It's a dream or hallucination created by the joker toxin, which Batman is already infected with. If you explore the batcave, this definitely takes place between City and Knight, and it shows that Batman is already infected. The whole story is likely Batman's first encounter with the Joker hallucinations, which results in him beginning his trials for the cure. In the Batcave you also have blood samples for all the people Batman captures who are infected with Joker toxin as well. I think it's a really well done toxin-induced prequel to Knight.
It's amazing, how the VR tells this story
Drawback well obviously I'm not buying VR only for Batman. It's worth it if you're already planning to invest into VR, but obviously you never buy a platform for one game.
Andy Gilleand Oh yeah, sorry. Didn't mean to imply you were. If it's not for the one game but for the many VR games to come out then yeah, that's fine.
But if anyone's buying just for the Arkham title, not worth it.
+Andy Gilleand You're a smart guy. Thanks for your comment (: Also you have so many subs and small views? Why?..
Ha, well, check out some of my movies. People seem to like them. My Arkham Origins movie is actually the most viewed video on youtube for that game.
Dude it's a battle with the joker in batmans mind before Arkham knight. I thought everyone knew this.....?
This.
You can even take a blood sample of yourself and it tells you that you're infected with the jokers blood.
The trailer itself greatly hinted at more mental battle shenanigans
Logan Garrick nope I did not )--(
SeversTheBreath 1021 no he saw joker die (fake) BTW he fought joker in asylum that's real
I was about to say, he said something not very smart that it takes place before Arkham city when in fact it takes place after because joker died when his blood samples made it out
Words aren't always backwards during dreams. I've had quite a lot of dreams where I could read text perfectly and other people too had similar dreams.
same
I've actually had dreams where i was the only one who COULD read
Hoxton Hoxworth The part on not being able to read in a dream comes is an Easter egg from am episode of Batman TAS
There's no hard and fast rule about what you can and can't in a dream. If you can't, you really should start to think whether it is real. So this invalidates all the claims of people necessary being able to read in every dream and Batman not being the same being a glitch. It is not. Game was perfect in all regards, I wished for more action (too much dependence on gadgets there) and a longer gameplay if they could, but given it was a dream the length fits perfectly, many of my dreams are 5-10 minutes spread over long sleeps and are in installments in the same night.
I've had dreams where they've turned true either a few weeks or a year later 😂🤣
Who's watching this rant in 2086? Good times.
?????????????????
Jasper Freddo Frog watching in 9999 we are now living in video game worlds and I went to gotham:)
Kwing, if you don't get it... Basically people just joke about it or just change the time.
What does that mean, you guys say anything.
Just... Just don't read these comments or anything.
This game was seriously awesome! Please actually try it before shitting on it. Even if you don't like the story, the experience is 100% worth it.
Kwing loves to "review" things that he hasn't played/seen. Just bad form.
The Game is basically the Start of Batman's Joker Hallucinations that we see in Arkham Knight.
I think people are a little too Harsh calling this Game an "Abomination".
Albert Moisan. Yeah as someone who saw a RUclips's play this it seemed like one of the better VR experiences and had a really nice story and such that is either set BEFORE Arkham Knight or is non-cannon.
It’s still in my opinion wasted potential i mean imagine the combat scenarios this game could have pulled off
I just played arkham vr and it was the greatest video game experience I have ever partaken in
Wait that's why Batman distances himself so far from night wing and Robin in Arkham Knight
Okay, I'm sick of hearing you talk about the words in dreams being backwards. In Arkham Knight, the Scarecrow fear toxin hallucinations do not have words backwards, as that idea was & is exclusive to Batman: The Animated Series, not the Arkhamverse.
People IRL can't read in Dreams. It's proven Science.
Hallucinations and dreams are technically different in a way. Dreams are unconscious states in where your fantasies are happening. Hallucinations are like a mirage, it's not there.
+kNIGHTWING01 but many people can read in dreams some claim its difficult and others not so much since dreams are basically your brain shifting through information. in your mind it's not that hard to believe that some can read in dreams
I'll pay more attention but I swear I've read in dreams.
@@kNIGHTWING01 Late to the party here, but I had a dream recently where I read something. I forgot what the book was about, but I remember reading and understanding normal English words.
Also, the game was really good for what it is. A short point-and-click style horror game set in the Batman Arkhamverse in which Batman is having some sort of Joker-induced nightmare/hallucination hybrid. Admittedly, I watched the game on RUclips (Batman Arkham Videos FTW) and I'm not exactly saying one should go out and purchase the game, but the story in and of itself as a side story was really good.
I had a panic attack when he said Tim Drake was killed by Croc.
OMG all the killer croc stuff was super tense/scary in VR.
It was all a dream. I you had waited and played the damn game you might have realised that.
That's actually a myth that you can't read in your dreams
I think this is actually a nightmare, something that Batman doesn't want to happen, or Scarecrow's fear gas really got to him overtime, and produced this, his worst fears combined, or he's having a nightmare as Batman, slowly turning in Bruce again.
4:09 LMFAO LOOK AT HIS HEAD
Paul Dini was literally responsible for the success of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City's story. This and Arkham Knight are proof of it.
Paul Dini didn't have anything to do with Arkham Knight and VR. Though I will say if Rocksteady got him to do the writing, Kinght and VR's stories would have been a whole lot better.
Enjoy being disappointed!
The mental battle stuff Arkham Knight and Arkham VR are known for plays off of the well received Scarecrow shenanigans in Arkham Asylum.
What was the reason for Paul not writing the story for Arkham Knight?
Story is fucked up in first two games and full of holes too, Origins, which also had greatest story and best references to Paul Dini and Bruce Tim's awesome works before the game series, is criticised in vain for not being consistent with a fucked up storyline which gets more fucked up in Arkham Knight with Tim's accelerated age, affair with Barbara and Scarecrow threatening an evacuated city.
So... I'm not in this VR abomination? YAY!
This Batman might have Killed you already. Also the Police aren't around either. Especially after that explosion...
Ok... well, for now i'll just assume me, Steph and Cass evacuated to the secret bunker underneath the clocktower.
But does Bruce know about that?
dun dun daaaaaaaaaaaaa
To be frank, I feel more like Batman while playing Asylum, City, and even Knight. Despite the amount of Batmobile in the latter.
Basically Batman VR is just a mini game
lazlo142 It feels more like DLC. Hopefully they make more, it was really fun.
Still here hoping a batman beyond game will be announced one day and make my dreams come true
I bought the VR and find it pretty damn awesome. Sure that batman story was shit but the game play and world was damn cool. Who buys a whole system for one game. I've been playing a ton of games all day and from a guy who's been gaming for 30 some odd years this is pretty damn cool
Exactly the point of this wasn't the story, it was the Immersiveness.
The story was amazing though too, with how it's executed in VR. It's not something that can be judged on paper.
Again I totally agree.
Thank you! Finally someone commenting that has actually played the game. It was one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I have ever had. This is Rocksteady dipping their toes in the VR water and I think they nailed it. Please do not judge VR content from RUclips videos, it looks nothing like when you are actually in the world.
drchucks Unfortunately people like Kwing can't turn off the brain and let the VR entertain you.
oh he is NOT dead oh thank God I luv Nightwing
Its Feb 8th 2023 and I just played it and beat it today. It was an amazing experience and the story while very distressing showed the depths of Jokers cruelty even in death. He himself is a plague with no known cure. What a great experience.
That batmobile catch at 9:23 haha
DC universe how to re-con stuff : OH its just a dream
orrr "it's just another universeee"
Orrrr another timeline....
or its just the New 52
Very trueeee
IGamingPotato _ seriously?
bruh the neck expanding at 4:10 lol
I just played this, it's amazing and significantly better than Arkham Knight, a true next gen experience. You can't judge something you have no basis or context for. I understand wanting to judge a story to a game you haven't or can't play, but VR is unlike anything that has come before. Judging the story without actually experiencing it in VR is akin to judging something you've never tasted before, that's how much context VR adds to it. You did not stand on rooftops overlooking Gotham. You did not hear Joker in your head. You did not interact with life sized versions of these characters/environments. You did not feel walls closing in on you. Etc. and etc. You hold no grounds for being able to judge any aspect of this game. If it was a traditional game, sure, but it's not at all. Someone's who played Arkham Asylum and Arkham City can sit back and judge Arkham Knight's story, but nobody can do that for Arkham VR. This rant is more the ranting of someone who couldn't afford PSVR.
(Cont.) This rant is more the ranting of someone who couldn't afford PSVR and/or didn't properly plan for it in advanced (we've known since E3 so we've had time to save). In trying to justify not having it, you throw AMAZING games under the bus. I cannot think of something more irresponsible for a gaming channel.
+SmoothLegend
And one more thing, Batman was not mocking Nightwing, he was using logic and detective skills to deduce seemingly impossible things (since he didn't realize it was him at the time). Nightwing IS profoundly important to him, but Robin's life was still on the line so he put grief aside for the time being, which really showed the strength of his character and his fortitude to do that in a time of great loss. If Robin wasn't in danger, he would've broke just as he did in Injustice. I myself felt a little broken as I stood there looking at his broken body as my Batwing waits hovering above me. That's a moment where you really feel like Batman, the way that sounds hovering above you with the light beaming down on you/Nightwing and papers flying everywhere.
Also, I spent a good two hours before I beat it. Like Journey, length is irrelevant in this game. More so here, where you can spend as much time in each area as you like.
SmoothLegend Preach it brother!
This game was awesome even though it was short. So far this game did everything in vr right as well as didn't make me nauseated....The 3D is perfect and makes you want more...
I would love a Nightwing (and possibly the rest of the Bat family) game that takes place after Arkham Knight.
Anyways, some theorize that the ending is how Batman realizes he has the Joker decease in him.
Well, you got your wish.
@@angrysonicbird6779 Apparently Gotham Knights isn't an Arkham game though.
@@HOTD108_ well it's close enough.
Glad I'm not the only one that noticed that Batman sounded like he didn't care that he just found Nightwing dead
you also get hints when you analyze your blood in the batcave that the blood is contaminated by jokers blood
This helped me a lot... I was so confused when I watched the ending
It's still a dream. His biggest fears. Words are backwards in dreams? What?
I can't say I've ever tried to.
You can take that as a real premonitory dream of what is going to happen in Knight about jokers consciousness taking over Bats. Thats like a prologue of Knight.
So interesting, and of course that dream tells you what would happen if Joker would have won that final fight in Knight.
WAIT IS THAT U INTERPRETED THE ENDING OF ARKHAM KNIGHT MENT. that's awesome
The riddler challenges were the funnest part of arkham vr for me
I think that it's a dream before the events of Arkham Knight because in Arkham Knight, he almost gets robin and knightwing killed as well as getting pulled towards the joker side of him. The whole Arkham VR is a warning for batman himself and foreshadow for the actual Arkham Knight game. It's like a spooky foreshadow and I love it!
Are you going to be streaming/posting gameplay for return to arkham? I personally pre ordered it so i'm hyped to get it
Who complained about nightwing's costume? I think it looks awesome
It's basically a demo of what the tech can do. I played it and it was fun being teleported into Arkham world.
ITS A TECH DEMO!!!! It was a experiment, even rocksteady said this, they weren't expecting this to be amazing that's why not that much was shown in the trailer, C'MON knight wing I thought you did your research...
I can read in my dream, so what do you have to say about that?
I can also read in my dreams :|
Always found that Batman Animated episode off xDD
FearDeFreak That episode was really really deep and almost disturbing, that might be of of the best in my opinion.
Minchken ohh I really loved that episode, as a kid and still today.
Just saying that I have read stuff in my dreams so Bruce realizing he is dreaming because he can't read feels off now as I'm older (and after having read stuff in my dreams). :D
FearDeFreak Yeah, I guess maybe to some people they can't read in their dreams, and seeing his books all jumbled like that would be a big give away to him being in a dream.
So I think it would go either way.
in a batman ep he couldnt. so he might be talking about that
Perchance to dream...that was one of the BEST episodes of batman the animated series now you make me want to watch my DVDs XD
You're right about the story, but you should know that at the beginning you can find the blood samples of the Joker-infected patients from Arkham Knight, take your own sample, and do an analysis of them both, and from what Wikipedia says, "learn something about Batman's biology". I think it's because of Joker's blood inside Bruce.
Most stories in dreams don't really follow reason. It's why dream theories are so hated in media, they take away any logic and sense you had just to say "it's a dream so anything can happen!"
So I've just spent like 20 minutes looking everything up and I'd like to clarrify a few things for the people who are confused. Arkham VR happens after the events of City, but before Knight, and is supposed to be a hallucination and batman realizing he has joker inside him
I was about to go play games. I saw this in my sub feed and I had to watch you rant
thanks
kNIGHTWING01 spoiler suicde sqad review?????????????
This game is dissapointing nightwing is my favorite character just to see him die is heart renching thank you knightwing01 iam not going to get it
Being convoluted is no different than the rest of DC comics. DC has always been convoluted in some way. Which is why they have rebooted themselves so much. There are always holes. Nightwing being dead is something that shocks you - the story does its job. That being said, I haven't bought the game or will buy it, but the story seems very unique and different than anything else. At least they've done something that hasn't been done before.
Honestly, whilst I love the arkham games, I don't regret buying this and the VR, it's so much fun being batman and the ending sequence was actually terrifying just to keep turning and looking
so in the every end batman became the joker
brobower mitch And it was alll a dream....
{GD} [OSU] Nero true
brobower mitch Which he always was... Each villain represents a part of Batman he's fighting against.
I agree that the game felt short, unfortunately all the VR games out currently are pretty short compared to the lengths of games we are used to. hopefully that will change with time. as far as the overall experience, it was very enjoyable.
A kwing rant video? This is gonna be gooood *Grabs popcorn*
When you said "Lex Luthor" i just went to watch "Smallville" XD
So......what??? That makes no sense how? what? who? Canon? rocksteady why???😭
This game is all a nightmare that Batman has.
Isostormgamer 558 really?
yes it is. Joker gives Batman a dream that shows his worst fear of becoming the Joker and turning on his friends and allies.
it's suppose to be batman's first joker hallucination. like this is when batman found out he was turning into the joker. and what makes him round up and quarantine the other joker infected citizens from arkham knight.
pish posh three words:
Waste. Of. Money.
I wish rocksteady make batman beyond how cool is that!!
At the end it's revealed that batman is the one who killed night wing so this game is probably most likely a dream
If you were going to spend $500+ just for one single game, that you knew was only one hour long, you have other problems to worry about than this game.
Thanks for the heads up K Wing
wow. I'm dissapointed. Didn't think Rocksteady would do a cash grab like this. Really? a dream? if they would've done it like Perchance to Dream style where you wake up at the end and take down whoever did this to you I would've been fine. but this? just being some random dream? completely non canon?
it's canon but a dream
+Comrade DOOM Doge *its
Patrick Burns well thank you comrade
Comrade DOOM Doge Thank you sir for being a decent human being!
Wow! This game sounds like a big waste of money! And I was so looking forward to this game :/
Yeah but I watched it
deon mickey So did I. But either way, I wish the game was longer or better.
By the way, when Kwing said Bane died in the Arkham Knight prequel comic, I thought "It did not happen! I refuse to believe that!" I love Bane, so yeah.
Yeah about the thing about bane you can find bane's stuff in the map of arkham night and Aaron cash says bane is off somewhere in the trophy room
deon mickey So technically, he's alive?
I heard there's a reference to him in Arkham Knight, but that's it.
I think he's alive you know continuity he might be hiding I don't know there's not enough evidence and I've been trying to work that out and i'm a conspiracy type of guy only when it comes to DC and Marvel not that type of conspiracy type of guy
I thought it was fine till Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight showed up...then I started getting confused
What if it's a scarecrow hallucination? With the alarm going off and Alfred sometimes trying to wake him up, and the writing being readable that would make sense
did you notice the ending ? it's the cell door from the Wayne manner challenge map it basically told you the game
I see the ending as like arkham city joker blood cure was temporary and the end of arkham knight is batman putting joker aside of his sub concious as he waant that much of a problem for him then but when he stops thinking of joker, jokers blood takes advantage of not being bruces main concern amd takes over him completely. So in a way arkham joker really did win and had the last laugh
Love that background music Kwing:)
They recycle music from City in the Game...soooo works for this video. =)
Totally does!
kNIGHTWING01 it fits the tone
I think Arkham VR is ultimately a test for the Batman Beyond games they will inevitably make.
wait it can't take place before arkham k ight because nightwing and robin are both in arkham knight,so wouldn't this take place after?
When you said in a dream you can't read since writing its backwards it reminded me of Batman:The Animated Series season 2 episode 2 "Perchance To Dream". Where Bruce is dreaming and figures out he is mostly by seeing that writing in books in wayne manor do not make sense, since the writing is well, backwards.
Omg lol sorry i should have finished the video i literally typed this before, no joke. We are alike in many ways then haha.
So it's a dream?
Yes
+Input Chunk55 i see what you did there
Input Chunk55 that was pretty good
What are the prequel comics again? I still wanna read them.
Kwing love your batman stuff
just curious how you feeling about Gotham now I think it's getting better but still need work?
Arkham VR totally fits right into the timeline, after Arkham City but before Arkham Knight. It is all a dream, but not in a lame stupid way. The whole game is littered with hidden references and secrets related to sleep and waking up. Theeam really disturbs Batman, causing him to draw a wall of crazy theories trying to explian the dream. You can see Batman's wall of crazy in the Wayne Manor challenge map in Arkham Knight. It really ties very strongly into Batman's mindstate which is actually a very important Arkham Knight plot point. Arkham VR is canon.
The Arkham comics are simply not canon. The only events that count for the games are events in the games. And maybe the Assault on Arkham film, although that is at least questionable.
PSVR sucks. I played it on Windows MR at half price because I'm patient and awesome.
I've got batman vr and honestly it was good
i think it takes place right before arkham Knight and its all just a vision batman had as he was going crazy
I can believe it
Wow, well I for one had a blast and if I paid $30 for a 'ride' at a theme park or something for this, I would've said that was totally my money's worth.
Guys, the whole point IS the VR, the story is good, intriguing and the whole value in it, is you get to BE frigging Batman.
Completely worth it, but I agree again with one of the other commenters, you don't buy the whole VR system for one game, unless you're an insanely diehard Batman fan, and if you are that, then you have to experience this at least once in your life. Go round to a mate's place and play the game through. Totally worth it !!
I played for free at my local library. :D
I kinda like the idea batman and the joker are the same person, bruce Wayne went insane from a kid seeing the death of his parents.
Thank you for explaining the ending today
batman vr just reminds me of a phycological thriller idk it just doesn't feel like a batman game and the ending being a dream is ridiculous
The revelation is probably meant to reveal that this nightmare is what made Batman start to become aware that Joker's blood was affecting his mind in Arkham Knight. So this takes place before all that.
Name is still alive, there is a riddle you have to solve in the city and it gives you the back story
Bane sorry
could you use the VR for Arkham Asylum and City remastered? BTW I thought nightwings killer was deathstroke.
Thank you for all you said about Batman vr
KWING, anyone, explain this to me? Was at Target thinking about buying the VR yesterday (not for this, for RE VII), but can't get a clear answer. Is this another $20 VR disc you have to buy, or recognizing the IP popularity, is it a pack in?
Damn thing is expensive enough on its own.
What I think is, the games takes place after city and is all a dream in batmans head, and it's what convinces him that he needs to lock himself up in knight or else he'll hurt all who is close to him i mean a lot of things point to it being a dream, like the arkham asylum bit being the joker in his blood first signs of taking over and the Alarm clock sounds near the end
So, everything that happens is a big Scarecrow fever dream?
so the whole vr story is about Brucie boy here having a nightmare
thanks Kwing
Sure the story it self may not be that impresive but that is because they probly focused more on making it feel like you were there and how many people who ACTULY played it. It did a really good job doing so
maybe the game is literally VR and its one of batman simulations to see how much he can deal with it
I kind of didn't want to watch this because a part of me wanted to play this but then realize it would cost WAY to much so I decided to stick through and wow that was a great choice
apparently kwing this is part of the reason why he shuts out nightwing and robin in arkham knight. he dreams this and is terrified of what he will become so durring arkham knight he pushes away everyone because he doesn't want his dream to become a reality and the fact that arkham vr takes place after city and before knight proves this is entirely plausible
Correct, Jessie. But I'm limited with what I can do with my Voice these days and needed this video shorter. You can hear my voice go a little near the end of this video on the word Perchance to Dream. But totally agree, that's why he pushes people away, because no one could stop a Batman Joker.
ya keep it up i love your video's
It kinda dosen't make sence so is nightwing dead? did batman killed him while slowly becoming the joker? or is it just a dream before or after arkham night?
I've never had a dream where words were backwards. Where the hell did you get that from?
Dream sequence dude, chill
BTW this isn't cannon bc if you go to the case files or something you see case files on arkham city and arkham asylum but not arkham knight. and at the end thing keep appearing and changing randomly and they can't do that irl. plus you can tell its before arkham knight because all the other people who were contaminated haven't been captured by Batman. and finally the game was awesome I'm glad I got to play it with no spoilers because being Batman was on of the most fun gaming experiences
the entire time Tim Drake was being cannabalsed I was yelling NOT TIM TIM
This is my summary of the game-
Ahem... At the beginning of the game, if you pick up the phone and listen to Vicki's voicemail, she says that Bruce stood her up in a party. WELL! What if Bruce went to that party? What is, say, Bruce had too much to drink? I think that the game is just Bruce being drunk. Thank you, thank you.
What I don't like about the footage, is that the Arkham Knight models are used for the characters.
You can read in dreams. I know I've done it, unless your talking in the Batman universe, because of the episode with the Mad Hatter in the Animated Series in the 90s.
kwing I just saw return of the caped crusaders and I loved the 1981 reference of wanna get nuts, lets get nuts! I also liked the cheesy humor and how there wasnt just 1 villain it focussed on all 4. I would like to see your opinion though.
but this can set up the first time Batman find out he is affected by the Joker blood. a prequel to Arkham Knight explaining why he search for others people affect by the blood and before he try to suppress it.
I know, because batman was injected with the jokers toxic blood in arkham city then we learn in arkham knight it basicly turns you into the joker well this is what happens with batman in batman arkham vr and it happens to someone in arkham knight too, Henry
