  • Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, I believe the Tator has met its match!!! We are called to bring our Peterbilt 389X Miller Industries, Century 1150R rotator heavy towing and recovery unit to winch out a "monster" forklift that has been buried to its frame in soft gravel. Oscar and I both kind of laugh when we see what we are up against. I let Oscar run the Rotator while I handle maneuvering the forklift. OH WHAT FUN!!!! Watch as we continue to receive God's blessings. There is much more to come!!! I hope you enjoy this video!!!
    We have a difficult and dangerous job and we take it very seriously, that doesn't mean we can't have fun and enjoy our work. We strive to be polite, professional, efficient, and safe...and still can have fun. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

      Exactly! And a major plus with that, is when Oscar is put on the spot with an expedited time table, while off the side of a highway, he will be able to make a quick decision and know what to do, and not take 10-minutes to figure it out. I think that Oscar will be leadership material someday once he learns the ropes, and gains more experience.

    I'm enjoying watching Oscar. The guy has a head on his shoulders and seems to anticipate what needs to be done. On the other hand, with a Yankem rope and a pickup, I think they could have done the job without a call to Midwest.

    • @stevenhoffmann9373
      @stevenhoffmann9373 3 месяца назад +4

      Doubtful the pickup truck method would've worked. The pickup truck doesn't have the weight required to move that thing. Trust me, I've had my share of forklifts stuck in FL sand.

    • @stellarproductions8888
      @stellarproductions8888 3 месяца назад +4

      @@stevenhoffmann9373 Frankly, thats not even the right kind of forklift for outdoor duties on varied terrain. I took one look at that forklift, and my mind went immediately to inside warehouse forklift. Tires are too narrow and have 0 traction for that. If you look at the majority of forklifts used on outdoor lots, they are usually big suckers, with big tires that grip, and usually weight like 35,000 pounds or more. This itty bitty thing can't be much over 5,000 pounds if that. Daddy always taught me, use the right tool for the right job. The workers have just learned this lesson.

    • @kevinstonerock3158
      @kevinstonerock3158 3 месяца назад +2

      @@stevenhoffmann9373. Based on size many believe it’s not that heavy, but with a counterweight it’s as heavy as two pickup trucks. If the truck was four wheel drive it might have a chance but the muddier it is the chance of success goes down quickly.

    I admire customer's decision-making process. They could try to yank it with a truck or do something else equally dangerous, but they decided to call for professional help. Good decision!

      True. We could say something about how small this project is. Because these guys are PROS.
      But... how many people have thought... I could do that.. and then spend MORE money fixing what they screwed up.
      As a famous man once said.. "A man's got to know his limitations".

    • @stellarproductions8888
      @stellarproductions8888 3 месяца назад +2

      If the customer had an F350 and a properly sized Yankum rope, they more then likely could have pulled the forklift out. But as it stands, they had a much smaller truck with a chain. Chains should never be used to be yanked on like a yankum rope, chains are not designed for that purpose. They were in serious danger zone attempting that as Ron explained to them. Also, they made the mistake of using the wrong type of forklift outdoors, they also learned that lesson too.

    Hi Ron = love seeing Oscar finding his comfort zone. A very high potential co-worker.
    But more importantly is you and others doing the campaign of kindness and respect for other people. I watch a wide variety of vlogs of people like yourself that I admire as quality people. It is so sad to witness the erosion of the common respect and kindness being replaced with anger and rudeness and the mutual message by all of you trying to turn the tide. Thank you for your effort and I hope all together the "good ones" can prevail and restore what was always so common before in our society. Even one of the major cruise lines issued an edict this week to either respect the crew or be put off the ship. Hopefully in a 2 person raft without a paddle someplace in the Bermuda triangl!!!!

    Oscar was honestly impressive on that job. Love to see you when people just know what to do and get it done rather than wait around to be told what to do. I definitely did get a chuckle the size of the forklift. One of my old jobs actually had pretty much that same model of forklift just an older generation and I can’t tell you the number of times I got that thing stuck in the stupidest ways like to get in and out of the shop there was about a 1 inch lip on the concrete which just so happened to be enough if you were not perfectly square, you would get one tired float in the air and get stuck due to an unlocked diff on the front granted that was normally easy enough to get out that you just grab someone else to give you a little bit of a push or if you did happen to do it when you were by yourself, we had a rope tied to the end of a block of wood that you could just drop in front of the tire and then once you’re loaded up and ready, give a little tug on the rope in it and shove the block of wood down

    I worked at a plant , warehouse / seed coating company we had a plant forklift and a warehouse / outside forklift ... the plant fork lift wasn't designed for anything but concrete floors, on a hot summers day even the hot asphalt wasn't gonna stand up to the weight of that thing. And the tires were smooth hard rubber , even so it ended up outside on the hardpacked gravel sometimes. When the big lift was busy loading trucks. Well I remember one time it went off the hardpacked and sunk, all four tires in the wet soil, we being intelligent men didn't need to call a big tow company, we had a bigger fork lift, and a chain we hooked up as short as possible stayed tight with the chain and simply pulled slowly it popped up as the Clark fork pulled it also lifted and no problem.
    Yes that little forklift with those tires needs to stay on the hard packed.

    Reminds of the time I got a small forklift like that stuck a few years ago.
    Had a stack of empty pallets I was bringing around back which was gravel and had a good idea it would get stuck but I was told to do it anyway even after voicing my concern.
    It had smooth tires intended for concrete and pavement surfaces which the front of the building had.
    I was trying to keep it on packed gravel the best I could and it was going well which surprised me it hadn't sunk.
    That was until I let the weight of the pallets off the forks that it started sinking.
    Soon as it started sinking I instantly went nope and loaded the pallets back on which I knew at that moment is what was helping prevent it from sinking after unloading them.
    I got stuck backing up to turn around and go back to the pavement.
    Soon as it got stuck, and knew it wasn't going to move, I didn't even try going back and forth with it as I knew the wheels digging would make it worse.
    Got my little pickup and a tow chain and a gentle tug was all it took to get it free because I hadn't buried the drives.
    I had also been watching Ron's videos at the time so had a better idea of what to do and what not to do.
    I had operated a larger forklift before this happened and that one would have been better suited for the task as the tires on it were suited for dirt, gravel and pavement.

    Nice pull out, but an RV dealer that handles 40 something foot long RV's should have been able to pull that out in their sleep. Thanks for the video!

    When a solid surface small forklift is stuck it might as well be a big one

    Were I worked at we had ten hilo's that were bigger than that one. Then we had a dually drive tire one also had one that use tractor tires. That was our off off road fork lift

    I'm not an expert on fork lifts, but I have operated a few and know that they're not meant to be driven on anything but firm pavement. Even your rotator, for all its power, would get stuck if you drove it on too soft or unstable of a surface.
