  • Hilleberg Anjan is a lightweight tent, one of the lightest models of Hilleberg tents. We have the the 2-person model with the extended vestibule, Anjan 2 GT.
    Hilleberg make really good quality tents and they are expensive but if you’re searching for a tent to last for 10-20 years then Hilleberg is the right brand for you to choose.
    Hilleberg Anjan is a lightweight backpacking tent made for using during the snow free season, a so called 3-season tent. The gt-version we have weights 2,1 kg and are not a ultralight tent but you get a lot of space and comfort that you don’t find in ultralight tents.
    In Hilleberg’s yellow label serie you also find another tunnel tent called Hilleberg Helags and in the red label and black label you have 3 other models called Hilleberg Nallo, Kaitum and Nammatj.
    When we make outdoor gear reviews our mission is to help you to choose the right equipment. We are totally honest and are not bought or try to sell things to you.

    Yes a longer 1 or 2 man tent is one of my prerequisites. And not just by a little bit but by another half body length at least for arms above your head or gear or a dog.

      I put my feet in to a backpack once and get a lot of condensation.
      Do you get condensation in the rain jacket or do you keep it open on the sides? I have to test this....

    • @AlexanderBlumenau
      @AlexanderBlumenau Год назад +3

      @@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA You get condensation. But that is only the condensation on the rather small area of the jacket. Whereas when the sleeping bag comes in contact with the tent's wall, it will suck up all the condensation water that runs down as drops from the whole area above it. So that is 10 times or more the amount of water than what would condensate under the jacket.

    I have a Rogan and use it mainly for cycle touring. It has two vestibules so, if the weather is bad, I put my panniers in the vestibule on the windward side. This stops the rain and wind getting under the tent and making the inner wet. I love the build quality of Hilleberg but I guess no tent is perfect. I din't go for a tunnel tent as I am 1.84m tall and the dome tents tend to have more space for me. Great video.

I'm 178 cm and thought I might be able to get away with it as I thought it was an issue for tall people, not average height people. I do not understand that the productmakers do not make sleeping pads, tents and so on for taller people. Hi Matti very nice videos and reviews they are extremly helpful for me looking to invest in a tent. I would love to see you review some Fjällräven tents and maybe compare them with Hilleberg. One I would like to see an review of is Abisko View 2 from Fjällräven. Thanks for doing these videos.

    • @simon7719
      @simon7719 3 месяца назад

      Fjällräven tents are made in china, if that is something you care about. Also they prefer to keep the store you bought it in accountable for support, so they're less desirable as a second-hand tent where the store may be far away or no receipt is provided at all. Goes both for value loss if you buy new and what you should probably pay if you buy used.
      But my Abisko Lite 1 works fine. The "Bushman and BLUE" channel uses and reviews a lot of Fjällräven tents.

    Thanks Matti for yet another really interesting and well put together review, you really point out the things that matter in practical use of the tent. I'm 181 cm tall and I would love to be able to have a Nallo, Nammatj or Anjan but because of the issue with the sleeping bag pressing against the inner tent at the foot end, it is sadly not av option for me...and I am not even considered a tall guy (I think I'm actually spot on the average length for a male in Sweden). My hiking parter and I often discuss Hilleberg tents and we always end up with the exact same thought as you in this video...why don't Hilleberg make an XL version of theses models? Then the not so tall persons can buy the standard version and save some weight and the taller persons can get the XL version with a slight weight penalty but that shouldn't really matter that much because taller persons might perhaps also possess a bit more carrying power. Hillebergs advice to tall persons is to put a rain jacket over the end of the sleeping bag but personally I don't endorse that advice...I mean you bring a rain jacket as a shelter for wet weather so there is a fair good chance that the rain jacket are wet because you have actually used it for its main purpose...then it would be pretty useless to put over the sleeping bag to protect from condensation.
    Thanks for all your fantastic videos, they are all very inspiring and interesting to watch and you have a very nice approach. Keep it up!
    Best regards Martin

      @@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA Thanks for the reply and advice Matti! I actually already have the Helags 3 for this exact reason.😁 It is a really impressive tent for the weight and I love the interior space. However, I am also a BIG fan of the GT vestibule from my Kaitum 4 GT. But as you know, sadly, Hilleberg doesn't offer the Helags in GT version so for my lightweight non winter tent I had to choose between not pressing my feet against the inner tent (Helags) or GT (Anjan GT) and I chose the former without hesitation.🙂 However, a Anjan 2 GT XL would be a different story.😉

May I ask what Hilleberg tent would you recommend for bike AND motorbike travels if you would have to only choose one? For summer tripping it should be yellow label.
      I can recommend Anaris. Has excellent: head room, light weight, ventilation. And it is one of the cheaper HB tents.
      Cons: stuff sack is too small, pegs are too small
      Need to get folding trekking poles or carbon fibre poles.

    • @Luuk_M
      @Luuk_M 2 месяца назад

      I used a Enan on my motorbike trips. Worked fine, until a heavy rain/hail caught me high up in the mountains. With a river developping my tent, I needed to get all your gear inside the inner tent. And for this, the Enan's inner is just too small. Pro: the bath tub withstood this test. I switched to a Rogen for this use. But during it's maiden motortrip in September in the Alps, it proved too cold/windy inside at 1600 m altitude. Next try will be a Nallo 2, even though I fear getting cold feet due to touching the sloping roof. I would not be surprised if I end up in a Nammatj 2, a fortress with a steeper rear end (both poles have equal heights). Just buy (and sell) them second hand, to keep cost down. The amount of hardly used tents for sale is really amazing.

    I gather up a sufficient number of big heavy rocks that I can put on top of tent stakes B4 starting to pitch my Hilleberg Enan. When I drive a stake into the ground I reach for the nearby heavy rock & put it on top of the tent stake then move on to the next tent stake & big heavy rock.
    I was shouting at my computer when you were walking around with that tent pole still laying on the ground. tsk, tsk. By the way, I'm just 5'3" (160cm) so I have plenty of room inside most any tent.
    I especially liked your comment about the tent is supposed to provide shelter, not warmth, that the sleeping bag should provide warmth, not the tent.
    And the air mattress should provide insulation from the ground, not just the tent floor.
