Red Fox Kits Playing Compilation - May 2024

Recently, Greenwood was called upon to rescue six fox kits; determined to be orphaned with the help of our experts and a community member's trail camera.
An Erie resident has observed a wild fox family on their property for several generations and noticed when the babies' parents did not return to feed their young.The video footage collected confirmed the absence of their natural mother and their progressing lethargy. On Greenwood's advice, they worked to safely capture the young ones.
Once at our facility, the little tykes received fluids, a hearty meal, and their first vaccinations. While they rested from the ordeal, our Animal Care Team got to work preparing their enclosure. The outdoor caging was fitted with a warm den, hay, and hidden meals for late-night snacks.
Each day in our care the babies used the ramps to climb onto ledges and snuggle or watch the passing cows graze a neighboring property. It wasn't long before these sextuplets outgrew our space and needed large swaths of land to play and learn to hunt. Our staff collaborated with an individual rehabilitator who specializes in carnivores, who will eventually release them back into the wild.
