    After hundreds of nights spent in the Soulo RL during the past 10 years, I'm very happy about the announcement of the Soulo BL!
    Even though my Soulo RL is still in a good shape for its age, this product release sounds like its time for a gift to myself and an upgrade nevertheless, you've caught me :-).

      Lonnie Dupree solo'd Denali in the winter with the red label, so ya you have to have some pretty outrageous plans or serious risk aversion for the black label. For all I know Dupree sub'ed out the regular poles for heavier ones and made his own mods?

    Very interesting. If this feedback is read, my thought for a new product would be either a 1 person trekking pole tent like the Anaris but smaller and thus lighter. Another would be to modify the Enan so that there was modest scalloping to the flysheet to increase the ventilation. Here in the UK there are many reviews commenting on high levels of condensation in the Enan / Akto. I for one would love a tent which was very light, but not ultra light with the robustness you are known for but 1 kg in weight.

I don't miss a dedicated vestibule at all and I am very happy with the roomy innerspace. My Unna has seen some pretty heavy storms, so even on that point it doesn't fail. I was thinking the exact same thing. Im in Australia and the hottest months and also the months with intense rain storms. So I really need a tent with lots of rain protection but also one that can be opened up to catch every little breeze on those hot days. The Helags seems like the tent for Australia (and Japan). Hikori have you bought the inner mesh tent for the nallo 3. I was looking at it and it might make it a lot cooler.

      Yeh agreed hilleberg make great tents, but they need to catch up , a bit behind on modern camping , the world is getting smaller, and gps mobile phones help reduce need for rock solid tents esp in 3 seasons. I have the unna , awesome tent , I know they have the niak but as u say too big for a solo , they coukd make a great unna/ nick tent freestanding for closer to 1kg and tap into a huge market. So come on hilleberg think outside the box and get a light 3season freestanding , bike friendly tent like the unna to tap into a big market :)

      Brian Taylor - I have the Soulo, and I do believe that it should be long enough for you. The length of the inner tent is 220 cm. The inner height of the tent however, may be a different issue. I have a long back, and shorter legs, and I can’t quite sit upright inside the tent. However, it’s a great little tent, that can take a lot of strong winds. If it’s good enough for the Himalayas and Denali, it’s good enough most conditions. I love the Soulo 👍🏻👍🏻🇳🇴

      1. The fabric is thicker 1800 kerlon. And it feels indestructible
      2. The poles are 10mm DAC and again feel indestructible
      That’s it… a red label soulo is currently £800
      Black label is £840
      For £40 More you get an absolute beast of a tent. And 400gms is nothing in extra weight. 👍

    I have called Hilleberg in Redmond, WA twice in the last few years, to suggest that they make a yellow label version of the Kaitum 2. I wonder if my calls, urging them on, helped to make it happen? In any case, this is great news! Finally, a lightweight tunnel tent without a sloping end, and with a third pole for the living area instead of for a huge vestibule. This will make the living area of the tent more sturdy in windy weather since there will be a smaller distance between the poles.

    Which black label tents are freestanding? Obviously the Staika and the Soulo are because it says those exact words in the description…but I’m not sure if “Self supporting” in your descriptions (Saivo and Saitaris) is a synonym for freestanding, is it?? Also, someone claimed in a forum that the Tara is freestanding, but the description doesn’t use those words it just says “Dome tent.” Ok, so is dome tent a synonym for freestanding tent, or is the Tarra NOT a freestanding tent? Thanks!

    • @HillebergTentmaker
      @HillebergTentmaker  2 года назад +1

      Hi Joe. Within our dome models, we distinguish between “self supporting” tents, where the vestibules need to be pegged out, and “free standing models,” which have integrated vestibules and require no pegging for pitching. You can learn more details on our website at hilleberg.com/about-our-tents/choosing-the-right-tent/

    • @joebuck4496
      @joebuck4496 2 года назад

      @@HillebergTentmaker oh ok thanks for the link. So technically a self supporting dome tent would be fully free standing if you cut the vestibule off (not that you would ever do that)…so the main body of a self supporting tent would also have the advantage of not having to be staked down EXCEPT for the vestibule section?? So theoretically if you could only find a tiny section of ground that can accept stakes, and if that ground was just big enough to stake only the vestibule section of a self supporting tent like the Saivo, then you would be ok to setup a Saivo there?

    @Hilleberg:
    I have Soulo and some other of your tents. What is missing in Soulo is another ventilation option. I have never understood why you have only one vent in the top of the tent when every other tent You make have at least two options. There should be one at the lower end side for instance, to make an airflow in the tent, this is especially important because the tent is so small and the outer tent reaches all the way down to the ground leaving no or little airflow underneath. In Akto which is also a very small tent You have made huge ventilation options, so why not on the Soulo?

    Of course everyone has their wish-list in a tent. But a BL Soulo to 'upgrade' the already-proven RL Soulo? I would have liked to see you go the other way: a YL Soulo, for the considerable amount of situations and location when one needs a fully free-standing and lighter-weight tent that gives more 'moveable' interior space than the Akto/Enon...a tent I've used hundreds of times and moaned about hundreds of times more when I needed a little more room to get dressed, a little more flexibility in pitching options in hard-to-pitch areas, and that unlike the Unna, still retains a vestibule in a small footprint.
    Any plans to integrate in a YL Soulo into the lineup one day? I can't be the only person that would utilise that tent.

    Realy like your designs. But please can you add 10 to 20% more strength to the outer tent? Comparing with Helsport 4 seasons tents, which can take 20kg of preasure where as Hilleberg is less strong at 18kg of preasure. Also the tubes with Hilleberg are much longer than Helsport, makes the poles less flexible when packing. The length of your inner tents are 220 long, they are 225 in Helsport and other competition, do you have any plans to increase the length in the inner tents? Please Can you improve in these areas? I would buy a few I have my eyes on then. Or at least educate me into why HIlleberg prefers to be a few kg less stronger than their competitors, and why they cant be 225 long in the inner tent? Maybe there is some hidden chemical applied to the outer tent the competitor tent companies dont have? or some structural reason why the inner tent cant be 225cm long? Again im a big fan of Hilleberg tents and really looking forward to your reply to my questions/concerns. Thank you!

    Bummer they are so heavy impractical for BWCA trips my 3p Nemo is 2.5 lbs.

    Love my Hileberg Staika, but I’m getting on in my 60s and need something lighter. Ive been thinking about a Hilleberg Akto. I used my tent mainly for backcountry big game hunting in Wyoming and Idaho and I like to go steep and deep. Is there a footprint available for the Akto? Thanks for the video!

    Hilleberg make fantastic tents for Everest and the Arctic, and the moment I go on an actual expedition I'll invest in one.
    It's always funny to see people pottering around on the West Highland Way, etc., in expedition tents.

      I use a Whillans Box unless the campsite is perfectly flat.

    The sand colour looks different to the sand used in 2019 tents, slightly darker maybe?

      could it be the difference in kerlon strength?

      I just bought an Allak 2 in sand, but perhaps it's the shade that gives it a darker look in the video. Would be nice to know if there will be a sand colour change in 2021. Delighted with my purchase anyway, can feel and see the quality in every detail.

    Really nice additions to your line-up. I have 3 Hilleberg tents and 0 problems! Nice to know when you are out in the high country.

    Thanks, interesting. Do you also have any plans for a Yellow Label Soulo equivalent - or something freestanding & with a little more head-height than the Enan, but 3 season? Would be very interested in a model along those lines.

    So what would you recommend for a person that's looking for a 3p all season but not heavy and roomy
