It was important to fight against this orwellian idealogy that there were politicians, and celebrities to fight back. I understand that this is an emotive topic and that the facts are in opposition to many people's instincts. But the scientific and factual evidence is simply indisputable, and it runs completely contrary to everything Linehan says (see below). It's very sad that he has gotten caught up in this. It's a medical issue, and he is not a doctor. I would advise anyone to just look up some basic information and try and have some empathy for these children. Here's a brief summation (link provided below) of the situation: 'The truth is that data from more than a dozen studies of more than 30,000 transgender and gender-diverse young people consistently show that access to gender-affirming care is associated with better mental health outcomes-and that lack of access to such care is associated with higher rates of suicidality, depression and self-harming behavior. (Gender diversity refers to the extent to which a person’s gendered behaviors, appearance and identities are culturally incongruent with the sex they were assigned at birth. Gender-diverse people can identify along the transgender spectrum, but not all do.) Major medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Endocrine Society, the American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association, have published policy statements and guidelines on how to provide age-appropriate gender-affirming care. All of those medical societies find such care to be evidence-based and medically necessary.' www.scientificamerican.com/article/what-the-science-on-gender-affirming-care-for-transgender-kids-really-shows/
But is it fair, to deny biological sex exists, and to label people bigots a d far right for saying in certain situations we can accept it exists and has consequences. Is the pain just being pushed around, with people being ostrichized just for saying biological sex exists,
The one thing I am concerned about is the word everyone uses freely.....Children. You said it yourself " have some empathy for these children."..Why is there such a rush to get hormones and surgery done to children who arent legally allowed to do anything else like vote, sex, drink, smoke, go to war, drive etc....but mutilating your body seems perfectly fine. And mental health vs mutilation doesnt seem an equal argument. Giving a 6 yr old puberty/hormone therapy that cant be fully reversed seems to me like abuse. If I let a child eat as much sweets and fatty food they want and they got morbidly obese is that considered abuse or therapy? After all, im just giving them what they want. . except getting fat is actually reversable unlike hormone therapy. The studies you quote say 3/4 are happy? for how long though? 5yrs? 10 yrs?40 yrs? pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10027312/ williamsinstitute.law.ucla.edu/press/transpop-suicide-press-release/ legitimate source material on the high trans gender suic!de rates etc..Not as happy as you may suggest unfortunately. Adults do what you like, but leave the kids alone. How about we treat mental health issues without surgery and hormones? They dont cut limbs off psychotic patients who REALLY believe they have no legs because that would be insane.
@ronan3607 Thank you for responding in good faith and I appreciate your concerns. I have looked at both of the links you provided. The first link from the National Library of Medicine is a review of studies concerning 'Suicide-Related Outcomes Following Gender-Affirming Treatment.'. The review confirms that the overwhelming majority of studies prove that gender-affirming care reduces suicidal ideation amongst the recipients of said care. Here are some quotes from the article you provided: 1). 'Turban et al. (2020) analyzed data from the 2015 USTS to include “3,494 individuals between the ages of 18 and 36 who ever wanted pubertal suppression as part of their gender-affirming medical care” as an adolescent. The results indicated that 89 (2.5%) of this sample received puberty blockers. Univariate analyses indicated lower odds of lifetime suicidal ideation as well as suicidal ideation within the past year for those who received puberty blockers.' 2). 'Access to these treatments in early adolescence was associated with lower odds of suicidal ideation over the past year compared to those who desired but did not attain these treatments. For late adolescence and for adulthood there were also lower odds of suicidality over the year preceding the survey for those who had access to gender-affirming hormones during those periods of life." 3). 'The suicide-attempt rate before gender-affirming surgery was 29.3%; following gender-affirming surgery, the suicide-attempt rate decreased to 5.1%. Patients who received all of their desired surgeries had lower odds of suicidal ideation and suicide attempt(s) compared to those who desired gender-affirming surgery but had not received any.' So the question then might be (and I think this is your concern?) why is there a higher rate of suicidal ideation in the transgender community? Are transgender people just mentally unstable to begin with? Thankfully the second link you provided (from the UCLA School of Law) addresses these concerns: 'The rates of suicidal ideation and self-injury among transgender people are alarming-particularly for transgender nonbinary adults,” said study author Ilan H. Meyer, Distinguished Senior Scholar of Public Policy at the Williams Institute. “A lack of societal recognition and acceptance of gender identities outside of the binary of cisgender man or woman and increasing politically motivated attacks on transgender individuals, increase stigma and prejudice and related exposure to minority stress, which contributes to the high rates of substance use and suicidality we see among transgender people.” The study also concludes: 'Evidence-based interventions are needed to mitigate the risk of serious mental health outcomes among transgender people,” said lead author Jeremy D. Kidd, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University. “This might include increasing access to gender-affirming care, or improving transgender community connectedness, which are related to lower rates of suicidality.'.
I think a big issue is in a lot of peoples minds "Gender affirming care" = "Cutting off someone's tonker" like thats the first port of call. Rather than talking therapies, hormone therapies and all the other care someone gets before surgery. I'm against surgery for children/adolescents, but I live in the real world where a kid can't just walk into a GP's office, say "Sort out my junk" and then be in an operating theatre the next week.

I would be interested to hear a summary of what you are talking about there. My own position is that nobody should be cancelled for any opinion or work of art at all. America did it with McCarthy and eventually came to realize it as a mistake and now it is being repeated with the opinions inverted.
James Acaster is naturally funny and eccentric which makes it more disappointing. Aren't people on the spectrum supposed to not care as much about fashionable beliefs and avoid getting sucked unto cults? Double disappointment.
There isn't even a connection between those three stylistically. Lee and Kumar are opposite ends of the comedy spectrum completely; arguably Kumar isn't even on that spectrum at all.
Why does Graham only ever mention women and girls? Why does he never mention the welfare of boys? And Stewart Lee, who is a comedy genius, hasn't been on the BBC for about a decade. And Robbie Williams is a complete narcissist. I love all of Graham's sitcom's, and I think he's in this for the right reason, but I think he's taken an approach that will never persuade people who don't already agree with him.

Is the trans subject not a really big topic that needs a sensible conversation in society, rather than militant statements from both sides. Rather than denounce without merit, the opposing sides' argument. Society should talk. Graham is a remarkable talent. The way he has gone about his messaging is questionable, but some of his questions are reasonable.. As are the desire for inclusion for trans people, who have existed as long as there have been humans. None of us have the answers on our own. It's only by coming together do we solve it.

Downvoted. How is Graham Linehan the arbiter of trans issues? Let's hear the opinion of trans people who live this reality every day, and align our society alongside their advice. Will Graham start telling us how black people should be treated next? He's entitled to an opinion, but that doesn't mean his opinion is worth anything.
@@Gos1234567 How so? Colour of skin and constructs of identity are merely that; constructs. People who are born with a sense of self that does not align with the outward projection of self are just as much caught in a backlash of societal rejection as any other person who has ever been an "other" in any society. If you disagree, perhaps you can provide some a good argument for that not being the case, other than, "No, you're wrong bro". What ever distinction society uses to determine who is "the norm" there will always be someone on the cusp of it, and that person will feel the weight of the society as a whole refusing to include and protect them. If you disagree with this, please allow some examples (that are not examples criminal behaviour or psychosis) that will counter this argument. See the problem here is that the people criticizing Linehan aren't all "woke". Some might be, and some are definitely not. The fundamental issue is Linehan opened his big gob and said a bunch of offensive crap and didn't bother to qualify or justify it in any way that could be construed as a reasoned opinion or point of view. And then he kept digging. And now he's a pariah. I think that is the major difference between himself, and some other people who have opinions on things like trans. For example I think JK Rowling makes completely legitimate points and attempts to discuss them in a reasonable way even if some of her opponents (and supporters) are extremely unreasonable. There are others who also have opinions between biological and identified gender. But Linehan isn't in that group. He should have kept out of it, or at least gone in with a point. So I think what has happened to him is self inflicted. He should look in the mirror if he wants to see who to blame for this.

I refused to back down, so after a standoff of five minutes he took me to the nearest police station! I argued my case with the desk sergeant and he finally relented and let me go free - though he noted that although it was not technically against the law to like both Stewart Lee and Graham Linehan, it damn well should be, and I should mind my tongue in future. It was important to fight against this orwellian idealogy that there were politicians, and celebrities to fight back. JK Rowling and Richard Dawkins, Ricky gervais, were too big to cancel, the small fry like the odd dance director or social worker were successfully cancelled by orwellian Bigots on this issue, but linehan was in between, more a back room staff guy who most people of that ilk were successfully cancelled, but as he appeared on camera every so often, he was able to use this, and ironically he has become more famous for opposing this orwellian ideai than the comedy circuit he has been banned from. @@SashaLea-g5j These days, if you even just say you're English...
Could you give an example of that please?
I understand that this is an emotive topic and that the facts are in opposition to many people's instincts.
But the scientific and factual evidence is simply indisputable, and it runs completely contrary to everything Linehan says (see below).
It's very sad that he has gotten caught up in this. It's a medical issue, and he is not a doctor.
I would advise anyone to just look up some basic information and try and have some empathy for these children. Here's a brief summation (link provided below) of the situation:
'The truth is that data from more than a dozen studies of more than 30,000 transgender and gender-diverse young people consistently show that access to gender-affirming care is associated with better mental health outcomes-and that lack of access to such care is associated with higher rates of suicidality, depression and self-harming behavior. (Gender diversity refers to the extent to which a person’s gendered behaviors, appearance and identities are culturally incongruent with the sex they were assigned at birth. Gender-diverse people can identify along the transgender spectrum, but not all do.)
Major medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Endocrine Society, the American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association, have published policy statements and guidelines on how to provide age-appropriate gender-affirming care. All of those medical societies find such care to be evidence-based and medically necessary.'
www.scientificamerican.com/article/what-the-science-on-gender-affirming-care-for-transgender-kids-really-shows/
But is it fair, to deny biological sex exists, and to label people bigots a d far right for saying in certain situations we can accept it exists and has consequences. Is the pain just being pushed around, with people being ostrichized just for saying biological sex exists,
Finally some facts in the comments. Thank you.

Here are some quotes from the article you provided:
1). Univariate analyses indicated lower odds of lifetime suicidal ideation as well as suicidal ideation within the past year for those who received puberty blockers.'
2). 'Access to these treatments in early adolescence was associated with lower odds of suicidal ideation over the past year compared to those who desired but did not attain these treatments. For late adolescence and for adulthood there were also lower odds of suicidality over the year preceding the survey for those who had access to gender-affirming hormones during those periods of life."
3). 'The suicide-attempt rate before gender-affirming surgery was 29.3%; following gender-affirming surgery, the suicide-attempt rate decreased to 5.1%.
Patients who received all of their desired surgeries had lower odds of suicidal ideation and suicide attempt(s) compared to those who desired gender-affirming surgery but had not received any.'
So the question then might be (and I think this is your concern?) why is there a higher rate of suicidal ideation in the transgender community?
Are transgender people just mentally unstable to begin with?
Thankfully the second link you provided (from the UCLA School of Law) addresses these concerns:
'The rates of suicidal ideation and self-injury among transgender people are alarming-particularly for transgender nonbinary adults,” said study author Ilan H. Meyer, Distinguished Senior Scholar of Public Policy at the Williams Institute. “A lack of societal recognition and acceptance of gender identities outside of the binary of cisgender man or woman and increasing politically motivated attacks on transgender individuals, increase stigma and prejudice and related exposure to minority stress, which contributes to the high rates of substance use and suicidality we see among transgender people.”
The study also concludes:
'Evidence-based interventions are needed to mitigate the risk of serious mental health outcomes among transgender people,” said lead author Jeremy D.

I know people, MASSIVE Harry Potter fans who got rid of all their books etc after she dared to voice her opinion, they'd disagree with you.
@@mikethebloodthirsty I'm sure there are people like that. I've encountered lunatics accusing her of "trans genocide". It's kind of stupid that people read all her books but can't even read what she said about trans rights or why it's nothing like the crazy bananas straw man they're attacking.
Herring, Lee and Buxton simp hard for leftist wokery.
What did he say, that you regard to be offensive crap.
Stewart Lee 🤮🤮🤮🤮
He is the best stand up though
Came here to enjoy some Stewart Lee hate
@@Dob_Ogurt for curing insomnia and those with weak, woke minds.
@@Dob_Ogurt Stewart Lee is an abject coward. and an establishment stooge.
He's really let himself go.
Stewart Lee is like modern art. His audience are too scared to admit he's shite because they will be accused of being too thick to "get him".
Never bought into the hype surrounding him. Always felt underwhelmed by his act.
Totally, he's always been pish 😂😊
Kind of. He did used to be very good, in my opinion, during his '05/'06 'comeback. It was a clever and subtle act. But has disappeared up its own bung hole some 10 year ago.
Thankfully I saw through Lee’s new clothes from day one and always expressed my dislike for his pseudo intellectual schtick🤮 Massive respect to Graham for standing up for the rights of women and children❤️
But he always makes me laugh, I rarely ever laugh out loud watching comedy on my phone, but Stew gets it done
Richard Herring has NEVER been funny. I despise him.
Neither is the left-wing wokerati poster boy Stewart Lee. Linehan has got it spot on about that little cretin, with his fake cockney accent and "right-on", sneering politics.
This really adds to the debate 🙄
There's one big reason you cannot criticise Graham and that is....Father Ted!
"I hear you're a racist now, Father"
It’s political correctness gone mad. I remember when you used to be able to get your whole family and jump in a threshing machine and now they’re going: “oh, they’ve banned Christmas”. It’s political correctness gone mad.
Whenever I see Graham, I just want to give the lad a big hug. He's been through so much shit. He's one of the gratest comedy writers of the 20th century and I'm sure he will be in the 21st too when he eventually writes his comedy about this transgender fad.
I know right. Whenever I hear the word victim I picture his big crying face.
@@lukebarton5075 I think I see what you may have done there, if you included commas in your reply.
@@lukebarton5075There needs to be an intervention at some stage. Such bitterness isn’t healthy.
I actually used to like Stewart Lee 10-15 years ago but I had no interest in politics at that age so a lot of his shtick went right over my head. It's clear to me now that man is super woke.
Same. It was when he started mentioning his lefty politics without actually saying anything. He knew he could get a cheap laugh from his student audience by just mentioning "UKIP" in a sarcastic way; but wouldn't actually address any of the concerns raised by UKIP at the time.
@@neilsun2521You know he is a comedian right?
@Domn879 is he? I thought he was a whiny regime man.
@@pyeriotsquad No, he is a comedian. The thing you said isn’t a thing.
@@Domn879is he though…..really?
I used to like Stewart Lee and Bill Bailey as comedians, but now I've lost all respect for them. They have no guts or integrity, they just want to stay employed by the BBC.
Same here. Both had me in fits of laughter. And I am certain they are still funny guys, but they have a platform and an audience, and could help end the insanity, and real world harm,if they only had a spine.
Are either of them actually employed by the BBC? As far as I can see Stewart Lee's last show for the BBC was in 2016.
Neither work for the bbc, they work for themselves cock
Or maybe they have a progressive nature to the world and the issues people have and find compassion . Could you give an example of something they have said that you dislike?
actually, it's the opposite; they have too much integrity for you. just go back to being confused about whether to approach a woman in a bar or not even though you never will. cheers.
I like Graham Linehan and Stewart Lee.
Me too, and Richard herring and Adam Buxton.
You can't like both you know; I was in a taxi the other day and I said I liked both, and the driver pursed his lips. I asked what the matter was, he shook his head, then said "You can't say that, these days. I'll forgive you, if you accept that you are wrong". I remarked that as an Englishman I felt that free speech was something we should all believe in, to which he replied "Right you're knicked! You know very well you can't say you're English anymore", which is how I came to be starting a five year sentence in jail. I'm only able to go on the internet to write this now because I promised the warden that I'd pleasure a tranny prisoner, with the warden watching. You couldn't make it up!
Down with that sort of thing. Careful now.
Ann Widdecombe has let herself go.
People in the future will look back on Graham Linehan the same way people now look back on those who used to make these same arguments about gay people.
You're so out of touch it's painful. You're invested in the eternal leftist regime timeline and its permanent revolution. Most people are not.
Is this the guy that wrote F Ted ? If it is he’s a flipping legend
Of course he is.
He's gone way down hill recently though.
@@donaldjuan4934 He's not comformimg to bs 99% of us agreed was ridiculous 10 years.

@donaldjuan4934 Yeah the militant extreme ones telling everyone what they should believe and ruining female sports and forcing themselves into female spaces is new and people are sick of it.
The biggest laugh is this guy criticising stand up comedians. His efforts at that are an embarrassment.
Still not as bad as people whining and moaning about woke.
All pear cider is woke. Especially the stuff made from 100% pear!
Stuart Lee, the least funniest man in the world.. Frankie Boyle the most offensive comedian ever, now gone to the dark side and finding offense in others, yeah right... Graham is brilliant, been treated abysmaly..
What about Stewart Lee?
😂
41st best stand up I think you'll find.
Stuert lee is the Gary Lineker of comedy nowadays, mainstream state-approved opinions, Just more hateful and cowardly
He was good in the 90s before he became bitter, dishonest and weak
Agree. Started off as smart and clever in the '90s on Fist of Fun. Slowly morphed into the opposite.
Stuert Lee?
Never heard of him
yeah, who is this stooert leigh they're all going on about🤷♂️
@@ChimpingBulldog He's not even a real hamster.
except gary lineker has a long history of being very outspoken against the government on social media, and has been dropped from match of the day *twice* because what he wrote "breached the bbc's rules on impartiality"
