Adding the nature sounds and airplane in the editing was a really nice touch. It sort of cleansed the hearing. Like coffee beans at the fragrance counter.
Your videos make me miss the old days... catching trains to uni, then everyday to work in the city from the west, and eventually only taking the train a couple times in the last year since working from home :(
Between MacDonaldtown and Strathfield, the 2 tracks furthest from where your train was are the UP and DOWN local lines which are used by T2 Inner West and Leppington all stations services to Homebush, express services to Parramatta and Leppington, the next 2 tracks in the middle are the UP and DOWN suburban lines which are mainly used by T1 North Shore and Western line services to Gordon, Hornsby, Berowra, Blacktown, Penrith, Richmond and Emu Plains, T9 Northern line services to Epping, Gordon and Hornsby, the final 2 tracks are the UP and DOWN main lines which are used by BMT services to Central (i), Lithgow, Katoomba, Bathurst, Springwood and Mt Victoria, The Indian Pacific to Perth, CCN services to Gosford, Wyong and Newcastle Interchange, they're also used by the following NSW TrainLink regional trains, NT31 Central to Brisbane Roma St, NT32 Brisbane Roma St to Central, NT33 Central to Casino, NT34 Casino to Central, NT35 Central to Grafton, NT36 Grafton to Central, NP23 Central to Armidale, NP24 Armidale to Central, NP43 Central to Moree, NP44 Moree to Central, WT27 Central to Dubbo, WT28 Dubbo to Central, WP45 Central to Broken Hill and WP46 Broken Hill to Central W=Western Region N=Northen Region S=Southern region T=XPT P=Xplorer UP= Towards Central DOWN= Away from Central
Great stuff! 😍 For some reason I assumed you were more of a plane person than a train person (I know you make videos about both) but great to see this content. Appreciate all the details you include about the various types. 👌
WELL DONE . thank you , i thoroughly enjoyed this video. I have travelled this line many hundreds of times over the past 50 years or so , from the old Newcastle Station to Central , and more recently from the new Newcastle Interchange ( which is horrible , its like an over grown car port with NO shelter from the elements in Winter ) . It was obviously built on the cheap as Newcastle is the poor cousin of Sydney. Thank you again for a great video. Ray
There is mobile phone reception there. It's on the Northern bound side & you'll see it at the 13;00 minute mark & when you said single as you do for a bus
Excellent Rory yes the V sets are my favourite aswell, imagine how many millions of klm they have done over their life.. My father drove them for years. Cowan is the end of the suburban line, not Berowra, unless things have changed. I grew up in Berowra. The Blue Mountains line is a good one, see if you can get a ride up the front on a Vset going up the mountains its definitely different compared to been a passenger..
First time watching your review on my big screen today. You have very nice footage and review. It was like I was travelling on the train 👍. Loved the train spotting & plane spotting.
PHC001 "Carrot" and PHC002 "Spud" are the nicest looking locomotives on the Crawford's consist - mind you, they are UGL Limited C44ACi's (not GE C44ACi's), the same as the FIE-Class owned by Fletcher International Exports and operated by Southern Shorthaul Railroad
Great video.. Technically the new roof at Central isn't part of Central Walk - that's 2/3 of the way down the platforms. The roof provides a new concourse and elevators to platforms 8-14 when reinstated, highlights the heritage buildings with the new void, and provides access to the new Metro Concourse which will provide access to Central Walk
I catch V class these from Sydney Central to the Blue Mountains , using GPS they can hit 123 Km per hour, , don't like the Waratahs as much Good video mate Best Regards Andrew
LOL - I used to catch the train from Woy Woy to the city for years. Whenever I do this route these days I can still anticipate the next corner etc. As for Wondabyne a few mates and I once camped there after hiking over from Woy Woy. Way back then it had a set of sculptures that have now been moved on. This video brought back a lot of very old happy memories!
You went by my station - Mount Kuring-Gai which is just before Berowra. One issue with the D set is that the seats are fixed. You can't swivel them in the direction of travel like on the current trains.
I was thinking that too - being from Sydney I know how much everyone expects the swivel seats - having fixed seats was one of the reasons the Tangara’s were so hated.
You forgot that the T9 also uses the middle tracks from Central to Strathfield but overall, the video was great and very informative for those who don’t know much about travelling in Sydney!
@@RoryDing A little bit of trivia. Bradfield's original plan had only four tracks, (Main and Suburban, both faster with less curves) from the city running west. Another pair of tracks were to come in from the west under / near Parramatta Road and into the city. They were to then form the original Eastern Suburbs Railway, using the same platforms at Town Hall as the modern ESR but then looping around to the missing platforms in the middle of St James (and through the underground platforms at Central IIRC), then dividing into two tracks making a big loop around the Eastern Suburbs and back again. The current six tracks were a cheaper option squeezed into the available corridor.
Hi Rory. They are 'freight' trains not 'cargo' trains. Cargo is carried by ships and planes whereas freight is carried by trucks and trains. Great video
22:55 I'm going to factcheck you again. A 3rd time. The seats are non-reversible and hence for many people are less comfortable. It is hard to go past the V sets, and even the H sets do a very good job.
I'm a central coast commuter so pass this station often... it's easy to forget to look out the Window. It's such a pretty area.. any idea when the new trains come into service?
I worked on those buildings 6.01 into the video Rory if it wasn’t for a piece of parramatta rope and the safety fence surrounding the building 800 tonnes of concrete corefill mix and 500 x 300 x300 blocks could of came crashing down onto the tracks as there’s only a 2.5 meter buffer zone between buildings and tracks there and they went to high with the block work before core filling the fill didn’t go down all the way to the bottom of the block work it filled only the top section over balancing the wall and then an agitator backing in just touched the wall and the section holding the mix just tipped forward with blocks and concrete core-fill mix 8 meters in all it went every where and the rope and shade cloth stopped it from crashing down onto the track which could of caused a bad accident or fell on a passing train... there was no investigation as they covered it up
Actually most people would disagree, I think the V set ones are a lot better. Whenever I go down to Wollongong or Kiama on an Oscar, my back really hurts afterwards. I’ve even heard people at Central station seeing an Oscar for their train to Newcastle and I overheard them saying “oh let’s catch the next one since the purple seats are better”
When I was 14, we went bush walking with our school - we caught a V set train from Hornsby to Wondabyne - on our walk we found a partially decomposed foot in a shoe in the middle of the bush.
Gee.... I traveled to Newcastle at last few weeks and was so unlucky that I couldn’t have Oscar because not the weekend train🥺V set was comfy but their toilet door was so heavy and hard to open.🤣
Wondabyne? why Wondabyne. Not much there unless you want to checkout the oysters and the snakes on the nearby hill. It did not even exist until the last section of the northern line was constructed.
Central station looks so different these days. I can't believe how open it is today & can imagine how cold it is going to be in the winter months with the winter wind howling into it. I also am going to be really sad when they take those carriages off the railway line as I do not like the newer models at all. They are horrible to travel in.
I find it just slightly amusing that all of your Top 5 Videos are all train journeys yet most of your videos are on planes! Still amazing content though!

Hey Rory, will you be seeing the 3801 train at Albury, Junee/Cootamundra, Or Wagga Wagga NSW?
No I’ll be in SA in early April :(
@@RoryDing enjoy SA!
Can u film trains in SA like the overland pls
I’ll be travelling on the overland this Friday 🤫
Well done Rory. You’re so dedicated. 3 hours on Wondabyne station. Legend!
Yeah, it’s literally in the middle of nowhere
I’ve done this trip a number of times to Woy Woy for lunch, it makes a nice day out.
Adding the nature sounds and airplane in the editing was a really nice touch. It sort of cleansed the hearing. Like coffee beans at the fragrance counter.
Perfect sight for trainspotting on Wondabyne station! Thank you for showing us so many kinds of train😄
Gosh you have alot of patience to do trainspotting!! Ive never "hailed" a train before. Really cool station, great scenery. Thanks for sharing👍
Great video Rory! Turned out great!
Look forward to future train reviews and spotting!
Oh, and thanks for the mention. Legend
Very picturesque train journey from Hornsby onwards going north .Great photo shots and scenery winding around the river area's .
Your videos make me miss the old days... catching trains to uni, then everyday to work in the city from the west, and eventually only taking the train a couple times in the last year since working from home :(
some of my best camping in my life was a 30 walk from this station. Crazy storys come from this area
You're actually really good at trainspotting. The camera angles were perfect.
Better than STV?
Nahh 😂😂 he’s professional
Thank you ☺️
I gotta say, the Central Coast Line is amazingly scenic for a commuter line.
Completely agree! Especially between Hawkesbury river and Gosford
Great line, been there 2 times

Great stuff! 😍 For some reason I assumed you were more of a plane person than a train person (I know you make videos about both) but great to see this content. Appreciate all the details you include about the various types. 👌
I like both haha I travelled on a lot of bullet trains across the world before covid but sadly I didn’t make any videos back then 🙁
The V sets are my favourite too!

That was excellent Rory ! Very interesting !!! Thank you for sharing it with us ...:):):)
This is the opposite of what I was expecting, but I love it! I like how you showed the trains that go to Wondadyne.
Oh what were you expecting? 😂
@@RoryDing A flight review, but I love this.
There is mobile phone reception there. It's on the Northern bound side & you'll see it at the 13;00 minute mark & when you said single as you do for a bus
11:15 - Some people aren't home owners, rather boat owners. Yes, some people live in their boats. Though the mooring does act as a commuter carpark.
Excellent Rory yes the V sets are my favourite aswell, imagine how many millions of klm they have done over their life..

Berowra is now the terminus of the Sydney Trains network.

I first wondered how you would make a video of Wondabyne interesting, but you did! But left guessing if there is a toilet there.
No there isn’t one haha
shhh...... if ur busting, pee in the creek or a bush
DISCOSTANG
@The Model Train Guy if ur desperate only
@The Model Train Guy you’d have to go to Woy Woy and wait up to about an hour for a train that can stop at Wondabyne.
@The Model Train Guy yep that’s true
You should do a reciew of all the Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink Fleets.
Great video.. it has reinvigorated my interest in trains.. the new D set looks awesome :)

Didn’t know you were a railway enthusiast! Great video!
Haha I do!!
Very nice video. Lots of information about the trains and numbers pretty much enjoyed it. Can’t wait for more!
Nice station and the train ride.
the wondabyne station looks pretty charming
the memories ive travelled on this line when they had deisel and steam locos pulling carriages my favourite engine was 3801 ..
I agree, the 3801 is amazing!! I’m glad I got onto one before the lockdown!
Great video..

Yeah, but I don’t really mind facing backwards, hopefully the seats will be more comfortable than those on the H set
I was thinking that too - being from Sydney I know how much everyone expects the swivel seats - having fixed seats was one of the reasons the Tangara’s were so hated.
At least on the D Sets there are USB plugs and power points
V set is my favourite train too. 😊
Rory good video. We do not have cargo trains here. They are called freight trains similar to goods trains in the UK and manifest trains in USA.
Loved the video, AWESOME footage.. Well done sir 😁😁😁👍
Thank you ☺️
The v set is my favourite too!
You should do another Wondabyne video Rory
Thank you for sharing video 👍
At least you had company with the magpie and crow.
I love your Videos Rory!
Thank you 😊
11:40 No mobile reception? There is decent reception, at least with Telstra.
you should also do a day trip to Dungog
You forgot that the T9 also uses the middle tracks from Central to Strathfield but overall, the video was great and very informative for those who don’t know much about travelling in Sydney!
Yeah that’s right, my bad 😂 I moved out of Sydney in 2017, the lines have changed a little since then 😂

you legend you get 100000000000000000000000000/10
I actually been on a J, Endeavour, V and Oscar train. My big favourite is the OSCARS, because the seats are more comfortable than the v sets

Have you travelled VIA Rail in Canada and rail to North?

Cuz I started off with plane reviews, then I found trains to be more popular so I now do trains reviews too! 😊
Ashfield has 7 tracks
That’s a passing loop tho not the main line
why do you like the v sets
The seats are more comfortable than the H seat, I also like the colour scheme
It’s 2-2 configuration compare to 2-3 so V set feels more spacious
Did this as a daily commute for nearly four years. Don't have fond memories of this journey.
I used to catch it from Epping to Strathfield every morning (if that accounts) lots of memories, I really like the v set 😂😅
Granted, I am not much a big fan of the v sets
The people who “don’t Care” seem not that bad considering
更新很频密啊
I agree, v sets are a ⭐ and the front of the d sets are a pice of💩
I hate the “modern” look of the new additions to the station. Modern architecture is so ugly and cold
