    Somewhat unrelated (and I feel well enough to express this thought lol), but I am a huge bug enthusiast and appreciate the effort and quality you put into portraying the dragonfly.
    This may seem odd, but I can tell that you didn't judge the dragonfly--you captured the details that could fit in a fair way and didn't choose which to keep and which to omit based on human aesthetic preferences or to persuade the viewer's opinion of the subject.
    I don't expect anyone to love bugs and insects like I do. I can completely understand why people would rather paint butterflies over tarantulas and why humans are naturally and instinctively put off by them and even afraid of some of them (honestly spiders are my favorite and I find dragonflies uncanny for some reason, I still love them for being an insect anyway lol) . It's why it makes me so happy to see a neutral or positive portrayal of something I love like this!
    I absolutely look forward to any future pieces with whatever bug or insect you may want to give a try! If you need an excuse to paint a creepier crawlie, you have at least one fan excited to see such a thing and will cheer on the idea!!

    Hi Anna, I absolutely LOVE your artwork. You are also a terrific teacher with a very pleasant voice. Many instructors are difficult to listen to, but you are a pleasure to listen to,
    I have one question about your materials. In particular I need information about your fine brushes. I usually buy high-end paint brushes, but my fine tip brushes do not produce the same results that your brushes do. Can you tell us which brand brushes you are using for your fine details? As an example, your depiction of the veins of a dragonfly’s wings. What brush are you using there? Thank You, Gary Shollenberger

    • @AnnaBucciarelli
      @AnnaBucciarelli  Год назад

      Thank you Gary! Really appreciate your feedback 💕 I’ve tried everything under the sun over the years, and landed on Escoda - they have a wide range of synthetics and natural. And the best value for $ in my opinion. As you already know naturals will always give you the best precision, so Escoda Reserva is my choice, or W&N Series 7 (but it’s the same quality just higher price tag as you are paying premium for the brand). One thing to keep in mind that all naturals wear out after a couple of weeks of consistent use. The tip specifically …. What’s left is a good brush with a frayed tip which might explain your experience. I got fed up with naturals - it’s too expensive and wasteful to get new ones all the time. And switched to synthetics. Specifically- Escoda Chronos which is 90% synthetic and 10% natural. Been using them for a year and a half non stop - can’t say enough good things. The tip lasts forever and that 10% of natural sable solves most of the water load issues we encounter with synthetics. So that’s my #1 brush for everything these days 😊 hope this helps! Ps: My go to sizes are 2 and 4.

    I really love your artwork, but as a new small channel myself, would it be ok to ask your something more technical?
    How do you film your tutorials? Do you use multiple cameras or do you stop painting each time to change the zoom on the lense?
    I am filming with an Iphone and I struggle with zoomshots, they just get blurry....
    Sorry, for bothering you....

    • @AnnaBucciarelli
      @AnnaBucciarelli  Год назад +1

      No worries - completely understand as these things are in my mind all the time as content creator 😊 I use 2 cameras - it’s extremely distracting and disrupts the painting process but you will learn to enjoy it - one from the side one straight down. When I edit I switch angles. Both cameras are Sony but as I’ve learned it’s the lenses that make the most difference. I recommend 35mm and 50mm (even 80mm for really close up shots). Hope this helps! 😊

    I have a bottom-up processing observation when looking at details, so I have a hard time with omitting details. To me, the illusion of fur falls apart if I don't include every single strand, no matter how "unnecessary" it is, but my brain can't accept the illusion of detail or implied detail.
    Is there a way to maybe work with this type of information processing?

    • @AnnaBucciarelli
      @AnnaBucciarelli  11 месяцев назад +2

      Very interesting. I can offer some thoughts based on my experience but take it with a grain of salt as I am just a person with a brush who is still learning myself ...I would say paint the way you like and enjoy above all else. The first 6-7 years of my watercolor experience was spent doing just that - tiny details / without filming / the need to narrate or explain the rationale behind every stroke. Some of this hyper realistic work is still on my website / I debate removing it from time to time.... All that is to say I can definitely relate to what yo are describing - the need to capture every strand / every leaf vein / every highlight / even if it doesn't necessarily / or technically contribute to the overall sense of form. These days, I have to consciously simplify certain objects but this is more of a recent phenomena as I try to "work with" my natural tendencies and evolve my style to improve my teaching. But at the end of the day, painting is about mental health, time well spent, and painting the way that feels "right". I keep a sketchbook for more hyper realistic detailed work where I feel more comfortable getting lost in detail without having to create an illusion. This balance works for me and I that's how i would approach it - take every recommendation you see online but balance it out with your own vision of what a good paintings looks like and above all else what a good process feels like. I hope this makes sense - sorry if this was a bit of a rambling response 🧡

    • @jilliancrawford7577
      @jilliancrawford7577 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@AnnaBucciarelliThanl you so much! It isn't rambling at all! It was a very thorough and informative response!
      I say keep your old pieces for everyone to see--it shows how far you've come and that can inspire others too! I when I'm looking for examples of an artstyle or technique I like, I find examples of things I don't like or don't want to go for to be just as valuable because they demonstrate what I don't want to do and why I want to adhere to the advice or methods of a certain piece or tutorial. Your much older pieces where the composition was forced into the shape of the paper remind me of this (no offense lol) just as your newest pieces help give me guidance of making everything flow and allowing for negative space in a more natural/realistic-looking composition.
      Thanks for the sketchbook recommendation too. I have fallen out of practice in using a sketchbook and I should fix that. I often forget that dry mediums exist, that I could still plan a watercolor painting on 20ib paper, but use colored pencils or crayons or whatever the paper can handle since the planning doesn't have to be a perfect mini replica. I need to do things like that more.
      Btw I love the advice of prioritizing the values and patterns before the details! It's really helped in my thumbnails and their notes! I've been sick the past two and a half weeks and details can be overwhelming, even at a planning stage, and this gives me hope that I can make something halfway decent once I feel better to handle them! Thank you!!
