    Hi, which knuckles would you use in that wrist position ?

    • @primalpunch
      @primalpunch  5 лет назад +18

      I always aim to strike with the two center knuckles, as they are more protected than the outside knuckles. Great question, thank you for watching!

    • @ZeKiran3
      @ZeKiran3 5 лет назад +4

      @@primalpunch by center knuckles you mean ring and middle knuckles ?

    • @primalpunch
      @primalpunch  5 лет назад +7

      @@ZeKiran3 Yes!Those knuckles are sheathed by the outer striking knuckles, which gives them a lot more impact resistance than if you strike with the forefinger and middle finger striking knuckles.

    Re: punching... About 20 years of martial arts, including 3 years of CQB taught by police officers and military combat instructors.
    As you point out, you can easily break your hand if you don't know how to punch properly. Even trained fighters have broken their hands. The skull (i.e. the brain box) has some of the hardest bones (plates) in the body. Catch it wrong and it's busted knuckles for you.
    Especially, if the guy you're facing has formal training. If you casually saunter up close to get in range, he'll know what you're up to and will position accordingly, usually in a subtle way. He'll may even strike YOU first once you enter close quarters range where first man wins. Every bouncer everywhere knows this.
    FWIW, you can do everything you suggest here, but slap hard with the meaty part of your palm... about where the heel meets the wrist. Has the same effect but reduces risk of damage to you. Save punches for ribs, sternum, bladder, etc... soft body parts.
    The rule is: never hard to hard. Hit soft to hard, and hard to soft.
    FWIW...
    PS. Liked your isometric vid. That's how I got here...

      Heel of the palm strikes are the best for avoiding broken hands, I absolutely agree. Thank you very much for watching.

    Action is faster than reaction. And it's always the punch you don't see coming that drops you.

      Thank you very much for watching! A smaller fist is a smaller point of impact, which ups the psi big time, so a smaller fist is a good thing! Punch hard!

      Okay..but my friend trains karate and also has small hands but them small knuckles hurt like hell with those "cupping,whipping, lightning fast" techniques on my face...did not expect that from such a small guy/ hands...😅 I think it also has to do with his techniques....
