Electric Trains under the canal !!!! What will they think of next??? I've never considered the effect that it might cause to a vessel compass. Learn something new every day. Thanks for the tour, I enjoyed it!
Hallo Henk-Jan, Leuk filmpje weer. "against rudder" = "counter rudder" oftewel tegenroer.
NO, no, no......this vlog needs a health warning. The footage contains Henk-Jan singing and then.....ohhh my god Dad Dancing. I can't stand it this guy is truly 'bonkers'.....love it, more and more.
mmm rendition of "this is how we do it" is passable lol however the engineering of the Dutch is impassable, a great testimony of what mankind can achieve. Frank from Oz
Henk-Jan, greetings from my hotel in REYKJAVIK! My annual flying and trekking holiday in Iceland started Sunday. Well, notwithstanding the magnet compass problems, you were at least visually able to steer the boat. I think I would panic if I was relying on the compass coupled to the autopilot to steer the correct course in the middle of the Atlantic. Singing happy birthday to the birthday girl. That’s precious Henk-Jan! Humor is great medicine and you know how to remind all of us following your channel how to smile and laugh. Thanks. Dan
Wow Dan flying to Iceland. That’s something. I think flying a plane is a complete other experience than sailing. Both have their cons and pros, and both give a certain thrill. Enjoy the holiday!!
@@MVLadyLiselot Thanks Henk-Jan! After two years of limited travel it was due time break the bonds and hit the road. I’ll be coming back your way next month via Copenhagen and then over to Scotland for a family reunion. Things are looking up.
Hi Henk-Jan, you inspire me to go sailing alone and to dare more. Together was always my starting point, but alone may give me more freedom and I can sail more often. Your videos are educational, fun (including some self-mockery) in short, I like to watch them ... Groet Ron Maarleveld
Thank you, Henk for another informative and fun video. From canals to open sea, you will never stop learning and always be tested. Which is why we love it so much. I look forward to your next video
Another beautiful day on the water. I think maybe the sun in the Bahamas is higher for longer compared to the Netherlands. Less trouble with it being in your eyes or camera lens, but more trouble for you getting your head sunburnt. I have no such trouble... I live in Northern Ireland! Many thanks again for another fab video.
It's amazing to think there are trains under the canal messing with your compass. Of course we'd LOVE to see you in the Bahamas. It would be a worthy goal for sure. Is there any chance we might meet or see your kids one day? I hope they're proud of their Dad being able to sail and handle Lady Liselot by himself plus video and be such a successful and popular RUclipsr. 😎⚓️
Well there is not enough room in the tanks for fuel to get to the Bahamas, but perhaps when I find a matching sailboat… In the other hand… with a plan, Greece might be possible. My kids (nor friends) will participate in my vids, so sorry, but you have to deal with me.
Hey Gerrold when you watch the videos from native English speaking people, you will hear and see (titel) that they both drive and sail a boat. At least my native friends always talk about driving the boat, so I got used to that.
@@MVLadyLiselot I'll get used to it, probably the bad influence of Rod Steward that has bent my ears. I'm enjoying you navigating the Dutch waterways too much.
scherp
This drive-by singing has been majestic! Love the idea.
Thanks Henk-Jan for another great tour of Holland along the waterways on The Lady.
Hello Hans, always nice to read your comments

I know, Terry, One should know that water and electricity cause problems... ;-)
Thank you Henk.
You’re welcome, Michael

Hello Ron, thank you for your kind words. The moment one can manage things on his own, the special moments grow.
The was a pleasure to chitchat with the kids.

I see that Northern Ireland is on 54 degrees and The Netherlands is somewhere around 52 degrees. I think we face the same problems. ;-)
Thanks a lot for this interesting piece of vlog you shared with us! All the best for you and Lady Liselot - see ya next time!
Thank you, Peter!
Hoi Henk-Jan.

What is the round black thing in bow of boat. I like you videos, and way you explain procedures .
that's my "anchor ball". It is a so called daysign showing that I am on anchor and not able to maneuvre. At night I lit a lite on thop of my mast.

A " Local Magnetic Anomaly "
This one being man-made , there are natural ones as well .
Take care out there ! 🧭〰️🧲
It happens near bridges as well. Since I was not aware of that I made me pee my pants. Well almost.
One day when I hit the LOTTO I'll have to learn all these things.
Well Stuart, start learning it right now, so you can start te moment the money is in the bank!
Zing Schipper! + Zing!! :D !!
yep!
Is Holland still reclaiming land from the sea?
Yes. Most recently we reclaimed the Maasvlakte and Second Maasvlakte from the North Sea to extend the port of Rotterdam.
One sails a boat, you don't 'drive' it
