So I’ve been welding on and off since I was 19, I’m 31 now, and I’ve always done basic welding. Aluminum and steel Mig and tig. I’ve always welded hot rolled steel and did some beam structural welding. My question is would it be a good idea to go back to school to learn how to weld stick and go do pipe welding
A lot of fitters assume that new fittings are perfect. I’ve had to grind out the ID or the OD as well as the angle to get everything just right for welding
Good tutorial. Only thing I will say is if you have a end that isn't square, use a file rather than a grinder. Much more accurate. Also on small shed pipe you can get a good bevel with just a flapping disc
Check 15 times, weld once. Steel is so much less forgiving than wood. I haven't welded an inch of pipe ever, but I know a quality fabricator when I see one.
Thank you very much sir I'm in school right I just paused for a little bit for personal reasons but I would like to pursue my welding career ...Do yall have any open spots in South coast academy sir ?
Hello bro I’m a diesel technician and wanted to get into pipe fitting. How great is the job ? A friend on mine works for a refinery as a pipe fitter and makes so much money working so much hours. But is that how pipe fitting is ? Or does it depend on the company? Pipe fitting looks fun and I wanted to see if i can find any jobs as a pipe fitter out here in raleigh NC

Love the channel and all the welders and pipe fittters are so talented well done, keep it up guys. Could i please ask if you can do a video of a fit up using a drawing, and explaining the pipe drawing also please
Nice video. For fitters welders do not like when you put root tacks so bridge tacks are the way to go. Those are nice fitting clamps but no shop I have worked for has so I use an angle iron on the bottom of pipe held on by chain Vicegrip to hold elbow and flange up.
Great job man , love the chanel but could of prepped everything with a cone rock use flapper wheels and Tiger disc for exotic alloys only because in the field sometimes they don’t have enough Consumables
How exactly did you fix the elbow not being level at 23.23 surely if you weld the top to pull it back won't it just pull again when you weld the bottom
At my last job, the company was too cheap to buy clamps like in the video, so we had to fit the 90 sideways and put a level on top, it was either that or sometimes we had to weld a stock bar to the 90 and use a jackstand to raise or lower the stock bar so our 90 would be squared....improvise, adapt, overcome
I might be looking to get into pipe fitting soon. Might be a bit of manual labor but doesn't look too hard to understand. Heck I can move heavy things no problem and I am not dumb too boot so maybe I can do this...lol.
When you add the 1/8” weld gap to each port does that affect the overall length? Or do you take that away during the cutting of the pipe? Thanks these vids are awesome.
