Once the foamboard is put together with the image in the frame, take clear vapor barrier tape (available at any hardware) store and seal that edge. Even a small edge like the one shown here will allow humid air in the frame. Vapor barrier tape will NOT. After taping...then staple.

Thanks for this suggestion, I need to do this! Do you think the vapor barrier tape should be applied after the staples? I would think that stapling through the tape will just create small holes through which vapor can still transfer. I live in a very humid tropical climate so I am definitely going to do this. Now I'm thinking of grabbing at least a 10 mil vapor barrier to put on top of the foam board too.

Water will still get in from the front. These suggestions are useless unless you waterseal the front glass first

So basically, just do this in an area that is not humid, cut your board so it fits snugly into the frame. Is that it?
