  • I fought with the big blue monster and lost…
Sometimes life can get a little overwhelming and while my furniture is such a great escape and therapeutic, there are times when too many challenges can add up and be too much. Thats when I have to pivot and change plans… and that’s ok too.
Losing my father recently took a little of the wind out of my sails and I was able to recognize that I needed more rest and not more of a challenge.

I’m so sorry to hear about your father. And it’s perfectly okay to step away from some things in order to hang onto your sanity.

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your father. That really hits hard and it was probably the best thing to just get rid of the blue monster. You will be in my prayers! 🙏🏼

One of the best things we can do for ourselves is to know when it’s time to back away. I’m very sorry to hear about your dad. Please take care.

I give you a lot of credit for attempting to refinish a piece I would have never touched. Sometimes when it is so much work, it takes the fun out of a project and makes it a chore. I am very sorry about your Father 😢

Sending condolences to you for having had your Dad pass on ~ it is always a challenge and can be devastating. Happy you were able to let go of this previously poorly treated dresser. I’d love to see it, when she finishes! Thank you for sharing. I learn so much from people who are willing to honestly share. Your work shows how diligent and kind you are. I always appreciate seeing what you are doing. You are so good to open your heart and mind to countless knowledge seekers. So grateful to have come across you.

You took on a piece I never would have touched. Too much had been done to this dresser and nothing good. Good luck to the person who will continue to try to bring it back to life. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your father. I've been dealing with the loss of an aunt and two friends that I've known since the 90's. You did a great job at stripping the blue sparkly paint that was on this piece. I've never seen plastic on furniture before. So this was informative. Sometimes you just have to know that you've done all that you could and move on. I appreciate your filming the process.

So sorry to hear about recent loss of your father. 😢
You tackled this dresser like a warrior, and despite being able to continue, the video was still educational. I'm just starting this venture managing small pieces, and just realized I never want to try any color monster. And now, I know how to attempt repairing a stuck drawer when all else fails because of your video! Thank you 😊

Sorry about your dad. I'm glad you got out from under that piece if it was dragging you down. Hang in there.

I'm sorry about the loss of your Father.. you know, just go with the flow.. let the dresser go. My father recently died, and then my mother died 4 weeks after him .. I am letting things go, because I can't focus on one project for long. You made the right decision. You take care.🕊🙏

This is a good example of a piece of furniture that needs to be just painted well. people go a bit overboard imo pretending every cheap piece looks better with a natural grain finish

Yes. Had it been painted well when the blue paint went on, I would have just repainted it. But it was not painted well…

Why do I keep hearing Johnny Cash singing "I fought the blue... and the blue won!"
And WHAT would possess someone to paint an innocent piece of helpless furniture that color?
On a more somber note, I'm so sorry about your father's death but I envy you your grief. My father was career federal law enforcement and forced to retire at age 60. For the next 29 years he took out his anger and frustration on my mother and me, going so far as threatening to shoot us and tell the police he "thought we were burglars". He called every law enforcement agency in the area to report we were "abusing" him and kept driving after losing his license until the chief of police in our town actually put him in jail for 15 minutes (with his doctor's permission) so he'd stop wasting their time! His death was a relief to the entire family; I won't say we celebrated, but it was as if a monstrous burden had been lifted.
Hold your happy memories close. A caring, loving parent is the most precious thing a child of any age can have.
