- This video is quite emotional, so if you're looking for a straightforward reaction, you might want to skip it. As some of you may already know, my beloved co-star Bruno has recently passed away after a short illness. Many of you have reached out with kind words, and I wanted to respond. I did so through this reaction video, which serves as my way of expressing myself. Some of you suggested that I listen to @nightwish 's "Sleeping Sun" because it helped you cope with loss. However, for me, it was too overwhelming.
In this video, I'm quite vulnerable. I've been grappling with the decision to share it because it captures one of my most raw and painful moments. However, I believe withholding it would go against the honesty I strive for on this channel, which feels disingenuous and hypocritical to me. Additionally, I've come to realise that there may never be a time in the foreseeable future when I won't break into tears at the mere thought of Bruno, so I won't be able to hide how upset I am anyway - I don't think any of this makes sense and I have to stop typing or I am going to cry in a public space as I type this.

Gosh I’m reading all your comments right now and I’m in floods of tears again. I have to stop or I’m going to actually dissolve and start sobbing. Thank you. I love to know other people get that he wasn’t just a pet or just a cat to me. And I’m so sorry to anyone who has lost or is about to lose their fur baby. I feel you so much. Feeling and crying with you. Lost two kitties the past 6 years, and it was hard, very hard. First of old age, 22 1/2 years, blind, organ failure, she had to be let pass into eternal sleep. Our last cat we inherited from our daughter, she had no space in the center of town where she lived anymore, and was going to travel for a long time. Unfortunately, she was poisoned. Our vet tried really hard to save her, drips, and all kind of other procedures, but eventually nothing worked, and that was about 10 months ago. We had her for five years. She passed away in my arms, with a final little purr while I was stroking her. I am starting to cry again thinking about it.
I do think it is no shame to cry over losing a pet, a loved companion really, at all. I do hope it helps you in your recovery, try to think of the good moments, that is what I always try.

I said farewell to my doggy who was growing up with me since I was a 8yo kid, hi lived with us almost 20 years, few years since then have passed and now I have a kitty. Shes soooo adorable, shes like my little baby, I took her to early (she was only 7 weeks old) but I had to. I raised her literally, she now treats me as her cat parent. I have nightmare thoughts from time to time when I realise that she will also be gone someday... I know there will be long fantastic years untill this happen but it will. She was soooo tiny small, she was sleeping on my lap when I was listening to Nightwish reaction for all those 3 years I have her. This will be heartbreaking for me to watch You right now. The life isnt fair eh?
And damn You chose the wrong song for such a mood O.O be strong over there anyway.
So sorry about Bruno - these wonderful creatures mean so much to us. The emotional depth of this song is illustrated by the fact that on the opening gig of Nightwish's recent tour in Belgium, Floor broke down in tears at the end. The pressure of having recently had surgery and treatment for breast cancer was a lot for her to take on. So yes, the meaning of the song and the emotional delivery is a lot. We all share your sadness and offer our sympathies. The apprentices are delightful.

Thank you! 🙏 this song just wrecked me. I still can’t listen to it. I just miss him so much and it’s almost unbearable I can’t pick him up or hold his little face in my hands.
Please don't feel you need to apologize for sharing your emotions, emotion is what binds us all but sadly most of us don't have the courage to let the world see what we feel, ultimately keeping us all in our sad, silent and separate lives, believing we are strange or deficient for feeling the things we do. If we could all open up, be human and share as you do, it would be an infinitely better world. Empathy grows in this way. I am sorry you are hurting, but the hurting is a tribute to the depth of your love. It is easy to see how loved Bruno was and is. We all leave traces of ourselves with others, especially those who love us. Bruno has left much of himself with you and with his apprentices as well. Enjoy the parts of you that are him. Love doesn't leave or die it is a bond that can't be erased by death or the passing of time.
Thank you for your courage and your trust in us to understand. You really make a difference in the world, and you have made an imprint on my heart and the hearts of many, just as Bruno has on yours. Sending virtual hugs, and from one spirt to another, you are loved. We cry, mourn and heal along with you. Thanks again for allowing us in, to share your life experience in this way it is a precious gift, we will handle with care.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My wife and lost 5 kitties in 3 years from 2008 to 2011. Didn't know I could hurt that much until my wife passed away last October. Your reaction opened my flood gates with you. Bruno won life's lottery when he found you to spend his life with.

I feel your pain Dom. 🙏🙏❣❣This song is very emotional. Floor returned to performing after her surgery and a close call with the dreaded C word. She also broke down on stage during the final chorus. She was overcome with emotions at being back on stage doing the thing she loves most.

I was there for that performance in Antwerp 2022. It was very emotional to see such a strong woman break, Empu also had to wipe away a tear and yet after that song the whole band continued full of energy. They never leave their fans wanting.🤟🏻🤟🏻🎶🎶

I am so sorry for you loss, losing such a beloved member of your family. You need to grief and let it in. It will be grief and sweet memories, a tear and a smile.Allow it. It will help you. The loss of a loved pet is so painful. It's been about 8 years since my best boy ever passed and while it's gotten much easier, there are still times I grieve and sob. Hang in there.

Grieving is a process. Do it your own way and let it take the time it requires. My daughter recently, unexpectedly, lost her pet bunny, Danté, after 8 years, and is going through similar times. Prayers and best wishes to you and yours Dom!

Well done , this is what it's about , sharing a common interest in a "United Community" setting and having each other's back , this is what we need nowadays more than ever to remember our human side . 👍🇦🇺
Oh my gosh, Dom. My heart is with you. Those of us who are animal people, and especially cat people, know what a huge hold they have on our hearts, and that when they leave, they leave a huge hole. My hopes for you is that hole will soon be at least partially filled by the love and sympathy all of us feel.

I totally understand! Since we moved to Austin, Texas, in 2014, I have lost my show dog, named Peek-a-boo. She was my constant companion, and my girly girl. We traveled all across the Southeastern coast of the US going to dog shows. I cried for months when she passed. We did have one of her puppies, that was born with fluid on the brain and his skull cap had not grown in completely. He passed in 2017 at 13 years old, when the vet told us he probably wouldn't live beyond 5 weeks. A few months later we rescued a little Maltese who had a bad kidney from the neglect. We took care of him, and gave him more love than we know he never had until his kidney failed.

Firstly, you made it. Secondly, you are NOT an idiot for crying. It takes more guts to show real emotion than it ever takes to hide them. Those we love, and it is never just limited to humans, are only truly gone when we forget them & there is so obviously a snowball's chance in hell of that ever happening because he wasn't just a cat, there's no such thing. He was & will always be a part of your family, a part of you. Thank you for showing us what it means, what it REALLY means to be open, honest, vulnerable, genuine & real. I'm so sorry for your loss. I am myself an intense cat lover and I can understand your feelings. I'm seventy now and all my life I had cats and every time they had their end their lives I went was in tears. In november my dear, sweet and tender Luna died and I was in tears for weeks and I still am every now and then when I think of her. And the uncertainty that you feel about if you (and the vet) treated her well is so vexing.
This was certainly not a humiliation for you. You look a compleet and healthy person with brains and feelings.

So sorry about the loss of Bruno. I know the pain only too well. This song always reminds me of my beautiful 18 year old desert dog Bertie who was struggling with mobility and got very sick. We knew the next day we were going to have to say goodbye to him and I sat up with him for hours through the night, and the whole time it was going through my head on repeat, "I wish that this nighttime would last for a lifetime." If it had, I'd never have had to let him go. Kudos for having the courage to show your emotions. Bruno's apprentices will do a great job of helping you through your grief 🥰

I can’t listen to it again so far, came on while I was flying and I felt that familiar sting of tears and immediately switched it off.
As a proud owner of a 15 years old dog I'm grateful for each day I'm spending with him, so I'm really understanding your grief. In your case, you can't replace Bruno but you can always remember all the joy he gave you
I had a little dog named Jack that was rock solid for 17 years. Then his health turned just all of a sudden and he was gone in 5 days. The day he passed I was sitting at home and thought I heard that familiar scratch at the back door to be let in. I got up and answered the door out of pure habit and was kicked in the gut again when he wasn’t there and was reminded that he was gone.
I think of him so many times a day ❤️

Dear Dom, I know exactly how you feel - same I had to go thru when my beloved dog passed away 3 years ago. She was such a deep part of me and even the best 'girlfriend' I ever met. It takes time to say good bye - I know. Take the chance of grieving and do not be ashamed about only one tear you spend. Bruno is worth it. I will never again have another dog, as I think he would see me die, and to have a pet means to have responsibility for its whole life, not mine. I am glad to see your kittens, they will have a huge part in your healing. Ok, I think I said enough now, but I wanted to tell you that it is part of nature. Richard Dawkins (maybe you know this from Nightwishs 'Greatest Show on Earth') brought the following words up: We are going to die and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die, because they never will be born.
All I can do from here in Germany is to reach out for you and hug you virtually!

Sorry for your loss. My family has lost 2 dogs and 2 cats, and they've all been hard. I have a big orange tabby that I love dearly, and I can't imagine not having him around. That song always hits me hard too. It has that dreamy, ethereal quality to it that is so beautiful.

Just met Bruno in the last video and now he has departed. Great to see him with the kittens and how they got on. It took a year before my senior Top Cat got used to the new Bengal siblings and started showing some affection to each other. Beautiful video, empathy is what makes who we are.

Hahaha Baxter and Luna have been doing an awesome job of taking care of their mumma. Both so so so cuddly. I can’t wait till they start meowing at me the whole time the way Bruno did. They picked up some of his traits in their 3 months together.

So sorry to hear of Bruno's passing. It was obvious how much he meant to you, and it's a very painful thing to go through. He'll be missed on the channel too, and I was grateful (as I'm sure you were) that he fought to hang on longer than expected. But I'm sure that doesn't make it any easier to deal with now.
I loved the video of Bruno with his apprentices, as well as the new footage of them. I'm glad that you have them around, and I hope they help you get through this difficult time.

Everybody cries during this song for everyone they ever lost at any point in their lives. Your heartfelt reaction is raw, real, and beautiful. As a cat owner, I feel the pain of your loss and the joy your other kitties give you. Nightwish is a tonic for what ails the world. The more the better.

You don't need to apologize for your reaction. I think most of us watch these types of videos because we want real human reactions to the things we love. As hard as it was for you to do this video, I appreciate your vulnerability and sincerity with how you felt about this song during a time of grief. There is no denying that music has the ability to help us navigate loss, and sometimes part of that is just having a good cry. I lost my kitty of 15 in November and my father who was also my best friend passed away on Jan 2nd. Rocking out to music on my commute to work every morning has been my only therapy.

I'm a 65 year old man and nothing brings me to tears, except when my "good boy" Charlie passed in 2013 I blubbered like a baby. I know exactly what you are feeling. Chin up, this too shall pass and will be replaced in time by fond memories.

They remind me of his so much. Luna still cuddles behind me the way she did with Bruno. And Baxter is my shadow the way Bruno was. They definitely ease the loss and remind me they need the same level of love that Bruno got.

I'm so sorry for your loss, this got me so emotional as I remember when our last beloved cat past away last year. The evening he died I stumbled over the Nightwish song "Turn Loose The Mermaids" sung by Anette which had the same impact on me like sleeping sun had on You. God I am so sorry. Bruno passed on the 17th just after my birthday. I hope your baby didn't leave you. I am sorry it took me so long to reply but everytime I start responding to comments on this video I end up in tears again. Everyone has been so sweet.
I cried with you......every loss is so painful ! I had my share too and the pain will never go away....but it softens in the course of time. Some music hurts and heals at the same time. This is such a masterpiece ❤

I think he’s still with me and when my dad woke up from his surgery he kept saying Bruno was on the bed in the hospital. That just destroyed me. Ended up crying my eyes out.

Hi. So sorry for your loss. I lost two of of my kitties during COVID, one in October, 2019, my dearest one, the not just a kitty, in June 2020. I had to put her down, I held her in my arms in a parking lot in my car, since I couldn’t go in, so they brought the medication to the car, then took her from me. Heartbreaking stuff for we mere mortals.
Floor had a short bout with cancer in 2022, caught early, & removed, we, & of course she was so relieved. Floor being Floor soon went off to tour with the band sadly. She really needed more time, as anyone would. Dropping you a link of a fan video of one of those concerts, of Floor singing this song. As you can see you are in good company I would say. Btw…she got right on having her second child last year, we certainly can understand why, being a 41 year old woman. So happy everything turned out so well for her. I do not know how you coped. That would have ended me having to do it in a carpark and then hand him over. We had the vet come to the house and to be honest I howled with pain after he passed and just couldn't let him go. I couldn't breath or stop shaking. When the crematory people came to get him they laid him out for me and put flowers on him but I coudln't stop sobbing. I am crying now as I type this cos it's brought it back so raw and visceral. I miss that fuzzy boy.

Thank you. Luna has been so amazing. She snuggled Bruno’s old blanket and has been clinging to me. And today I got a framed picture of Bruno and when I put it down Baxter immediately went up and rubbed against it. I’m not exaggerating they’re like cartoon cats. And so sweet.
