I’ve been working with a vendor and the sales guy is from NJ. It has gotten bad enough where someone from the high tax and hcol area who thinks Atlanta is very expensive. Not good, Atlanta used to be affordable, especially Alpharetta area.
There are others I’ve know whose moved from Chicago who claimed Chicago was less expensive.

This is a great breakdown for someone looking to move to GA from another state, especially one where the cost of living is very different. I'm curious whether your electricity plan includes special EV charging rates during off-peak hours, and whether you tend to charge them during those times? I agree with you on groceries, it is worth going to the different options around town. I agree and find Publix tends to be pricey at full price, but their BOGOs are the real deal and there tends to be always be a brand of each item on sale. For example, there's at least one brand of bread that is BOGO, one brand of alt-milk, one brand of pasta, etc... so my weekly shopping there is pretty successful. We're lucky to have so many different grocery stores, big and small, in the north metro area. On the property taxes front, I was pleasantly surprised last year when my property tax bill was reduced by around $1000 thanks to GA sending money back to homeowners, due to the surplus. Hopefully y'all benefited too.

Thank you for watching! I’m actually not sure about peak and non peak hours but I would say we charge our cars at 6/7pm and we have 2 electric vehicles.

@@atlantarealestatechannel Gotcha. You may want to look into EV charging rate plans offered by Georgia Power, for example. They have one called "Overnight Advantage" where the "super-off-peak" hours 11pm-7am are charged at just 2.2 cents/KWH. So charging an 80kwh Tesla Model Y from near empty to full would be about $2.00 in electricity. There are more intricacies to consider, but you may find that you'd be able to save a lot on EV charging by doing so overnight with a plan like that.

@@atlantarealestatechannel I misstated the amount; I received around $500 off of my Fulton Tax bill. There was a sentence on my 2023 tax bill (not the assessment, but the final bill), which stated I received it as part of the GA government tax relief for homeowners. However, I'm right there with you in that my taxes themselves HAVE gone higher, due to property values assessments going higher.
