I hope you all enjoy my reaction to Doctor Who and let me know what you thought of this new special! Edit: FAQ… “OLD?!” 😂 I keep seeing these comments so let me be clear when I say that I’m using the phrase “Old Dr Who Fan” in the sense that I use to watch this show but haven’t in quite some time, but also that when I was a regular viewer I watched years worth of Nu-Who (but I have seen some episodes of both Tom Baker and Peter Davison’s eras if that makes you happy). Hopefully that clears up some confusion but probably won’t lmao either way thank you all for watching the video!
Theory: since the lines about wilf and how they keep building his appearance up was written before his death, the celestial toy maker in a “lost episode” with the first Doctor with David Bradley is going to get insight on the fact Donna will be a future companion somehow. He will sell a toy to a young wilf having just had Sylvia and that’s what’s drawing Donna to the doctor. It is all a trap by the toy maker to get vengeance.
Do we know if he was able to film anything before his passing? Because I really hope we see him again one last time for these specials 🤞🏻 I did see another comment suggesting we may instead see a “younger Wilf” and it may relate to the overall story of these specials and why David’s face is back perhaps 👀 Either way I’m so excited for more Whoniverse stories again! :)
Did you know Catherine Tate plays opposite David Tennant in Ducktales 2017 for a few special episodes? It's voiceover, but it's still fun, and Tate does fantastic as a hammy villain.
Thats so cool I didn’t know that! I’ve been meaning to watch the new Ducktales as I knew David is in it, maybe that’s a series I can bring to the channel in the new year at some point :) would especially love to see what character Catherine plays in it too!
Jodie's era of Who is a bit hit and miss but there are some really good episodes. Particularly S12x4. One of my all time favorite episodes. Jodies regen special is also amazing.
I think once these 2023 specials are done I’ll go back to the beginning for fun and also to reeducate myself on plot lines and finally check out Jodie’s era, some friends have told me before that there is some good and some bad episodes so it’ll be interesting to see what my own thoughts are eventually.
I particularly love Rosa, Demons of the Punjab, It takes you away, Resolution, Spyfall, and Village of the Angels. Plenty of other good episodes but those are my personal Faves from the Chibnal era
I'm cis female, but I was unhappy with the inability to let go being a "male presenting problem." I think it alienated ftm and male allies. There really is no need to punch down men to uplift women. I also think this applies to any group of people. Why dismiss one group in order to push another forward? People love to do this when promoting film, series, music, bands, religions, politics, etc... Inclusivity does not negate the mainstream, assholes!!! It enriches experiences and broadens perspectives. Wow! What a harm to humankind... (note the sarcasm.) Anyway, stepping down from soapbox and wishing everyone a safe end of the year. Bring on Ncuti as 15!
I think this is the best comment I’ve seen with genuine criticism about the new special while also speaking volumes of the good that this show (as an example) can teach people about other ways of life that may be different to their own. The line you are referring to only got a laugh out of me in the reaction because of Catherine’s comedic delivery but I also felt it was unneeded as both Rose and Donna were already shining in that moment thanks to the story that was told (then they were literally shining) but it didn’t need to put down David’s character at the end there. I also love that this episode is going to forever mean so much more to a viewer out there hoping to be seen and heard who isn’t me (even though I did clearly love it myself). Doctor Who is for everyone and all walks of life! Thank you so much for posting this Anna, truer words have never been spoken before! :)
@@paulflint6254In the context of gender, it means the gender a person identifies as currently is the same one they were identified as when they were born. Trans and cis are Latin prefixes, trans meaning “across” or “on the other side of” and cis meaning “on the same side of”.
Very well said, and the moment stands out after the episode was so, so progressive before that and even said that the Doctor is more than whatever gender they have at the time (“male and female and nothing and more”). Equality is the elimination of gender stereotyping, not the redistribution of it. The fact a ton of reactors and commentators caught how old fashioned this is is a testament to how far our society and culture has come in the past decade or so. So that’s good.

I love when he said save budget when they put down the visor when these specials and new Series is most expensive and have most budget dr who will ever have 😂😂
I think it would have been better if they attributed the idea of letting it go to the 10th doctor when he vented the regeneration energy into the hand... cause it's basically the same theory they just aren't using a receptacle to put the energy in.

But I have watched some of Tom Baker’s episodes when growing up and the same for Peter Davison too if that helps lol
I'm trans fem and I can say that the "male presenting line" was a bit much. Like, they just went on about how the Doctor isn't really defined by gender by saying "the Doctor is male, female, neither and more," so why is the other line needed? Also, it goes against trans-men too, who are already really under represented and overlooked compared to trans-women.
I'd argue that Jodie Whittaker era was the least progressive out of Doctor Who eras since 2005. It tried really really hard to not offend anyone and ended up not making any statements at all, unless you count "racism bad" as a radical statement.
I was mainly referring to them having the Doctor become a woman but that’s interesting to know, like I have some friends who have watched her seasons and it seems like a mixture of thoughts between so like half of them enjoyed her episodes and others just simply didn’t.
