Can you help? I don't understand how to fix the issue of my surfaces not having a colour and being transparent after I make them. I am confused.

Is there any way to create a surface from a closed polyline composed of more than 4 points?

Thanks for this video. I use the sweep rail function for complex surfaces. Especially sweep two rails, and rail revolve for round things like ornate turned wood legs. But did not know the loft can also do this.
While watching this, I was waiting for you to mention the sweep rails command… as it is also about creating surfaces…

Fair comment - probably just stems back to the original idea of the video I had in my head - I was more looking for "here's how you add a face to a circle," or "here's how you cap extruded curves," and the lofting was kind of an afterthought, but you make a great point here. Suppose I'll just have to cover it in another video in the future :)

Thank you! this made me so happy when I was able to import an SVG into curves, create poly surface and extrude, (baby steps I know) This is progress!

Using the surfacing tools are quite straight forward, the thing I am struggling with is creating the geometry for complicated 3 dimensional shapes. Any advice or video available on that?

Great explanation! I design boat decks and our scanner guy gives me 3D lines to “unroll” sometimes on walls and rolled floors.I’ve been adding ribs and unrolling manually, hopefully I can clean his scan enough to make a few curves to make a surface to unroll

Awesome man! I use Rhino for boats that I scan for decking. I use a proliner to scan the boats and then use Rhino to clean and create knife layers for the CNC. My issue is when a surface is in 3d. When I am scanning a boat in 3d unlike 2d it is challenging to create smooth lines. To add another layer, a lot of these curves are double curves. As much as I love learning about Rhino, I just want the ability to scan the boats in 3d, create the surface and unroll the surface. There seems to be many way's to complete this task but the tools are mentioned and I never have the opportunity to see them used in this manner in a tutorial. I know there are many other people in my field that struggle with similar issues. The company tells me to just scan in 2d. I prefer to do things the right way so I scan both 2d and 3d. Sometimes there are significant differences, sometimes they are minimal. I use the 2d scan as a reference. If you have any ideas or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate your help. You are also welcome to reach out to me privately and I would gladly compensate you for your time.

thank you for the vid :) do you know a way to automatically create surfaces from areas delimited by a closed polylign or lines interconnecting ? The functions exists in AutoCad as "countour" (in french) it is quite a game changer for a beginner like me

Hey wassup…… I was wondering is it possible to change different materials in one surface, …….like if I want to make the object or the surface that I created to have half glass and half solid material , when I import it to revit . Can you make a tutorial on that, and tnx for this ,it was helpful.

Hi here :) Thank you for this video it did help to get me started with Rhino. I have quite a specific question ; I am trying to create a "pillow" with SubD plane option > Points On > with both X Count and Y count at 4. I would like this SubDPlane to become 3D to get that "puffy' effect like a real pillow, however whenever I select my point and drag them up it doesn't make my plane in 3D.. could you please explain why ? Many many thanks

Do you know how to ascribe an area to a rectangle (or multiple rectangles/shapes) and then manipulate the shapes while keeping the area the same? this would be very helpful for me best regards

Hi. In the 1:07 you draw a surface. It's not flat. This is my problem. I work with rhino since few days. Goes well, but my job needs only completly flat surfaces. Often when i connect 3 points in the space the 4th doesn't want to be in the same area, so my surface is bent. Looked for answer, but it's not easy to find it. Thank you. ps. the problem is only if a have to draw it not in xy, xz etc)

Hello ! I use rhino since a lot of time but I don't know this : how can u do a surface between 2 closed curves. edgesurface only allow me to do this with open curves. But I 've always looking for a command that allow me to do a surface between 2 closed curve . For example I have a square and a rectangle and i want to create surface for one to another without having to do manually eache surface and then join them. Hope u can help
