when we put on our headers we used guides too, Junior Johnson taught us that and we tightened them from the center out to keep them from jiggling out. Your dad is a good race mechanic and funny as hell.
It's hard to explain how satisfying it is for the the guys that assemble these when the car does well. I used to help a guy in WV that was a regular winner. I got to the track a little later than I normally did and they were putting transmission in the car. Clutch had started slipping. This was back in the triple disc days. I helped finish it up and he started last as missed heat race. Finished a close 2nd and the whole place about exploded. It was almost better than when he won. Loved that stuff.
Yes sir ! That’s what I like to see , car parts going on ! Can’t wait to hear the heart beat ! Thumbs up to your dad , always calm and cool ! Like to see yaw working together!! Keep us posted and get r done !! #56
I love y'all working in the shop , I feel like I'm there with you. I'm over 60 now but In my younger years I enjoyed building and running my on cars. Keep up the good work , and keep God in it. God Bless.
Keep pushing forward bud, car's starting to take shape good luck hope everything is going well for you and your family, can't wait for Friday to see the difference in the car.......
Hey Jonathan that’s some of the best times I miss the most spending time with my Dad and good friends that always found time in their busy day to help us work on the race car. Take care bud and stay safe.
I would also suggest a heavy gage ground strap to use as a body ground for the engine and MSD box. That connects to a location that is puts it in contact with bare metal. What normally suggest is a fine wire welding ground wire with two brass or copper eyelets to use as a chassis ground. Now this is what I picked up from someone who worked at MSD. When one of the race teams I was with was experiencing a issue with the boxes and modules in the distributor going out.
Car is coming together Good luck with it can’t wait to see the new videos We live up in Michigan but love dirt racing And really enjoy watching u and family race
The silicone trick I have never heard. Thats pretty awesome. First thing i thought was "at least I'll be able to find it if its in the fridge." Round my shop a tube of silicone is ALWAYS as elusive or more so than the 10mm socket.
For the headers, my heads have studs in them in them and I just use a washer and nut. Same concept as the guides you dad's using, just don't have to swap the stud out for a bolt.
Really really hope you guys get the car done cannot wait to see you guys run new car how cool is that Lord willing this will help you to be in the front:-) peace
I like using studs on the heads for the headers and with locking nuts with the oval thread holes. Not the nuts with the plastic lining. Now these are the locking nuts with the tapered back and the studs are two different threads sizes. One side to screw into the head and another for the nut. I believe it is 5/16 on the head side and 3/8 on the header side. All should be something like medium thread's and blue loctite. But again the nuts have to have the oval thread holes and if needed lock washers could be used.
Also another trick with any gaskets you may be running is coat them with a thin film of C5-A copper anti seize. They will still seal just fine but will never stick to the mating surfaces. It’s an old aviation trick we use. You can actually re-use most gaskets that are installed with this method if you are in a pinch and don’t have a spare
On the ball joints, tie rod ends we used to use implement pins (hair Pins) instead of cotter pins. This mad it a lot easier to adjust or replace when needed.
The ole all thread guide for the headers is a great Idea. I always end up getting silicone everywhere hahaha guess that's how we do it here in Missouri. Another great video keep it up
Chicago PD?!?! That’s what a DVR is for! Tell pops to get back to work we got race car stuff to get done!😂😂 looking good can’t wait to see how she runs!
Looking good she’s coming together. As for the headers, my heads have a few studs in them. Same thing your dads doing just not swapping the all thread out for a bolt. I tightened them from the center out just because in my crazy head that seemed the right way lol
Thank you for another great video, Now the video before this one you said you were taking the shock's off the Masterbilt and putting them on the Capital, Are the the same valving or do you have to run a spec shock In the crate class????? I agree with your Dad, Chicago PD. Is a great show and Is my Favorite too.
Transferring everything from one chassis to another is sure easier than building a new car from scratch when you have to gather up every piece, part, nu and bolt. Been there, done that. A never ending series of phone calls searching for and ordering parts, along with countless trips to a parts store for that piece you forgot.
Got a good start on it but many hrs of work left. But nice job on it. The headers --- middle out always (and have only one wrench to make it happen :). You know, I've know many many times that MSD box or distributor going out --- not only in my buddy's car and others alike; even the coils. That's why I run neither.... I run a Crane box with no issues -- no pills to buy either... just dial in your RPM and there ya go...... 1 coil went bad --- once! Just sayin'! LOL. Thanks for the update and can't wait for the next to drop.......... Be Safe
that is a sweet race car man I cant wait it on track tell your dad Chicago PD and Chicago Fire are my favorite shows you should let your dad and jesse drive the 56
How many races can you get on a 604 before you have to have it refreshed? Did you get the raise frame rail like your brother, so they are identical chassis. Make your old car a patreon sponsored car so we can help out and get more awesome content from yall. Yall are awesome
Yes, our cars are nearly identical. Our engines have both been freshened already but I've heard of guys getting 30-plus races out of a 604 with no issues.
Stage 8 Locking Header Bolts / Jegs.com. You may not need this on a crate motor, we had an unlimited class (open motor). We kept blowing valve cover gaskets Moroso Crankcase Evacuation System also Jegs.com Also I know you are not going to show the rear end housing because that is where the secrets are, but when I setup the rear end and the 4 links. I always make sure if I put a wrench on a link, if I pull the wrench down, it screws the link out (makes it longer). How I remembered it ( Down and Out). Reguardless of which side of the car you are adjusting, you will always pull down to lengthen the bar or push up to shorten the bar. This also works on the A arm links in the front end. You may have to swap bars end for end to get it right. Nothing special here, just little things that make adjustments at the track a little quicker and easier.
capitol needs to send me a 4x. I help 3 cars with setup at eams and moultrie. Capital is ok at eams, but when I was at needmore on 10-26-19, I could not help but notice that Shane was present and he was helping team capital with setup research. 14.25. not too bad, but the track was slick, and it usually ends up dry slick ad black. It was def not black on sat night. My help can be had cheep, =alll i need is a 3 sec mention

TECH TIP: building hot rods and street rods as well as dirt cars, trial and error with many different silicone products over the years replace your regular black rtv silicone with PERMANTEX RIGHT STUFF. It is hands down the best sealing product on the market.
@@gailtaylor1636 OK... on the 4-sale crate car... but I was talking about the 10 car that's right next to the old 56 car in the shop.... during this video.
The all thread in the Motor to guide the Trans and Headers on is a great idea. Also the starter button hanging on the fire wall is another great idea ! Middle out !

New car is coming along great!! Good job guys!! Is the new car gonna be 56?
Leon Foster yes
update on the 10 cars super late engine? any news on it?
As an old team manager I have been thinking about the problem of the old #56 car and have a couple of suggestions
1 start a gofund me or similar page you have 34,000 subscribers and if they all gave $1 it would go along way to running the extra car
2 sell the old #56 car and buy another capital this car can be used in several ways first of all its a spare for the #10 and the new#56 incase of damage at a critical time in the upcoming season
a 3 car team is much easier to pitch to a major sponsor
it can also be used to rotate your father, jesse and micheal to give them some seat time during the season and will help with feed back on set up
you will need to work with a graphic designer to help with corporate color schemes to increase marketing potential
you are no longer just drivers and team owners but now entertainers and as such need to look at things differently
Already pre ordered my shirt

No Hunt The Front spoiler decal yet on the new race car? How much $ for the old 56 car?

About time for a sprintcar lol
They don't run sprint cars in that region
