    I could not even change a belt with 2 hands, and you did it 1 handed 👏👏

    For anyone watching, you could save yourself a lot of work disassembling by either using a long screwdriver or a speciality m270 belt tool which allows you to detention the belt from below. Great video showing how everything works and the routing of the belt tho!

      is it possible to route the belt from below though? or will you need to remove the top to get to the top pulley?

      @@tykusp7672 I replaced my serpentine belt and idler pulley last night and did it all from the bottom of the car ( CLA 45 ) not gonna lie it was a pain in the ass but I got it within an hour just takes a little patience.

    Thanks for the video! I learned something today. To remove the old belt, you can just cut it.

    Tech here just did one of these today I took off the oil cover and chassis brace, cut the belt , used a prybar to move the tensioner, used a 3mm Allen to lock the tensioner then install the belt it’s tight but can be done, actually today June 13 I modified that Allen welded a battery hold down bracket rod so it’s 10 inches longer makes life easier especially for these damn fwd euros bad design

    Knock the but out of the socket and put a wrench on it was the best way I found to avoid the bit stripping out of the tensioner, some commenters said they avoided removing the motor mounts, I would recommend doing it the way shown in the video to save time and headache.

      Sorry I did not! But it was just a chirping and loud squealing noise that I assumed was a bearing.

    I have the CLA45 and it makes a chirping noise when the engine is hot, also the engine seems to overheat a bit and causing the fan to kick in super loud sounds like a jet just to cool the engine down, could this be water pump? Any help would be appreciated

    • @streamlinebuilds1490
      @streamlinebuilds1490  3 года назад +1

      Sounds like the chirping would be from the belt. The water pump has a thermostat attached to it and night be easy to start by changing the thermostat first.

    Only a stupid Engineer would require that parts come off to change a belt! Buy American!

      Mercedes’ engineers don’t think about the guys that repair them.
      They think about how efficiently we can stuff an engine made with inferior parts into a very small hole as quickly as possible on the assembly line…screw the guys that work on it and the customers that buy these pile of crap European taxi’s.
      I’ve been working in Mercedes’ junk for 30 years and I can attest that they are piles of crap compared to a ford ranger or econoline.
      Mercedes are over rated piles of crap.
      Yes the AMG models are fast hell and handle fairly well but there’s so much crap stuffed in them they spend more time in the shop than on the road ….if they get driven.
