I also have a 997.1 turbo cab manual. got it a year ago with 35k miles on it. Mine came with the fabspeed exhaust. No drone, tasteful sound. Looking at installing the PCCM plus, let us know how you like it!
Have a '08 turbo cab, cobalt blue, blue top on sand leather. Custom ordered back in the day and now have 105K miles on it. Never left me stranded (unlike my current British exotic or former Italian ones). A little costly to upkeep via dealer as it got old, but still a great drive despite (or in my case, because of) it being a tip. In some ways more rewarding to drive than our 991.2 TS; more analogue and can apply wide open throttle for more than 3 seconds at a time. Steering is definitely a strong point on this car.
This car is STUNNING! I just love it everytime I see it. I can’t believe the cayenne is 20 years old. That’s flown. Perfect car to just drive round and enjoy and that brown interior is so nice. Have the best day tomorrow and so hope to see you at a event soon
Correct, 997.1tt are the last turbo to receive a Mezgar engine. The 997.1tt Also shares its engine with the lemans winning GT1 albeit with some refinements. I own a 997.1TT and use europipe exhaust.
Or the exhaust, get the Europipe. They specialise in exhaust specifically for 911 turbo’s. In terms of quality and performance it is equivalent to Akrapovic (Akra has discontinued their exhausts for the 997 turbo models). In terms of sound it retains the Porsche flat 6 sound, emphasises on the turbo noises and spools and deepens the sound significantly rather than it being just “loud”
Fantastic video Tom. I have exactly the same car only it’s a 2009 with a slightly different interior and I love it. I agree it looks better with the wheel spacers in exactly the sizes you mentioned. Easy mod. I get tons of compliments on the color which I would have thought I wouldn’t given it’s brown. The one thing you didn’t address is the DME check on over revs on the manual boxes, although it’s probably not as big a deal as some make it out to be. I didn’t know about this issue and mine came with many over revs in all ranges suggesting multiple “money shifts” on track days. This said, I never had any issues with mine and I’ve had it for 8 years. Cheers and keep up the good work!
Highly recommend a Kline Exhaust Tom - chat to the boys at Autofarm, my 996 Turbo (Mezger) is there currently and the Kline upgrade they did was superb. Transforms the sound quality.
That would be a keeper if I was you. The specification is very classy and I don't think another one quite like it will be found. The 997 Turbos are fabulous all-round cars and it doesn't feel like 15 years or so have gone by!
That is one fine looking machine, rich brown metallic looks great with a beige interior and thank goodness for the brown soft top to match. Wishing you many miles of happy motoring. Thank you.
Thanks Tom for the quick grid walk of our display cars on display at Bicester Heritage tomorrow. If you get a chance on Sunday, come say Hi and have a quick chat. The owner of the green Autofarm RS is looking to sell so thanks for not driving off in it. 😄
Great choice mate! To my eyes it is a really cool car. It is a Porsche meaning that it won’t stop working for you as long as you take care of it. You already mentioned in your video what are planning to do in order to keep it on the road so it won’t let you down. As always keep it up! I really enjoy watching your videos.
Try a Dansk Super Sport (essentially empty silencers - if they do them for the Turbo I had them in a Carrera) + sport cats. The OE cats in 911s are huge and 600 cell AFAIK.
Random one Tom, did you buy this from someone in St John's Wood? Used to walk past this spec sometimes round there and couldn't believe how good it looked. Great colour combo!
Beautiful car love the colour👌🏻Hayward & Scott in Basildon do a exhaust bypass doesn’t sound over the top n no drone sounds like a factory sport’s exhaust definitely worth the money
You should do an OEM+ Corvette C6 Z06. Last front-engine RWD hardtop manual NA Corvette. Prettiest modern Corvette shape by far. The LS7 motor needs some dialing in, but it is absolutely elite. A well considered C6 Z would be a massive hit in the UK. Probably can count the total examples on your fingers on the entire continent.
oohhh i like dirty cars it shows that we enjoy them and yes i think this is the last Metzger as it is a 3.6l and next gen was 3.8l but i can be wrong....
@@Metal05 do your own research and get a well maintained vehicle, but the IMS bearing issue does not affect the mezgar engine turbo cars. My gen 1.5 09 car had been 👍
LOVE the brown Porsche Turbo as its a colour that people dont usually get on their vehicle's. IE it's not BLACK/GREY/SILVER. I have never had a BLACK/GREY/SILVER car ever, over the years I've had 12 car's and my current car I'v had since 2005 and its green.
Saw one a few days ago in Dubai. Not an unpopular colour there actually. Not to my taste though! Not that it matters. But. I’d absolutely swap a 996 4S for a 997 Turbo every day of the week… But these modern brown shades don’t do a thing for me.
Not going to do much to it just paint it sort out suspension get new exhaust change entertainment system sort out brakes and brake lines etc 😂 great video 👍
I've been watching the 996 turbo market and available good cars for about 6 months... nearly pulled the trigger a couple of times but, I think you just got me watching the 997's too :) ...I love the brown btw.
no hate, but ive never thought the cab version of the 911 ever looked quite right, just ruins the profile. just my personal opinion. some amazing machines inside that shed though - holy shit !
I used to own the same model new (short shift gearbox - Porsche option) and had Porsche fit a Tubi exhaust on delivery. I also had remapped it to 600bhp which was fun. Sounded good (not a good as my 996 4s with a porches sports exhaust though). Always liked the maccadema brown looks great in the flesh never on photos. Have you found the 10 secs over boost yet?? Sold mine in 2010 with 20k for £65k so seems values have held strong for 12 years (lost £45k in 2 years though - ouch!!). Tbh I actually preferred my previous 996 turbo.

FIRST DRIVE TIME!! In my brown 997 Turbo. Join the Xmas Porsche Club GB event www.porscheclubgb.com/events/2022/december/porsche-club-cars-christmas
The lady who spec’d this is classy.
i agree
i knew it would be a lady. a 911 cab is the sort of car who is bought by wealthy people but not exactly Porsche purists.
I love the older car content Tom. You have become a huge ambassador for the Porsche keep going lad

Loving the 997 Turbo - great choice! Had a 997.1 Carrera S cab in Atlas Gray with the same upholstery - think it’s called Sand.

Nicely done Tom , great car . Sunglasses and watch on point too.
The name for the interior is "Full Nappy". Lovely car though.

Fabspeed exhaust and headers sound the nuts
I have Cargraphic turboback on my 996 turbo which I like
Can also do a gundo hack like on the E93
I’m taking it you didn’t take the CGT to the event today? Pretty sure you would of been slipping and sliding with the snow ?
Stunning colour interior combination
Have a word with Sam ,classic giveaways, he's sees my 997 4s manual regularly, I agree with you cracking cars

Does the PCCM plus affect the sports chrono function, also did you get a reversing camera fitted? Cheers

JCR do a Titanium X pipe for the Gen 1 Turbo, seems to be reasonably priced.
hear me out on this. Facelifted porsche panamera turbo s-e hybrid gran turismo as a daily. chaossss
