Both allé and alley stems from french aller, meaning go/walk. And both have tall things on the sides (trees or walls), although that's probably something of a coincidence.
@@spareemail2221Not in Swedish though. Here that's just a gång, in a snabbköp, butik, or affär (or stormarknad, köplada, handelshangar). However, there are two other French inspired words hidden in that sentence, butik and affär.
