixed and first time I mowed, especially going up a big hill we have I noticed it was barely going, so I suspected it had slowed since last year. I'm at work, so haven't looked yet, but what you saw on the floor I got off this tractor a few weeks ago from the deck and around (I know, should have cleaned it last season lol) anyhow i bet it has that much or more and I'll find out as soon as I get home tonight!!! Thank you!

Our church has a 12-year-old tractor the same model as yours. It has been running slow for about 7 yrs. I Saw your video yesterday and while doing oil changes on seven tractors this morning my self and a buddy pulled the two panels you referred to in your video. Found a lot of packed grass in the space behind the panels. After cleaning the forward speed was greatly improved, and the reverse was much better. Next week when we mow the regular operator will have a nice surprise. Thank you for your help, it’s much appreciated.

Hi Wesley, Thank you for posting this video. I was experiencing the exact thing for two years. You are a genius!! Everybody I mentioned the issue to said it is the belt. After taking a look what it would take to install a new one, I decided not to attempt it! I had so much crap consisting of grass clippings and dirt, the gas pedal would not depress downward all the way making rhe forward speed. About 3 mph if that! Best- Tim

Fantastic! Thank you! I have the GT2554 as well and it has been gradually slowing down every year. I checked the speed using my gps and the maximum speed was 2.6 mph. I followed your recommendation and now can get it up to 5 mph. I have a really good Cub Cadet dealer here but they couldn't figure out what the problem was. They had asked Cub Cadet head office and they could only suggest changing the hydrostatic fluid and filter, which made no difference to my speed. I just went down and showed this to the dealer and he says that he has several customers with different models who are having speed issues and he is pretty sure this is going to be the problem with all of them.

Awesome!!!! I have not looked or tried that yet but I can clearly see that will be a problem on mine. I put a new drive belt on last year thinking it would help but it didn't change a thing. I had to do some work on my deck this year so I was behind this year for my first cut so grass was high. And I have a big yard. Motor still running strong but it just slowly was getting worse. My cruise control even stopped working for no reason. It is to the point of not even wanting to go up any inclines at all but belt didn't seem to be slipping. So end of story is with
my grass getting higher than it should have on first cut I bet that spot you just showed is just full of shit bad.. I have already been looking at new mowers. So glad I found this video before I made a huge mistake of buying new.. Thanks man!!! I pretty much do everything at home to fix things and almost always find a way to. But I didn't find that spot yet so well done. So glad you made a video on it.. I could not find anything on RUclips that helped. You are the only one that showed that....👏👏👏🙏

I am working on my neighbors it is the same model I was going to look for a problem at the rear end but I will try this first not much on the internet on the shaft drive models. If this works I will be a happy camper. I will let you know. You might want to put the model saying it is a shaft driven unit in the description. Because the belt driven types which are most of the other models do not have this. It almost looks like a rod going to a pressure plate causing the drive shaft to move faster.

About to figure away to install a blower on mine to push the grass that flies up under the chassis. I'm using an LT46 and the reverse gets slow due to all the grass tha the deck throws out. Seems like a major issue with most cub cadet models. Except mines an every week issue due to having just under 3 acres to mow. I have two mowers I use to offset the amount of yard, so neither really have the whole thing to mow, but stupid when I have to break one down every week to clean it so it will mow like it did when I first got it.
