- Common sense and Science: a risky combination.Common sense is considered to be the basic qualification of a person. But for many of the laws of nature, it acts like a heavy baggage, making the learning process difficult. The talk tries to explain why common sense is not a reliable tool in the search for truth. I raised the question that newton's first law was against my experience in my high school . Fortunately I got a good response from my teacher(answered it with a force called friction) . But the realization that science need not be intuitional occurred to me during my engineering. From there on I started appreciating mathematics and now I Iam trying to master maths, the language in which nature speaks.

Basic state of Universe
Our process of selecting and appointing our teachers is not in the best interests of the bright future of our state and country. Majority of the people who choose teaching as a profession is the ones who pass their exams with mere pass marks. I know many who had failed their SSLC exams multiple times but when they eventually passed they applied for teacher training courses such as TTC, B.Ed., M.Ed. etc and became teachers. These days when one of the PhD holders dissertation was scrutinised, the author of poem VAAZHAKKULA was found penned by VAILOPPALLY. She must have misjudged her answer by confusing with MAMPAZHAM by VAILOPPILLY. However, is it that simple? Can a PhD doctorate holder make such an wanton error and can it be taken so lightly?
It is the way we are. Quality doesn't carry that much of weight in our system. It is the number of years a teacher completes elevates him/her Asst. Professorship, Professorship and Department Head!
