They should make this into a video game!
If only if only
I can't believe nobody else has thought of that! Genius!
Really funny 😂
@@TheBrothersMurph indeed though. Would be fun to gather with friends in discord chat and play some slay the spire in coop mode
😂
This might be the first perfect video into boardgame transition.
Aye thanks!
As a big StS fan, I'm amazed at how similar this is to the video game. Im excited to play it in the future
It looks really good! The reduced math in particular is quite nice; Strike and Defend deal and block 1 each and Health seems capped at 9 (11 for Ironclad) so it seems like they divided most values by 5-6. Overall the mechanics seem to have been very well translated to table-top mechanics.
Very much agree
Yeah, but assault got nerfed so no infinites with assault
Thank you brothers for checking out Slay the Spire!! I hope you enjoyed it ❤
Garyyyyy! It's super fun!! You seriously killed the design! Well done
@@TheBrothersMurph I didn't the the 'r" in the first word and was so confused....
Goated
Love how this video was produced. All preview videos need to be like this!
Cheers we’re glad you dig the style
Can't wait for Slay the Spire: the board game: the video game.
now THAT will be something
Just got my collector's edition. Much easier than reading the entirety of rulebook...I still will. Great video!
Incredible overview that answers all the questions I had about the game, and no fluff! Production value is insane. Great work guys. I'm sold on the game
Ayyye cheers we’re glad you dug it!
Full Playthrough here!: ruclips.net/video/RTD43OUqdCU/видео.html
And start on KS?
Yup the Kickstarter drops tomorrow as well!
It’s so surreal to see the cards in Slay The Spire as real playable cards.
DAMN brothers murph on a roll man. Happy for you guys
Ayeeeeee! thanks!
I am obsessed with Slay the Spire and have high hopes for this game. The preview is fantastic, and I see you just posted a playthrough I will be checking out. I still worry about fiddlyness - the game has so much going on/general upkeep it's hard to imagine that translating to a tabletop game. BUT, I am very hopeful!
When I saw Zoo Tycoon the board game, it wasn't anywhere close to what I personally wanted from that IP. This is exactly the opposite and I'm kinda hype to be able to multiplayer Slay The Spire with my brother. My only concern is it being fiddly with all the Slay The Spire mechanics. Great video!
Thanks so much and definitely check out our Playthrough tomorrow we think it works pretty smoothly!
I was the same about tycoon.
this looks like it operates mostly the same but with simplified numerical values
as a fan of the video game, it seems they have adapted the game to a tabletop pretty well. Hope the multiplayer works fine too!
We really enjoyed to multiplayer, a lot of helping each other out!
I've been waiting so long for this moment. The digital version is amazing but I'd love to have the board game.
Heck yeah! We really enjoyed it
Me: Scrolling through slay the spire steam page expecting to see nothing special
Me 2 seconds later: *SLAY THE SPIRE BOARD GAME!?*
Me a couple minutes later: oh that’s pretty pricey
Why did I only hear about this now.. Im a huge StS fan and ive missed the kickstarter. I really hope I can get my hands on a copy of this, Ive always wanted something StS that was co-operative.
Hopefully it’ll be available later!
Honestly, when I heard this game announced I was skeptical. While yes the game is a card game, there's a lot of minor things that make it more suited for a computer game - especially for the latter two characters.
I think they executed the main premise pretty well and evoked the feeling of the original game. I think I'll still pass, but it definitely seems better than I had anticipated
And I'm also surprised they didn't make 800 minis for it.
Yeah they honestly did a really good job of adapting it for a board game, and I am incredibly glad it's not a billion mini's
What should be the motivation to buy this board game if it seems to be no different from the video game in its mechanics?
The digital version is perfect
Cooperative play seems to be the difference. And possibly individual preference of physical games.
My first thought also. A big part of sts is the all the triggers and effects that can never be done in a physical game. Stripping all the million effect triggers, just makes it not what sts is for. I hope there is something that would push me over getting this rather than playing the digital.
Some people won't see the point of a physical STS game, and that's totally fair. We love this because it allows us to play STS together, which to us is super fun. We had a great time bouncing off each other and co-oping the whole thing. But to each their own :)
can't wait for you to play this game... i love the pc one and cant wait to see the bord game, hope you like the game and it seem like a lot of fun.
Play through dropping tomorrow once the page is live! Spoiler, we really like it!
Cant wait for the full play through. Hyped!
Yaaaaas
This looks sick! Thank you for the great explanation!!
No worries!
Finally some exact information about this game!!! Thanks! Can't wait to play it next year xD
We got you!
For the first time I can think of, I need an expansion for a game to tip me over. The digital game is just too perfect as it is.
“Victory has defeated you, StS.”
Nice overview guys! This got me really excited and my wallet really scared! ;)
absolutely terrified!
Thanks so much for overviev
No prob! thanks for watching!
Just like playing the video game but with Tom’s of upkeep . No thanks
This was a great overview vide ! More like this .
No kidding, looks very fiddly. I'll stick with the videogame.
Cheers glad you liked the overview
Got the 1000th like! :D Game seems awesome!!
My only concern is how much power they can give to the player. Each class has a few ways to play them and with the right cards and relics, stacks of de-buffs are common. So I'm wondering what they'll do with having a stack of like 45+ of one status effect on one enemy if it's based on the tokens. As well as health for the player. I'm still super pumped for this game!
That's a great question. It seems in general they have simplified the "Math" of the game so I don't think you'd get quite to that many buffs and things. (however we have only played one act so maybe after getting through act 2 and then into 3 things could really escalate) be sure to check out our playthrough of the game so you can see how things progress through that first act.
@@TheBrothersMurph i think there's a card that doubles the amount of strength you have, that and the card that gives you STR every turn. if they exist in the board game, you're gonna need a lot of tokens lol
This looks great!
Heck yeah!
wow talk about a faithful adaptation. take my money now!
Extremely hyped for this! The video game is great but co-op board games are my favorite, so this is exactly what I've wanted for years!
Nice!!! It’s really fun
I wish there was a way to get the game without paying scalper prices. Hopefully a reprint happens someday even if it isn't huge
Fingers crossed for sure!
You can still order a late pladge not sure what it will do for the price. I know that the collectors plage will cost me around 200 bucks (including shipping and taxes)
Double sided cards? Guess sleeves will be mandatory :x. Can already see the add-on section. Sleeves for 15 and play mats for 20/25 lol. Still going to be throwing money at the screen though. Would be great if the stretch goals include a new character, new act bosses and some new enemies/items/relics. Looking forward to it regardless. thanks for the quick overview, Cant wait to play with the wife as we both love some STS!
Since it looks like it's required for the double-sided card mechanic to work, I'd assume that sleeves will be included in the box, similar to card crafting games like Mystic Vale.
@@pluvia33 Hopefully, I have sleeves on hand anyway but not paying extra for them on the KS would be nice. I feel they are much more important in something like Mystic Vale/Dead Reckoning since it's specifically a card crafting game.
Sleeves come with the game.
@@garydworetsky9025 Awesome!
Yup yup as others have answered sleeves come in the game and make life pretty easy actually when upgrading your cards
This looks great and was a very well done overview. Double-sided cards + sleeves for upgrading is really neat but I'm hoping for different sleeve options. Of all the awesome art for Slay the Spire it's a shame that the sleeve back is currently just the name of the game
I didn't even think about other sleeve backs! It would be cool to have some for each character. Maybe it will be an add-on on the campaign?
This looks so good!!!
I find it odd that the Silent's playmat is different than the other 3.
It would be nice if the digital game had a coop mode. Maybe in StS2, if it ever comes out.
One thing to note is that this is not a finished product so anything that you see may change by the time the final game comes out
I am still confused how the co-op works, is it 2vs enemies?
Yes it's 2-4 vs the enemies. And each player occupies a row which will have enemies
Each player has their own row of enemies that will target them for their attacks and then as players you can choose any of the monsters to attack and focus on. If you watch our play through on this channel it should paint a pretty clear picture for you
Do you feel like doing the upkeep was pretty manageable? One concern I had was that I'll have to do all the calculations that the video game automatically does for you, but it seems like they simplified the system to make that easier.
They are definitely much simpler in this version, which they would need to be considering it’s analog. For us we didn’t mind the upkeep, but also keep in mind that we only played act one. And the upkeep might increase as you continue on through the second and third act. But for us it didn’t bother us at all
Thanks for the review. The board game is indeed similar to the PC version but I am afraid it also means that the game will be too complicated for anyone who is not already a fan of the PC game. I guess I won't be getting this game as my board game friends don't play video games.
Ahh that’s interesting. Good point probably. We and so many others know StS so well that it takes you a long way to understanding this one so I’d be curious to hear someone with no prior knowledge try to tackle the game.
While the miniatures look great, do they add any gameplay value? They seem to just be standing there?
They’re just chillin reminding you who is in what row and what monsters are facing them
My only concern is playing solo this boardgame it will be posible?
I can’t see why not
1 to 4 players, so yes!
Is this available for purchase? Such an awesome idea!
It was a crowdfunded campaign but I’m assuming you can still pledge for the game so it’ll get delivered to you when they’re finished making it
it looks extremly well done. But whats the point of playing it if we have the Pc game?
This offers the multiplayer experience where you can team up and chain attacks together from different characters all at once so that’s the main thing this version offers that PC doesn’t
This may be dumb, but what is a spire? I looked it up and the dictionary said church tower so I don't think that is right.
A spire is just sort of a really tall, thin tower or object that tends to taper as it goes higher.
@@LegoAssassin098Ty! What does it mean then to "slay" it? Old woman here. XD
@@teejleague3838 in this context you're a group of adventurers climbing this tower to defeat the enemies within.
Okay...that makes so much more sense. I didn't know how you could kill a building. XD Thanks!
THIS BUILDING MUST DIE!!!
I’m ready to back this tomorrow
Yassssssss
Hex yes been playing this on the switch!
Noice!
How exciting
It fun!
@@TheBrothersMurph looks like a great translation from video game to tabletop. Super excited for the campaign.
just wow
Me with triple catalyst and nightmare filling the board with thousands of poison chips
Just wrecking anyone in your path
is there Act 4 on the Boardgame?😮😮
Not that I know of, but maybe? We only had access to Act 1
muy bueno pero si tengo que pensar todo eso me muero
imaginate que me quemo el cerebro con el virtual sjdjsdjs
Ahhh mental math when the video game goes brrr
truth truth. thankfully they simplified the math haha
So decided that it is not worth it, good to see the product and all but meh I'll stick to the pc
That's fair
日本語のKickstarter楽しみにしております😊
Heck yeah!
hmm so basically just port from pc to tabletop.. was hoping there is a different flavor that would distinguish it from the original game.. the good thing about the pc game was resources were automated so youre focus on strategy.. the good thing about tabletop is the player interaction and tension.. both of which this game lacks
Wait for the Playthrough video tomorrow to see if the player interaction is more to your liking. We thought that was the best and most different part from the video game
Is this the professor's voice?
Funny seeing you here!
Having now played 70 hours of the video game, I don't think this will remotely work in board game form. You can get insane combos going with Ironclad, for example, that would be a nightmare to figure out without assistance of the app. I have turns where I play 10 to 15 cards or more on turn 1....and it only escalates from there. Stick to the game. It costs one-tenth the cost.
That’s true about the app managing crazy combos but we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly playing the board game as well
Great video but this is literally the video game but we have to do all the math. Yikes.
The "math" is greatly simplified to make it work for a board game, and it's multiplayer co-op which gives it a different feel. But it won't be for everyone. Different stroke, different folks
@@TheBrothersMurph I agree with you and I'm not saying anyone should skip out on this (pending the full playthrough) - I just have a small handful of buddies, like myself, that put 200+ hours into the digital game and this may not be enticing enough. But i'm also more a video game collector converted to real board games - I'm a small niche in the board game community. that would back these kickstarters to begin with.
the cards 🤮🤮
wut?
Too much book keeping imo.
It plays pretty smooth we think. Definitely check out our Playthrough tomorrow to see
omg when on retail?
please don't put it on KS f that...
Kickstarter starts tomorrow...
This is true
F....
I hate ks, will wait to buy it second hand then from some sucker
God I hate ks won't pay for games in advance even if the project is sure to be successful
