The dynamic between Stannis and Davos is brilliant; so much disagreement on how to best proceed, but ultimate loyalty and trust in one another. Davos represents one of the few truly honorable people in this universe.

Most people didn't understand how monumental this scene was ... for Stannis to name a former commoner as admiral and later as Hand of the King.... that's unheard of.
We only missed the "peach" quote, but I think this also shows his connection to Renly and hidden regret. His brother was a traitor and faced the penalty for betraying his rightful king, and yet Stannis still wishes it could have been different. This shows he isn't as stoic and emotionless as he pretends to be, there is a conscience behind the cold exterior and single minded focus on justice and duty. This also makes him a kinslayer, which according to how things work in Westeros, places him under a "curse".

Pituszly HereShouldBeSername If this was season 8, Stannis, Renly, the Tyrells and Melisandre wouldn't exist because "they're not important". Can't have many characters with nuanced relationships when there's only 60 minutes per episode to make quips and eunuch jokes.
Varys didn't mean it as a compliment. Stannis is pure justice, which sounds great until you see what pure justice looks like. “If we all got what we deserved we'd all be dead." Justice is worthless if it's not tempered by mercy. Stannis was too bitter a man to be a good king. His default opinion of anyone was to hate them, and then for the occasional person he might decide to change his mind. Ned placed too great an emphasis on honor. Cat placed too great an emphasis on family. Tywin and Cersei both placed too great an emphasis on control. Jaime placed too great an emphasis on love. Tyrion placed too much emphasis on pride. Robert and Renly both placed too great an emphasis on pleasure. Stannis placed too great an emphasis on duty. Daenerys placed too great an emphasis on her dreams. ASoIaF is full of characters who are ALMOST great, but are missing something or other. Daenerys being the most notable example. Stannis is CLOSE to being a great king, but he focuses too much on his rules to the detriment of his humanity. He's so focused on his duty to serve the Seven Kingdoms as king, and his perceived duty to fulfil the prophecy of Azor Ahai, that he sacrifices too much to it.
@@BravoDoxStannis sacrifices his justice for the good of the realm. He didn't burn Mance because Mance can help him fight the others. He murdered Renly (even if unknowingly) and sacrificed his honour to try to claim the throne. The whole reason he wants the iron throne is to protect the realm against the others and save people, he sees it as his duty. Nothing is above his duty to him.
@@BravoDox Interesting take! All of them are flawed, who would be the best person to sit the throne? Even with his flaws, (book) Stannis would still be the best king for Westeros in my humble opinion..
@@NoBrainer457I mean, everyone is flawed. GRRM is obviously writing Jon to have the best of all he's interacted with: Ned, Joer, Stannis, etc. Aside from future Jon, I'd argue Kevan Lannister. He's dutiful, reasonable, and fairly wise. Not as cruel as Tywin. Without his duty as second son to obey Tywin and given more autonomy, he seems like he'd be just and honorable. Davos as a close second. Honorable and humble but lacks the political training to rule.
Season 6 was the low point for me, with Battle of the Bastards of course being disproportionately great. 7 was a pretty mixed bag. I actually think this season is better than the previous two.
@@WMUser3 really? I thought episodes 9 and 10 of series 6 were almost as good as some of the best episodes in 1-4, except I think Jaime would've left cersei after she blew up the Sept. I wish they had some more backlash for her after that in series 7, and I wish they hadn't simplified the whole religious storyline but ultimately I thought those two were well made. Arya's plot line was generally good, until she survived being stabbed a bunch somehow, and bran's storyline was fantastic, especially the door and return of Benjen. Other than that, Euron and the sand snakes sucked. What did you dislike so much to make it worse than series 5?
ภูวเมศฐ์ อนุชาชาติ not a douchebag. Mace Tyrell is a fool but he is still wise enough to let competent advisors do the job (so of course his mother really rules). And she is clever enough to know that the real winners come right at the decisive moment of the war, not blindly charging as soon as possible. Allied with Renly, that would have made Margaery queen. With Renly dead, the move they did was marrying Margaery to the Lannisters, turning the tide of the war in their favor (80 000 or 100 000 extra soldiers is a significant advantage)
Alamo Patriot It is literally a normal, ordinary sentence with no wit or higher point behind it, just a bit of anger. Your standarts must be really, REALLY low. What's next? "I´ve just had breakfast," said Stannis. "Brilliant!" yelled the really odd group of fans.
***** and double traitors at that, they threw in with the Targaryens, why the hell Robert didn't kill their house off is beyond me, and it wasn't like the Martells where they were kinda forced to fight alongside the Targaryens (they were insulted by Rhaegar for choosing Lyanna over Elia at the tourney at Harrenhal, and received threats from the Targaryens forcing them to join in)
Kiano Uy Not true. Robb listened to Roose to send Ramsey to retake Winterfell. And looked how that turned out. Roose Bolton was already corrupt the first time you meet him.
Kevin Manrique Roose actually would have stayed loyal to Robb as he did to Ned if Robb was a better listener/strategist. Robb did win every battle, but he did a lot of stupid things like marrying that girl and not pursuing his attacks on Lannisters. The only time he listened to Roose was when it was too late.
brwnipoints That could be of been a possibility. Though I think Roose was "loyal" to Ned Stark because there was no real opportunity to overthrow him. Like Littlefinger says chaos is a ladder and a lot of people in Game of Thrones used it to their advantage.
The acting is the only redeeming factor of Seasons 7 & 8. The dialogue, plot and characterisation is still shit, but the best thing about 8 is that it finally gives Emilia Clarke opportunities to do some good acting and fucking emote.
Ignoramus the Zetetic acting, Ramin Djawaji’s music, directing, visual effects have all been the best I’ve ever seen. It’s been sad to see all the mistakes the writers have made, I’m just trying to enjoy it for what it is. Sure it annoys me, but there’s no turning back now. Still the most Entertaining show on TV
That line. That one line describes the downfall of King Robb and Daenerys, Robb by beheading lord Karstark and causing a large part of his army to abandon him, and Daenerys with her abuse of the masters in the cities she liberated causing them to create the Sons of the Harpy, and later in Westeros her habit of burning anyone not loyal to her which foreshadows her descent into madness and burning kings landing. That line sets the stage for seasons of conflict and the main dillema behind the ending and it's fantastic.
Gorgeous scene. Love Stannis' initial anger. He's furious that he had to kill his brother; he hates that he was forced to it and hates how he had to do it. And he hates his new Lords because they are all traitors who should have immediately rallied to him. He loves justices and would love to hang them, but, damn it, he needs them to win the crown; the thing that he also hates because he's forced to fight for it, when it should be given to him, but also because he doesn't really want it, but it's his duty to take it. So much rage, such a tragic tale. Then Davos unlocks the anger with the truth - undeterred by Stannis trying to tell him to f off, he persists because he loves him and Stannis loves him back. His rage melts into a cool change in policy, then collapses into sadness at the difficulty and ugliness of it all. Such a nuanced, brilliant performance. This guy is one of the best actors around.
Alexander Millar has just stRted rereading davos chapters. Those lords did the right thing. Renley was their lord. They couldn’t side with stannis. This show is to great
@@thegreekdeal4747 Yeah. People are surprised the show went to complete shit in the end, but seeing what they were doing to Stannis was already a massive red flag.
Yeah, and they also removed several plotlines from the 4th and 5th books, and stretched them into one season, except for a few storylines who got pushed in season 6 (ironborn, Sam to the Citadel, and siege of Riverrun). The ironborn were always butchered in the show, but destroying Euron was criminal. I also hate it how they made the Freys incompetent, since they are supposed to be a real threat, and the most powerful house in the Riverlands. The Freys in season 6 make impossible to believe they could succeed with the Red Wedding. In the books we know Walder and Lothar to be smart and dangerous as fuck, and Black Walder to be an actual threat. Overall, the storylines who got destroyed the most were Dorne, Iron Islands, Stannis, and the whole northern conspiracy revolving around Stannis's campaign and House Stark. In the show the Red Wedding had NO repercussions whatsoever. What makes the books feel more real is how the "bad" corrupted families win, but they destroy themselves because of their own flaws after they won. No punishment from heroes; just them turning against each other, or their own actions causing political damage and serious consequences. It's also a tragedy, because Freys and Lannisters have decent members too, and they get caught up in the fights because of their family name.
Got a small question. In the end of 'A dance of dragons', Ramsay sends Jon a letter saying that he killed Stannis and his army. But in the epilogue, Theon is captured by Stannis. Because if the time consistency with AFFC and ADOD it could be that this happened before. So is Stannis still alive or not?
@@davethewave2197 Ramsay asked Jon to "return his bride arya and reek". If he had killed Stannis, at least one of Theon and Poole would be captured. Plus it doesn't make sense for the tactical idiot books Ramsay to beat Stannis in battle.
Vortex, Martin already said in his own words that Stannis is "alive beyond a doubt", so anything about his status is no speculation. Martin said he's alive because he never viewed Stannis's status as a spoiler....the pink letter was meant to be a blatant lie. Ramsay was pathetically begging for hostages against Stannis; he demanded Jon to hand over Selyse, Shireen, and Melisandre.
totally out of character how he kills his daughter, and its disgusting to see ramsey beat a far superior tactician. A huge gripe about this show is that tactics and stratedgy is thrown out the window in all the big battles after like season 3/4
In fairness, what the show did to him looks like what the books might eventually do to him. We get that preview chapter for Winds of Winter, and that is essentially the scene before he burns Shereen. I'd imagine that something that comes that soon after what GRR has written, was probably guided by him, so I think we can imagine that we'll get something fairly similar if the next book is ever released.
@@sammason1092 Nothing of the sort is happening to Stannis in the preview chapters. I am not mocking you, but I have to ask you: are you illiterate? Show: Stannis loses most of his army to desertion, burns his daughter and then attacks Winterfell with his weak and starved army with no plan, only to be defeated easily. Book: Stannis keeps gaining soldiers from northenerns who join him. After absorbing the mountain clans and remaining Glover forces after freeing Deepwood Motte from ironborn hands he marches to Winterfell. He is even sought after by the Iron Bank who promise more money to him so he can hire more mercenaries. His daughter, wife and witch are all at the Wall, safely hidden. He stops at a fishing village where he prepares to take on the combined assault of the Frey, Umber and Manderly forces at once, having already dealt with false Karstark allies who intended to betray him. There is no parallel, except that book and show Stannis have completely *opposite* situations. Even if he dies in the book, he will certainly not lose to Ramsey Snow, a brash, impatient and incompetent general and neither is Brienne anywhere close to him, able to execute her "revenge" over the death of a pompous usurper and pretender, because she has forgotten that desire in the book. Stannis is implied to be some sort of false messiah/false hope as the symbolism of the burning sword with no heat implies, so he might die eventually.
how did he care? he walked into a war he obviously couldnt win, was outnumbered a hundred to one because he refused to make basic concessions for alliances, and got himself and his whole house slaughtered.
Plenty of people liked Stannis, thats why in the books he's capable of gathering most of the north to his side, the wildlings, and the mountain men too. The people that disliked Stannis were the people that knew Stannis was to smart to let them rise any further in power, If Stannis was king Vary's and Littlefinger both would loose all the power they had. In the books Stannis would absolutely never had anyone burned for not agreeing to change their religion, that was D&D fan fiction in S4 E1, nothing more. Atheism isn't really a thing in Game of thrones, but Stannis was the closest to an Atheistic character in that universe.
+Paulie Walnuts this exactly. he was sad that he had to kill him because he was his brother. but knew if he did not kill him then renly would kill stannis so it had to be done, he just wishes renly was not an usurper idiot and made him do it
In the books Stannis is horrified over Renly. Not for his sake but because he was so just that he found the idea of assassinating his brother revolting. D&D really hated Stannis for some reason. I guess fools do love a fool.
D&D didn’t hate Stannis, insomuch as theism in general The High Sparrow has yet to go quite as far as his HBO counterpart, Melisandre was more open to compromises (especially with Mance Rayder), and while Davos’s HBO counterpart was an atheist, the book Davos is still reverent to the Seven
@@benjaminosterloh3605 Stannis is a giant atheist in the books. He has a whole speech about how he doesn't believe in any gods or worship any. He keeps Melisandre around because she has magic and is powerful and because his wife's family, The Florents are followers of her religion. He frequently downplays the religion and is at odds with them. "There will be no burnings, pray harder."
He puts entitlement over charisma. Expectations over pragmatism. Renly was absolutely right about Stannis: Nobody likes him. Nobody supported him. Throughout his life, he had managed to alienate himself from all of his own supporters, in one way, or another. That's why people don't like him. Great character tho tbf
wayne king is right. I never really considered that. Stannis was one of the most interesting characters on the entire show. I can not make up my mind if he was honorable & just or selfish & cruel. He was unyielding that much is certain. I loved the way he met his end by instructing Brienne to do her duty. He understood her cause & that for her it was just & courageous. He seemed in my mind at least glad to be killed by the fulfillment of someone's duty, maybe even the fulfillment of duty to the Baratheon name. He would not have ever just accepted this prior to that series of events that led to that day, but after all of that, he certainly saw the writing on the wall & did not need any help understanding the meaning of it all at the end. Like I said in my mind he was almost glad to be means to the end of Brienne's commitment to his brother. He was a soldier & understood and or recognized a fellow follower of one's duty. He was summed up I think in this & in his doomed battle of blackwater bay, when someone informed him of the loss of life from the wildfyre & the admission that yes many more would die in trying to take the city but onward you must go for it is your duty. Like I said, is he a good guy or a bad guy? I think we would all agree more bad than good after he allowed his precious daughter to be burned. But, what if that action led to his victory & to the iron throne where he was in a position to save everyone during the long night? That is what he thought he was doing. I would love to read an alternate universe book where we see him on the iron throne & leading the 7 kingdoms during the long night, also a version where tywin Lannister was in that crucial role. I think at least maybe you could say that Stannis was not as selfish as Tywin. Tywin wanted to see his house exalted & also allow the 7 kingdoms to flourish beneath him. Stannis I don't think cared so much to see his family become a great dynasty he just wanted what was his by right & he would fulfill his duty to the 7 kingdoms. He actually did not seem to even like his family very much. These strong complex characters are fascinating to say the least.
I think the Lannisters would claim that he was a traitor who forfeited his rights by his initial rebellion. Plus, Cersei would never accept a challenge to her power just because of rights. She tore up King Robert's words, saying that Ned Stark would be Protector of the Realm for many years. Ned had the right to rule; it was the King's wishes and Joffrey wasn't even coronated. But it was ignored because she bought the right people and terrified the others.
if Stannis didnt need all those lords who supported renly, for his current army, he sure as shit would have burned or hung them for treason, so they should consider themselves lucky, knowing renly was the younger brother with a false claim, I like the book scene better, where he states out many of the men fighting for joffrey least believe he is the legit king and believed he really was king bobs son, but the renly banner men declared for renly knowing he was the younger brother of stannis which is against every basic law in the lands
I wish Renly had tossed him a peach during the parley, and then at the end of this scene, the camera pans down from Stannis' weary gaze to the see the peach on the table, rotting.
+Juliana Augusto Lets make him film a scene that requires to burn a child despite that he lost his siter on a fire.Lets kill his character and his entire family to make sure he wont have a future not even as reference and give his arc to Snow (the funny thing is that both dump $ dumper and Stephen Dillane have no idea how many fans Stannis have, even with this awfully bad writing...).
It used to be so sophisticated and felt like it was actually telling a genuine medieval fantasy story and you’re going to witness the hard brutal politics and battles instead of just pandering to fanboys and girls with LE EPIC DRAGONS!!!!!!!1!!!1!1!
2:35 is probably the closest we get to "the peach" in the books. You can see Stannis' lip quiver a bit and his whole demeanor change. I think in this small moment he does regret killing his brother, even if the remainder of the scene only lasts for a few seconds more.
Dumb ans dumber s great dilemma was they hated Stannis and by seasons Stannis got bigger and bigger and perhaps bigger than the show. So they decided to make him evil, they made Stannis burn his daughter so everybody would hate him and his death would be justified. But guess what, STANNIS BARATHEON will live forever in his fan s hearts. LONG HE MAY REIGN
+Murat Sahintas even worse they changed how the books will be, with stannis alive and beating the boltons, just so they can keep another hated person/family (boltons) around as something the fans can still root against, they never liked stannis or did him any justice.......show stannis he burns a florent for keeping his faith of the 7 idols up.......book stannis....."I WILL HAVE NO BURNINGS, PRAY HARDER, HALF OF MY ARMY IS MADE UP OF NON BELIEVERS, PRAY HARDER"
"What do you believe?" I love that question because Stannis clearly doesn't give a shit what other people thinks of him. But the opinion of Davos was important to him
+brwnipoints Well apparently doesn't haunt him anymore :L The writers of the show are really destroying cool parts of the book I have heard from friends. Ser Barristan
+SlickStitch he does not regret what he did. he had to kill renly before renly killed him. that said he still did love him and hated it had to be that way
i don't know if we're supposed to like him or hate him but for some reason I'm rooting for Stannis at the moment.. hahaha. He's akward but he's still badass in his own way.
Hes a lot nicer in the books, even having a monologue about avenging Robert, Jon, Ned and Renly, where he then talks about how he will never stop thinking about his brother.
JateGuitar I think he means more honorable because he does come across as so in the books. It's also never said if he truly was responsible for Renly's death or if that was Melisandre just taking care of the trash behind Stannis's back. "I was in my tent when he died, and when I woke my hands were clean".
Drew F So true. The writers dislike Stannis (which I don't see how you can) and that reflects in the tv show. Though I would say Stannis really shines where the show is now. So if they fuck his parts here. I would be pissed. They made it seem like he was sulking forever at Dragon Stone for 2 seasons after the battle of Blackwater Bay.
There are two reasons why the craven Tyrells didn't join Stannis. One, Stannis is already married. Two, they're still salty about the siege of Storm's End.
It's a shame if Benioff and Weiss are casting Stannis in a negative light because they don't like him. Though, I suppose not liking him is understandable. But I don't think they would be deliberately unfaithful to a major character like that. I like Dillane's portrayal. It's more subtle than book!Stannis, even though I miss his constant bitter raging against everything. I think the showrunners are choosing to highlight the fact that, despite being the true king and a messiah, Stannis' life sucks majorly and its wearing him down. This scene really demonstrates that.
Going back and watching clips from the first 4 seasons of this show is really quite something. It's like, "Oh yeah, that's why this show was such a phenomenon!"
Stannis keeping Davos by his side despite Davos disagreeing with him so much shows one of Stannis' greatest virtues. Even if you'll never get him to admit it, he knows that every now and then, he needs someone to tell him he's wrong. It shows a degree of humility that most people lack.
"Grew to be." You mean the last episode Stannis was alive, where ever decision he made goes against his fundamental personality traits? No that was D&D and their shitty script writing abilities.
I know he will die, I just hope that it is for a purpose and after achieving something. In the show they killed him off like a dog on the wayside, his death led to nothing. Just tying up loose ends Dumb and Dumber didn’t want to deal with. I believe Stannis as a character is too much of a force of nature to die like that. He will die achieving another great feat like the numerous others in his life and he will fulfil his duty.
Because the Tyrells knew Stannis would have investigated who first gave Renly the idea to challenge his claim......and he would not forgive them for turning his younger brother against him
Stannis of house Baratheon first of his name king of the Andals the the Rhoynar and the First Men Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and protector of the realm
This is a king you can trust for he listens to his counsel and accept what they has to say no matter if it hurts or not. Just look at Geoffrey who doesnt listen to his loyal subjects thus died, look at Rob Stark and how the older, more experienced bannermen of his army grew tired of him, just look at Daenarys and her dismissing Jorah the only man who truely and really loves her, though I like Danny but her dismissing Jorah and not listening to Baristan will surely bite her back.... one day. Just as Twyin Lannister said, a wise king listens to those who knows better and Davos knows what is good and Stannis listens, a good trait for a wise king.
I actually really respect Stannis and Davos. The way he ran up on those wildlings was Epic. Just wish he wouldn't let that Red Woman tell him what to do like that.
he actually doesn't he just takes advice from her he himself is an atheist and doesn't believe everything she says and that her god exist but does see she has power
Looking back, it's ironic that Stannis left Melisandre behind as a result of Davos's urging. Davos believed that his doing so was in Stannis's best interests, but as it turned out, it was some of the worst advice anyone ever gave. All that wildfire, and the one person who could have stopped it, left behind...
One of the reasons why Davos is one of my favorite characters of ASOIAF is that because of his humble background he doesn't have that pride to blind his judgment, something that I always thought it was one of Stannis weakness. They balance each other just right.

Pituszly HereShouldBeSername If this was season 8, Stannis, Renly, the Tyrells and Melisandre wouldn't exist because "they're not important". Can't have many characters with nuanced relationships when there's only 60 minutes per episode to make quips and eunuch jokes.
You forgot Davos saying "He's my king"
"Stannis ...kinda forgets.. about the rest of the concersation"
I don't want it
"Stannis is the most terrifying thing in the world, a truly just man." -Varys
Varys didn't mean it as a compliment. Stannis is pure justice, which sounds great until you see what pure justice looks like.
“If we all got what we deserved we'd all be dead."
Justice is worthless if it's not tempered by mercy.
@@NoBrainer457 Also the best heir - Queen Shireen!
This level of dialog has sorely been missed for GoT for at least two seasons. Shame.
The first half of this show is perfect ( season 1-4 ) the second half not so much ( season 5-8 )
@@emperorbartu2414 there was a lot of good in series 5 and 6, but unfortunately not so much in 7 or 8
Season 6 was the low point for me, with Battle of the Bastards of course being disproportionately great.
What did you dislike so much to make it worse than series 5?
stop your bitching, the show is at different point now, theres no time or room for this
"Except for the Tyrell's who fled like cowards." One of many great lines from the Mannis.
The Tyrells weren´t bannermen, they had an alliance trough marriage with renly, not with stannis.
Rakven Renly is dead. Stannis is the king. The Tyrells are cowards, and traitors.

David Walker Roose Bolton said Robb ignored his advice at every turn.
Needless to say I won't make the same mistake if I was King in the North.

Facts!
Gods I miss the good seasons of the show. The thing it became by the finale was a completely different and terrible story
@@unflexian danys madness for killing innocents was rushed and poorly set up tho

@@zeroc977 yeah that too, although they started doing dumb shit evem before they run out of book Material.
*cough cough* Dorn *cough cough*
It's also a tragedy, because Freys and Lannisters have decent members too, and they get caught up in the fights because of their family name.

totally out of character how he kills his daughter, and its disgusting to see ramsey beat a far superior tactician.

Show:
Stannis loses most of his army to desertion, burns his daughter and then attacks Winterfell with his weak and starved army with no plan, only to be defeated easily.
Book:
Stannis keeps gaining soldiers from northenerns who join him.
Such are the tragedies of selfish wars.
wayne king is right.

Correction: Stannis is still pissed about the siege and they know it.
@@IchibanOjousama The Florents were one of the primary rivals of the Tyrells as they too had a claim to Highgarden.
THE one and only true king
stannis of the house baratheon....
Stannis was brilliant. Seriously, he should still be alive on the show.
2:15 chills down my spine
It's a shame if Benioff and Weiss are casting Stannis in a negative light because they don't like him. Though, I suppose not liking him is understandable. But I don't think they would be deliberately unfaithful to a major character like that.
I like Dillane's portrayal. It's more subtle than book!Stannis, even though I miss his constant bitter raging against everything. I think the showrunners are choosing to highlight the fact that, despite being the true king and a messiah, Stannis' life sucks majorly and its wearing him down. This scene really demonstrates that.
Logan Cox They were deliberately unfaithful, they are chosen to be.
This is scripts not the generic dick jokes. The glorious years of GoT
Stannis yet lives and the war is not over, best not to write Stannis off as he still remains and as more fall even more will join.
Sega Sailor He's dead. I'm writing him off now.
Going back and watching clips from the first 4 seasons of this show is really quite something. It's like, "Oh yeah, that's why this show was such a phenomenon!"
Can't believe we went from THIS, to, "She is my queen" "I don't want it"
This show used to be a fucking masterpiece
watching old clips is pure pain all over again. the show falls into a continent sized crater after season 6 for fucks sakes.
Indeed, they did Stannis dirty in season 5 as well
Stannis keeping Davos by his side despite Davos disagreeing with him so much shows one of Stannis' greatest virtues. Even if you'll never get him to admit it, he knows that every now and then, he needs someone to tell him he's wrong. It shows a degree of humility that most people lack.
Who else just finished the last episode and is watching the older episodes because they are actually good?
I grieved for Stannis as well. For the man he was, not the man he grew to be.
I grieve for Stannis as well. For the man he was, not the monster D&D made him to be.
NEON MULLET Me too. They totally screwed up his character but such was the brilliance of the actor enough of Stannis came through.
"Grew to be."
You mean the last episode Stannis was alive, where ever decision he made goes against his fundamental personality traits? No that was D&D and their shitty script writing abilities.
God, I _love_ Stannis' theme!
"Random line from any GOT clip in the early season" - best fucking line in the history of television
0:04 I didn't notice until now the Tyrell shield on the back of that bowing knight. I guess not all of the Tyrell host fled back to Highgarden.
One of Stannis' best lines.
Do you love Stannis?
MARRY ME
Stannis the old mannis , I don't care if the show killed him , I pray grrm doesn't kill him in winds of winter .
He's a tragic character on a tragic path. It won't end well for him in the books either.
Stannis is DELICIOUS.
If I can't have the right King, I'll take the Night King.
Oh buddy...
Give it up. Just read the books, the show is not worth it anymore
Gosh I miss this show. It's a shame they only had 7 seasons
4 great seasons, 2 okay, 2 absolute garbage
1-4 were masterpieces, 5 was ok at best, 6 was good, 7 was poor, 8 was terrible
2:37 Stannis does show some grief towards the death of his little brother
Hard truths cut both ways, sir Davos.
after s8 e5 seems like Stannis wouldnt be so bad at all
Because the Tyrells knew Stannis would have investigated who first gave Renly the idea to challenge his claim......and he would not forgive them for turning his younger brother against him
Stannis of house Baratheon first of his name king of the Andals the the Rhoynar and the First Men Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and protector of the realm
gods the writing was strong then
Stannis! Stannis! Stannis!
Stannis is a real man
I think Mel. is the hottest woman in the show
+thenewwoodsman I see what you did there! :D
+thenewwoodsman *cough* So, you still believe that?
***** that scene... :I
*****
Ultimate boner killer
+thenewwoodsman I feel ya man...
That look in the last few seconds. I like to think that was his love for for his brother coming out.
in the books he admits he loved him
Stannis is a fucking god. Man I am so pissed how they handled him later on.
He is badass I like him
Honestly, Stannis would have ruled the best of all the brothers. Especially with Davos as advisor.
+neneray310 ugh.. try again
+neneray310 Only in the books bro, show Stannis is a fanatic
+TheDihan8 Yea, they made Stannis' character worse in the show. Such a pity.
+DoMiNaTeOLDErWoMeN thank God for the books, stannis is way more badass in them and also is not the fool that dumb and dumber try making him
Looking back, it's ironic that Stannis left Melisandre behind as a result of Davos's urging. Davos believed that his doing so was in Stannis's best interests, but as it turned out, it was some of the worst advice anyone ever gave. All that wildfire, and the one person who could have stopped it, left behind...
Stannis THE FUCKING MANNIS
One of the reasons why Davos is one of my favorite characters of ASOIAF is that because of his humble background he doesn't have that pride to blind his judgment, something that I always thought it was one of Stannis weakness. They balance each other just right.
The music played for all scenes with Stannis is most chilling.
GODS! THE SHOW WAS STRONG THEN!
I wish Stannis ended up on the iron throne, instead of the shitshow that is season 8.
Don't we all, lad. Don't we all.
Seems unlikely
“Fools love a fool” - this just answered so many of my life questions
I love their dynamic.
