I miss the robin hood aspect of Oliver Queen. They shouldn't have finished the list so fast in the first season. It should've been something that kept coming back during the whole series. With Robert putting all kinds of secrets within that book. Puzzle's that Oliver has to solve. That could've been a great plot device to tell stories with.
+Kaiser It would make Oliver look incompetent if he couldn't handle it in the 3 year timeline the show has as of now and it would make Robert look like The Riddler if he purposefully complicated something he wanted Oliver to do for no reason.

So, he had knowledge on how to make a frigging "hacking arrow" and the knowledge on how to actually hack into Adam Hunt´s PC and transfer all his money to another account in a way it can´t be traced....but somehow he needs to find someone else to be the tech genius of the team....And he can´t even help his own son in season 6 to do math homework.....Either he got dumb after some beatings or the show forgot he was capable of this feat on season 1.
Well, I think that back then, since he was the primary focus of the show(hence the name of the show), he had the majority of the screen time and therefore the show had to show him as the capable hero, which he was, at least back then. Nowadays there are way too many people on the screen and they have to make sure all the other characters get attention and enough interest from the viewers, which therefore means that Oliver gets less and less screen time and his character's skills have to be dumbed down, so there is enough space for the other characters in the 45 minutes per episodes that they have.

I agree that it's stupid that they made Oliver dumber in future seasons for the sake of giving the other characters (namely Felicity and Curtis) something to do. They actually addressed this back in Season 5 Episode 22 "Missing". Malcolm Merlyn said, "Back before The Undertaking, some of my associates, especially those who were on the wrong end of your bow, thought that the hood had computer skills." Oliver replies, "I had good hardware and a specific purpose." So I guess the writers are trying to play it off as Oliver bought the "hacking arrow" from someone else? Regardless, it's still lazy writing. Also, in the later seasons of Arrow (mainly seasons 7 and 8) they're starting to backtrack and make Oliver smart again. During the Elseworlds crossover, Oliver was able to hack into the GCPD Criminal Database and figure out that John Deegan was the guy they were looking for. When Kara brought up the fact that he knew his way around with a computer, Oliver says, "Well, when I was first starting out, I had to hold my own before Felicity showed up." That was great to see, but then why was he acting like he was completely computer illiterate whenever Felicity explained some computer hacking thing to him? The writing is just inconsistent and it's really annoying.

Arrow season 1 is easily one of the best opening seasons ever in history of TV. I would easily put it in all time top 10. Prison Break season 1 is definitely there as well
I actually noticed a difference between this and the fight scenes in the show now. Season one was a bit darker (in regards to lighting) and there were a lot more jump cuts in the fighting in season one than there are now.
Olicity didn't ruin the show....it was the forced Drama in Olicity that Helped to ruin it....because the stupid writers also went and ruined Diggle/Oliver's relationship in the same way they did Olicity in s6ep17. But utimately, Arrow was Still kind of good at the end of s3 because Oliver was still killing then...Now, when they've made him into a generic batman who hypocritically preaches about his not wanting to kill evil masterminds, the show Really sunk and became a shadow of its former s1 self.
The magic...and their making Oliver Queen into a wuss who can't even take care of his own problems anymore and has to call the FBI for help....this Oliver right here would have hung Diaz out to dry with an arrow in Diaz's the heart, Long before Ever even Thinking about turning himself in to the fbi.

I liked the whole League of Assassins thing. But I agree, he should’ve remained an angry vigilante, sort of shrouded in mystery and always working from the shadows. That’s exactly why Arrow used to be such a great show.

Actually the only guy that defiantly died (at 1:01), was gunned down by Hunt's men. The other two guys received arrows to the middle torso that they could likely survive with proper medical attention (depending of course on the exact placement of the arrow). The last guy I couldn't tell where the dart hit him, but most of the security team likely survived.

As well Drakon is and I quote on of the best martial artists in the DC universe, but no they throw him away like all the other GA villains e.g. Vertigo, Komodo and they even turned Merlyn into everybody's bitch. Actually the only guy that defiantly died (at 1:01), was gunned down by Hunt's men. The other two guys received arrows to the middle torso that they could likely survive with proper medical attention (depending of course on the exact placement of the arrow). The last guy I couldn't tell where the dart hit him, but most of the security team likely survived.
