Really enjoy the authenticity of all your msic. I'm 79 and my Dad was born and raised in southwestern Virginia on the family farm. His father died in 1920 when my Dad was 6. 7 kids in the family. 5 girls and 2 boys. No welfare. Granny took in sewing and worked some at a tobacco factory. They all worked hard. Your music honors my family and I appreciate all your efforts.

Thanks for the positive comments about my family. When I heard Rich Men North of Richmond it seemed that Chris was speaking for my Dad who past away in 1986. As a young boy I loved riding with him through the mountains and valleys of Franklin County on summer visits from the north. Really felt the sense of pride of extended family. Lots of them as my 5th Great Grandfather settled there in 1745.
Born and raised in south Alabama here, going on 40 years old. Single man, just bought a log cabin on a river down here. Can’t express how much I feel your music brother! Yesterday I had to lay my brother to rest and he was absolutely in love with this song. Just want to say thank you for helping me get through this difficult time. RIP Patrick Anderson!!
The reason that so many non-country fans such as myself are sitting here listening to this guy is because he is a brilliant writer and his soul just oozes out through his music. Another great one!
The mainstream music complex hates this. Because this takes ACTUAL talent. Making the most bland and awful machine produced garbage is what they like. Because it’s way easier and way cheaper. People need to reject that crap.
his soul is the being of our nation and he is the best singer i ever heard and he resonates to the culture. he is the best and his soul is woven in the fabric of the country. He is like the constitution and is more important than one to we the people since Washington!
This is real country music, made from actual pain, substance abuse and depression. Not "wear a flannel, get white girl wasted and post about it on Instagram" country music.

Im 68 and have been into music my whole life. I have never seen a guy come along with such a powerful message, great lyrics and guitar. The fact that he is garnering millions of views and topping the charts shows that he is in tune with how people feel now. This is the 3rd song Ive heard from him and each one is great. His lyrics and timing are amazing, and the fact that he has turned down the big contract and all the glitz shows that he is the real deal.

Being raised in the deep south by a Granny who worked her fingers to the bone in a sewing factory just to barely afford food, clothes, and keep the lights on, I've found this music resonates with a place in my soul that I haven't been in touch with for a long while. I'm grateful that this young man is finding success by being who he authentically seems to be, speaking to a place in all of us that we may not even know is there. It was a joy to hear him on Rogan, and learn more about who he is and why he feels compelled to tell the story of those of us who quite often go without our story told.
@EdricHumble It got pretty rough, lots of folks lost their homes and vehicles with all the downed trees. I couldn't be more grateful that all I had to do was cut and move some big limbs in the yard that thankfully didn't get near the house. At this point, my kids and I have just been going around looking for folks who need help cutting and moving trees, and trying to spread the word about families we're hearing about who lost everything. The only real fortunate thing about events like this, is that it seems to bring out the best in good people. I wish communities rallied and looked out for one other on that scale all the time, but for the most part neighbors tend to take care of neighbors around here. Everybody's keeping their fingers crossed that this will be the worst of hurricane season this year. Thank you for caring enough to ask!

Question. Why did you feel the need to highlight your age? I’m seeing this often and I’m starting to think you’re all bots. Nobody else does it. Only older folks. And what does speaks to you on a “cellular” level mean?
HA! sameish here. grew up in St. Louis, my mom and dad from the hills of the Ozarks. I rebelled against my their "hee haw" music. Lived in New York for decades. I'm now back in the Ozarks. I feel ya!
People like him pop up from time to time and make a big splash, but country radio still like pushing that same shit they've been pumping out for years. They're gonna try and get people like Oliver into their mold and if he doesn't fit for very long, they're gonna scoot him over to the Americana stations. Maybe he'll have a Colter Wall or Sturgill Simpson kind of career, where he's getting all this hype in other avenues, like film soundtracks, touring, and the like. Who knows, I wish him the best of luck. I don't think he's going to change for them.
This is a crazy deep song for me. I had a 90 some (1995) Chevy with a 350 when my wife and I dated and then married. What nostalgia for me, keep writing these songs Oliver!

The music industry hates him. They want to keep pumping out the most bland and basic “I got my beer on a Sunday night and we kissed…” crap. They can mass produce that very cheaply. This actually takes talent here
@@strategery101 You are so right. This man is as genuine as it gets and won't be destroyed by the industry by choice! Thank God he has that wisdom along with his talent!
This song and rich men north of Richmond have brought me to country music, and I'm a techno/psychedelic trance head to heart. I can't explain it but this mans music hits hard. I have a good life that I am very grateful for and this man's lyrics make me realise how lucky I really am and how we can all take it for granted at times. Thankyou brother. I can imagine there are many people out there that need this music and its messages to keep their heads above water.
Seriously.... Chris....your career will last for as long as YOU decide. Your fanbase is established. Keep churning out these hits! LOVE IT!
Chris?
@@JessToday2023 yes...his real name. Oliver Anthony was his grandfathers name..
.
Never sell out Oliver because we got yah !!! Sixty year old Canadian and still got my ninety something Chevy and you're hittin my strings !!! Love it!!! Huge respect from up North !!!
This guy is pure honesty. He writes from the heart. Listen to his talk with Rogan. He's down to earth. He rejected a big money contract probably because he just wanted to write music, not be a cog in the machine. That deserves mad respect. Plus, he has a really good voice, the best since Chris Stapleton. Also, lots of people, including hip hop artists, have used his work to make their own music. He is a humble man, but he is also a phenomenon.
thats because we're actually all one in the same. the rich men north of richmond just wanna divide us but we're all family in this big melting pot we call home, America
Yes, his interview with Rogan was fantastic, and confirmed the kind of man he is. Anthony/Lunsford hasn’t set out to be a thought leader, but his music, his honesty, his soul is what we need right now. I just saw an interview with Jordan Peterson dropped. That ought to be a good one.
