Wow..I tell you what iv listened to Type O for many years and heard this song quite a lot. I always thought this lyric was.. " I could easily STOP pointing fingers/Since the blame is mine it always lingers I always took that line as he knows he's to blame but he still pointed fingers at everyone else. Today I found out the lyric is actually "I could easily START pointing fingers. See this channel and you are awesome for a plethora of reasons. For one iv become more aware of the correct lyrics lol
This is one of my favorite songs and some of my favorite lyrics in any song ever. "It's better to burn quickly and bright than slowly and dull without a fight" These are also my favorite lyrics.
I've loved this song since it came out. It was the first time I really started to understand how well Peter and Kenny's vocals work with each other - it's not surprising you struggled to differentiate. After Peter passed away, I saw Kenny and Johnny's band Seventh Void, and they played some of World Coming Down. Hearing Kenny belting out the chorus broke me, and I'm not ashamed to admit I bawled my eyes out. I got the chance to speak to the guys after their set - lots of hugs and a huge thank you from me that I got to hear at least some of the song played live one last time. 💚🖤
Great reaction way to start the day! :) this is easily their darkest album for sure. Death, addiction and heartbreak were pretty prominent on this album. Pete was losing family, including having just lost his father during the October Rust tour, and his drug/alcohol addiction were really taking a toll on him. When they sat down to start the creative process, Peter said he didn’t have any more ideas, and Kenny told him to look at everything happening in his life, and this album was the result. So raw, emotional and brutally honest. Absolutely beautiful work. Love ya Pete💚 Now go check out Haunted next! :) Changed my perception on music
Peter has a bunch of different vocal styles, and Kenny has recognizably one nasally one. Kenny sings the chorus here (except the third time and last time) So if it doesn't sound like Kenny, it's Peter, except for the rare female vocals on a couple of songs. When it sounds like a choir in some songs, that is also Peter. The more songs you hear with Peter's different voices, the more you'll tell the difference.
Josh also does some spots like the "Core todo vida" in september sun & I think even Jojhnny gets in on some gang vocals & harmonies.I need to reference more live stuff to know. But, ya, in the studioits 99% Pete & 1% everyone else.
@@_BLACKSTAR_ You mean Kenny sings Para todo vida. I know the others do backups live, but I'm not sure about the studio, it could be Peter on multiple tracks.
yup. intro was solid good old pete. i nearly doubted myself even tho i listened to this song for the first time like 20 years ago but when she said that was kenny it messed with my mind a bit. it's a shame i've never been to one of their concerts btw.
So frikkin' glad you did this song. For me, World Coming Down captures TON at their heaviest and scariest, and the way the lyrics and music describe an unimaginable level of despair bring me to tears every time I listen to it. It also connects me to a time in my own life when I was following TON around New England and wallowing in my own self pity. And the killer for me is when Josh comes in with the beautiful keyboard at the absolute moment of the song's climax. Love your videos Lauren, and thanks again for doing WCD.
The first part of the song, it's Peter singing. Then Kenny comes in and then Peter again. You can check out a live version of the song if you want to see who sings when. From that album, Pyretta Blaze is also worth checking out.
Depressing AF = Gravitational Constant, Too Late (frozen), Red Water, Die with me, The Dream is dead, Everyone I love is dead, Everything Dies, Electocute, Todd's Ship God's. I'm sure there's a couple more that didn't pop into my head.
For what it’s worth, World Coming Down is my favorite Type O Negative song. The entire albums is so good from beginning to end. I was lucky enough to see them live twice back in the 90s and both times were amazing. I did see them on the World Coming Down tour and they did play this live and it was just as good performed live as on disc. BTW, the show I saw them at for that tour was literally one day after the album was released so I really didn’t have much time to become acquainted with the album. All I can say is that when I went back and listened to the album after that show, it was just mind blowing how good they performed the songs they did play from that album. I miss these guys terribly. 🤘🏼💔
If you want depressif and a reminder of our own mortality, you should listen to "Red Water". Pay extra attention of the mix made with a Christmas song and the funeral march
Have to throw this in... Two of the finest tracks from this album, and VERY worthy of your time, are "Who Will Save The Sane?" and "Creepy Green Light." "All Hallow's Eve" has some great Kenny vocals, too. But if you ever catch yourself bored with nothing to react to....do the "Day Tripper" medley and get Type O doing the Beatles! Then you'll finally hear the Drab Four! Thank you for this one. Have backed off listening to Type O to go along with you as much as I can. 🤓
Thankyou ..was looking for a reaction video that covered some Type O Negative songs besides the typical Black #1. Which everyone does. New to your channel, but hey, cats and all my favorite music, what's not to like? Love it all. I also love all the other bands on your channel. And the best part is you do more in depth cuts not just the usual crap. Total fan now.❤
Before Type O Negative, Peter Steele was in a thrash band called Carnivore and they did a cover of the Jimi Hendrix song "Manic Depression." It's not depressing, per se, because Peter's vocal style on Carnivore albums was kind-of funny. But if you want to hear Peter before he started doing tongue trills and Gregorian chanting, Manic Depression is a good choice. And I think you'd get a kick out of the band pictures. Peter was fond of headbands back in the 80s.
I don't condone excessive drinking, however this song is SO good to listen to full blast on headphones when you're by yourself and heavily sauced up haha the bendy guitars and hammering vocals just melt your brain it's amazing. *edit another one by them which is perfect for drunk time is called "IYDKMIGTHTKY (Gimme That)", it's my fucking jam😫🤌
So glad you were introduced to Type O Negative! Favorite band by far! Just watched your videos and this was Peter majority of the e time singing with Kenny on the chorus! There are so many amazing songs! ENJOY!
17:08 It's a sitar at the end, TON sometimes used its melancholic sound on parts of their songs. I love those moments💚🖤. You can check e.g. 'Can't loose You' for more😏👍
The entire *World Coming Down* album I wouldn't recommend for regular Pop music listeners or even casual Type O fans. It is a gloomy, dark, downer of an album. Which is why mostly only hardcore Type O/Carnivore fans can appreciate it. I love the fact you can jump right in to a song like this and totally dug it. Gives me hope for fellow listeners!
Most hardcore Type O fans adore this album. Not sure who the ones who don’t like it are but, this album was an instant Type O classic the moment it was released. Also, keep in mind most Goth Metal fans in the 90s grew up listening to bands like The Cure, Laibach, and Skinny Puppy in addition to Black Sabbath, Metallica, and Slayer. Depressing, gloomy, and dark were what they were looking for. But, I agree that it’s cool Lauren can appreciate it so quickly. Even Anesthesia… I’ve been a Type O fan for over 30 years and it took me several years to appreciate that song. That she did as her introduction to Type O is amazing.
World Coming Down was their way of coping with Peter's diagnosis and into the beginning of his decline. Life is killing me is about his experiences in attempts to treat the condition. Both albums become orders of magnitude darker when you realize how savagely personal they are.
As a long-time Type O fan, i can respect the result of the poll, but i wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is not a hardcore Type O fan. Seems that in this case popularity overshadowed quality. Any song from October Rust would be a far better pick. My recommendation: Haunted
@@MusicCatsandCoffee Ha ha. No. And a correction, it’s Everything Dies. Just a great song. Peter wrote it after dealing with a lot of deaths in his family.
For me, it's just hard to beat the lyrics in the chorus, but the following is so relatable that they may be my favorite: I don't understand why joy Must be feigned I'm so fortunate yet Filled with self-hate Make sure you check out Everything Dies and Everyone I Love is Dead from this album for more great music with depressing, but relatable lyrics.
Most of the singing is Peter. Kenny does the chorus. Peter has quite a vocal range. Check out some of his vocal range videos on RUclips if interested. This is a good song, but Haunted is still worth doing. It's more ethereal and lingering, if that makes sense. Love that you're getting into TON. Now all you have to do is read the Soul on Fire book 👍
The live version of this song that I recommend you check out is at the following link. It is from Halloween 2001 in Old Bridge, New Jersey. The Soviet Army shirt Peter is wearing is a reference to the Societ invasion of Afghanistan, as this was less than two months since 9/11. Unlike the performance from Germany in 1999 that others are recommending, it is not professionally filmed. However, the raw emotion in this performance makes it a more powerful performance. ruclips.net/video/6rXPhSN5Ols/видео.html
I really enjoy your Type O reactions. I’ve watched them all. This time I played a drinking game : every time you said “anesthesia”…I had to take a shot. I’m pretty messed up right now. I’d love to see your reaction to IYDKMIGTHTKY (Gimme That). Keep the type o reactions coming! P.S. Anesthesia is my favorite too. There’s a live version of Anesthesia on RUclips you’d love. Good song, heavy, depressing, but man it can sometimes go on too long. Maybe I like the faster songs more than the long depressing songs that can drone on and on and on and ..on. Anyway, glad you liked it Lauren
This whole album is dark. In later years the band would say that it was not one of their best efforts because it was so bleak, lacking in any humor. It can be a difficult listen, but is not without reward. Everything Dies and Who Will Save the Sane are highlights of the type o catalog. Some would say better than Anesthesia :)
You gotta do early Anathema, Silent Enigma or their next album. Listren at least, not necessarily react on public :). Although that one is more, well, special. Type-o is more relatable for most, more personal. Even though Pete struggled with depression issues there were his core, not as much relational, his lyrics are really love/relationship related. Which always put them down for me (to each his own, like I said). Anathema is more, well, transcendental..
I’m so happy you finally reacted to this song, I knew you’d like it! Another couple of recommendations is Blood and Fire ruclips.net/video/HtD4Nix0tXk/видео.html which is a B side gem that I think you’ll love! Plus you’ll be the first person I’ve seen react to it
Yeah Peter was definitely not in a great place when they made that record, and also at the height of his substance abuse problems and suicidal ideation. In fact there are multiple transition tracks of different ways to die throughout the whole thing. The humor was still unmistakably there, but Pete was not doing much joking.
I feel safe to ask this.... people watch reaction channels because they already know the song and enjoy it therefore want to see the enjoyment and reaction from the one on the reaction Channel. So the people watching don't need explanations every 5 Seconds pausing in the most inopportune time. There's channels out there that know this proper formula and I wish the channels that I like the host of, would take that in account. You set up the song or video to be reviewed and reacted to, you listen to it in its entirety..... once it's complete, then you Chit Chat give your opinions your critiques etc.... I don't know how people can listen to a song they know and love and watch somebody pause it every 10 seconds and chit chat about things they already know. Just saying, come on people. So my question that I feel safe to ask... why!?
If you don't like my videos, don't watch my videos. It's really that simple. So I also feel safe asking you the same question, why? Perhaps watch something you don't find fault with, and then we'll be both be happy. Have a good one.
What's your favorite line from this song?
I have to go with:
It's better to burn quickly and bright
Than slowly and dull with a fight.
❤
I'm so fortunate yet filled with self hate
But the mirror shows me an ingrate
“Better to live as king of beasts then as a lamb scared and weak” but the whole song is great!

In fact there are multiple transition tracks of different ways to die throughout the whole thing. The humor was still unmistakably there, but Pete was not doing much joking.
FYI I don’t think you’ll like Haunted, I could be wrong but I would be surprised if you do
Kenny sings only chorus.
Yes more depressing stuff.
Joyride Chevelle
Could you do my girlfriends girlfriend? Its a good song :)
Did you see dudes spinoff band called Type B Positive? LoL
No but really to each their own but I just don't see how anyone can listen to this band.
I don't see how anyone can listen to Slipknot either but I get through it.
@@PeterSTIHL Hey Peter... Where you goin... with that cHaInsAw? in you hand... 😆 🤣
