I have a Swisher Splitter. One of the great points about it is being able to disengage the hydraulic pump when starting especially when cold. There is no pulling cold oil through the pump. It is easier cranking and after your engine has run a short time push the lever and engage the hydraulic pump. This feature and being made in the U.S.A. are two of the reasons I went with Swisher. Thanks for the videos.
Even from here in the UK, we agree that you should Make America Great Again. The Chinese (and their cohorts) should not be taking over the manufacturing and control of other countries - neither yours nor mine. So - good to hear of a good locally made tool that is so useful. :-) I also liked your point about reducing wear on the body now to live longer later!

We believe that the destiny of America is not as a low rent service sector economy, hobbled with foreign debt, and unable to manufacture its own goods. For too long we've conflated a cheap price with a good value, which over time has led to broader negative consequences for our industries, communities, and American workers. That's why we're committed to making ALL of our products with an unwavering dedication to quality, value, and service right here in the United States. As a US Veteran and American family owned business, we're proud to partner with a great company like Swisher Inc. who shares our values, to produce our LogOX forestry tools in the Heartland and play our small part in America's manufacturing comeback. We really appreciate Doug and Stacy bringing attention to this important issue for our country, and would like to encourage everyone to buy American made products whenever possible.
I'm retired, and I'll admit that it took me a loong time to learn what you just laid out so plainly. Some years ago, my Milwaukee Hole Hog was stolen. Already had it about 20 years; worked as good as when it was new. Looked on EBay....used 1601 drills about $330...then I saw NEW 1601 Milwaukee for just over @200 ??? Guess who moved production from Wisconsin to China? I found a couple friends that got new drills for $200....heating, loose trigger, etc I bought used for about $350
Thank you Doug and Stacy for bringing attention to the plight of our American manufacturers. By the way you misspelled the word sponsored at the start of the factory tour.

I have a 27 ton Swisher log splitter, it’s great. I have never seen any wood it would not split. I’ve split four foot diameter, one hundred year old oak. It took two men with six foot pry bars to move the logs. Goes from horizontal to vertical very easy. It has a lever to disconnect the pump from the engine to enable easy starting in cold weather. Rule #1 about buying an expensive piece of equipment such as a log splitter.... Always buy your log splitter from a retailer that also repairs and maintains them.
Hi Doug it's Billy with F&M Homesteading here in SE Kansas. We have been heating our homestead house for 3 years with a woodstove. We are fortunate enough to have an Omish sawmill located about 18 miles away. We get bundles of Flat Wood from the mill. The bundles are the size of a big bale of hay. They are 4ft long various diameters. After cutting them to the length we need we get around a rick of wood. The cost for a bundle of this wood is $5. Yep I'll say it again $5 we bought 6 bundles last August and heated our homestead house all winter from October until late March for under $30. So far no log splitter is needed, I'm 58 and enjoy time hand splitting the pcs that need to be split. I agree buy local, buy American Made. Love your channel.
Good morning from Iowa! Last night I had the thoughts to get myself a log splitter, woke up this morning and started searching. And I come across a video from Doug and Stacy about the subject! How lovely! Hope you guys have a great weekend! 🙂

I worked in a Steel Mill in Ky and they were bought by a Brazilian company, They took all the really profitable roll designs and products that we rolled that made mega bucks. We were one of only a couple companies in the US that produced them. They took the designs and moved them to one of their other mills and even though that mill was still making roughly a Million bucks a month after taxes, They had scammed the state of Ky out of several million dollars to invest in the mill to modernize it. They closed the doors and sold everything off because they already had what they wanted the high dollar products!

I absolutely agree to buy local in whatever country you are in, supporting your own industry instead of foreigners. That turkey is just too cute and I wonder if you will ever be able to slaughter him ;-)
Doug, I know that you know Eric from In Farm Land, He splits his wood at the same place he stacks it right off his truck, and I know that you are using a trailer to haul your wood to the spliter where you are. By moving it close to your wood stack, would save you an extra step by stacking each piece as it is split rather than having to pick it up and stack it as a separate process...
We need more "famous" people bringing up these issues!! We need to as citizens TALK to eachother about these things. Even if its just 1 person a day.. It's scary. No exagerations, we're talking about our children's future, which is already FULL with past mistakes... but they keep adding to the fire. KEEP THE VIDS COMIN! Awesome message. GB

You aren't kidding. I tried to look up Swisher log splitters and I got every other kind of splitter but the swisher. I had to refine the search to eliminate the sponsored products before I could even look at one Swisher. Not terribly expensive so I don't understand why you wouldn't buy a made in America one.
Thanks for the video Doug! When I had a company that did machining and fabrication, I did my absolute best to source my materials and tooling from America. I realized that for my Neighbors to have a chance, I had to be the first step. I couldn't compete by hiring Americans when my competition was happily hiring immigrants of dubious status.
Michael Ries Construction Company shut down the day that I had to admit that "yo hablo espanol". Sure I speak Spanish but not at work...EVER. One of the siding guys thought I could not speak Spanish. The things he was saying... had to choose. Kick his ass or leave so I left. Tools everything. No more fighting with the drywallers in mexican...Uh uh. I'm done.
Awesome video thank you for sharing. You save money when you spend more money in the begging and get a quality product made in North America VS over seas. Better quality means less maintenance and a longer life.
Hi ya Doug! Checked out the links, saw ur face n one of them 🙂. N all honesty, the prices for the log splitter aren’t that bad, I get $1100-1200 back on my taxes, i could save a few hundred more and have one. I’d rather buy American made keeping my US dollars here not to mention keeping our American brothers and sisters in a job. Thanks for sharing this Doug!
Doug, Thanks for the info and tour. My grandfather in Sedalia, MO introduced me to Swisher mowers. I have used a Swisher splitter since 2010. I am in NW Arkansas now using the same Swisher splitter. When it gives up, Lord willing, I will buy another quality, Missouri-made Swisher splitter. Many thanks for buying and promoting local products and companies!
Nice video, especially the bit at the swisher factory. I've had the small 12 ton verticals only model for about 10 yrs now. It perfect for the average home owner who doesn't have room to store a larger machine. It's a shame that they don't make it anymore and it's likely that the reason is as you said that they can't be competitive in the market. The primary reason I chose the brand was that it's made in the USA. I alway prefer to buy American made products, tool especially but sadly it's become harder and harder to do.
We use my grandpas old splitter, and thankfully its a good one. BODY SAVER! I used to take the maw when he needed wood, but man that splitter was a great purchase for him (and my back!). That was an AWESOME video! I had no idea zero turns had been around so long!
Most probably the U.S. made splitter has many components made overseas. If for example it needs 50kg of steel and U.S. steel costs $2 a kg while Chinese steel costs $1 a kg, would it not make sense for this company to use Chinese steel to make its log splitters? If the company does not, straight away they will be $50 more expensive than their Chinese competition.
Did not know that. Been busting wood by hand since I was a kid,but like you the years are creepin up on me. We're in the process of having a new chimney installed for a pioneer bakers choice cookstove so its gonna be more of a full time thing now and I've been looking at splitters. I'll give swisher a look.

I use a Swisher log splitter.
As the saying goes “Poor quality is remembered long after low prices are forgotten”
Quality and craftsmanship costs money.
Your video just tipped me over the fence. I will buy a Swisher splitter in a few weeks. Thank-you for this video.
Use the swisher website and code OFFGRID at checkout and if you would follow up with this comment when you get it! 👍
Rule #1 about buying an expensive piece of equipment such as a log splitter.... Always buy your log splitter from a retailer that also repairs and maintains them.
I have never seen a swisher in my area. Looks like a great one.
They deliver direct to your door 🤠👍
@@littlewhitedory1 I bought mine through The Home Depot and Swisher delivered direct to my door.
I had one of those swisher mowers in the mid 60s. Great machine. you could turn on a dime and have 9 cents change,
Hi Doug it's Billy with F&M Homesteading here in SE Kansas.
Thanks Doug & Stacy, I'm very happy to see this video. More people should buy USA made items.
Good morning from Iowa! Last night I had the thoughts to get myself a log splitter, woke up this morning and started searching. And I come across a video from Doug and Stacy about the subject! How lovely! Hope you guys have a great weekend! 🙂
Awesome video. We currently use propane since my husband works at a oil company
@5:38
Sposored video?
Thanks for the upload.
I'm definitely interested.
I'm checking out their website now.
I wonder if they'll deliver to Connecticut.
Buy a Woodmazz log splitter made in Akron, NY They use American made Laser & Press Brake to make their product. Swisher uses Mazak Laser made in Japan. Not consistant
That machine is a beast ! Its awesome ! You are doing good on them cords ! Holly Cow ! How awesome is that mower !!! I love factory work ! I worked for 3 years hand soldering, hot air soldering, and operating a Machine Solderer. LOVE that work. Making Circuit boards and mother boards. One of the plant managers hooked me up with two complete solder set ups because they knew how much i love to solder ! :) If i get to a place i need one, im going to go with a Swisher, that machine is just awesome. ITs fun to watch also. Thank you for sharing the products and the factory where they make it.
I biught the Swisher 4 way for my home built briggs and stratton chain driven, torque converter splitter.
The quality is there!
Bet you like that 4 way 🤠👍
I live where these products are made! My dad used a Ride King lawn mower for years to mow our grass with. It was crank start. I was sooo scared of it because it was LOUD! Lol. My son has a Swisher log splitter and it does work like a charm! Thanks for not only showcasing a Made in America product, but a Made in Missouri product. My husband’s family has known the Swisher family for years. Their store is located on 13 Hwy.
Was that wood cedar or pine? Looks like it. We have a lot of cedar and pine trees on our place. I have a question for you. Someone told me you might have a source for elderberry plants. If so can you tell me where I can buy some.? Thanks
that would be Hickory and riverhillsharvest.com =)
Thanks for the heads up. Knowledge is power.
Wood burning in Ct.
Our winters been rainy n some time cold n colder today's 30 degrees clear n no snow on the ground yet.
Happy new year to you all hang in there, springs comin.
Copy that sir👍👍👍 Came across this in search of a log splitter. Preferably a 35t+ Thank you!
Keep up the good work Doug, those logs are stacking. YOU CAN DO IT!
Awesome. Good for you Doug! I buy American as much as possible, even if it cost little more.
Lol problem is I have a mess in front of where I need to go and until I address that I have to work a little extra ...stay tuned
Yes... buy at home... buy local. :) Happy New Year from our cabin in the Canadian wilderness to yours.
GB
I actually had one of their log splitters and I run that thing for over eight years before I finally got rid of it never failed me once never gave me any problems wish I still had it
Honestly it's a beast lol still running I leave it outside 24/7 have to jump it but it goes and goes
Blessings to you Doug and Stacey.
Stay safe and be well.
I live in Kentucky actually Liberty Kentucky and t a t e r makes their own wood splitters Gates panels and Bush Hogs and all made in America
Sorry, I already bought a log splitter. It is an Eastonmade commercial grade splitter designed and manufactured in Canada.
watching the birds is very relaxing
Couldn't agree with you more Doug...buy American made...Good on you putting this out 'educating' where others might not be privy to this info! Seems the 'homesteaders' tend to buy local cause often we are selling local!! Happy New Year!!
Good on you, Doug. You know what else? We should be pressing more buy American/Buy Local food. More Farmer’s Markets and local produce in the super market. Eat Seasonal - Eat Local.
Great info there! Thank you for your effort in promoting True Made In The USA!
Your making good progress on your wood stockpile. Great job supporting USA made products
I agree.that includes chinamart too.no wal mart for me
Yes, buy USA if at all possible.
That Mr. Turkey he's a wise one, keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer. LoL he's keeping an eye on you.😉
Thanks for the insight I'll be purchasing a Swisher log splitter, as I've been searching for a new one.
There is no way to dislodge a stuck log, leaving hydraulics vulnerable! - Way overpriced
You aren't kidding. I tried to look up Swisher log splitters and I got every other kind of splitter but the swisher. I had to refine the search to eliminate the sponsored products before I could even look at one Swisher. Not terribly expensive so I don't understand why you wouldn't buy a made in America one.
484 people got sucked into a Click Bait title and responded. 3.6k got sucked in by a Click Bait title but still liked the farm animals.
Park the loader at the splitter and toss the wood in it, don't move it 2 or 3 extra times. Or load picking bins to move with forks.
Great video... Canadian here and I buy made in Canada or made the US, I stay away from Chinese goods as much as possible
I like log splitters that drive the plate into the wedge. That way it self clears the wood.
Thanks for the tour. Cool mower!
the 5 ton 12 amp Central Machinery electric log splitter is less than $300 at Harbor Freight and its made in North Carolina
Amen Doug!!! Buy American!!
Whenever we can afford it we always but USA and local:) Great reminder guys!
We use my grandpas old splitter, and thankfully its a good one. BODY SAVER! I used to take the maw when he needed wood, but man that splitter was a great purchase for him (and my back!).
That was an AWESOME video! I had no idea zero turns had been around so long!
Another awesome video guys!! I am thinking about getting a log spliter, but it's going to be one of those foot powered ones.
Thank you for letting us know this information.
Do they source their steel from American melted and rolled mills? Many companies build in America with foreign melted or rolled steel
Did not know that. Been busting wood by hand since I was a kid,but like you the years are creepin up on me. We're in the process of having a new chimney installed for a pioneer bakers choice cookstove so its gonna be more of a full time thing now and I've been looking at splitters. I'll give swisher a look.
