  • With the temperatures dropping its time to start turning my attentions towards big pike! In this video I hit the river after some heavy rainfall. I was targeting the slacks using jerkbaits and swimbaits and had some fantastic tail walking action!

      When casting from the side angle (not overhead) you can look at the arch angle and control the distance with minimal thumb pressure to get the perfect cast to the snags and near cover, its a bit harder with a fixed spool... you always need thumb pressure towards the landing spot to avoid the birds nest problem though...

    • @The_ginger_fisherman
      @The_ginger_fisherman  9 месяцев назад

      It really depends on the conditions. Sometimes I know what I'm using is the right choice so I just stick with it and other times I might change up every half an hour. Usually it depends on the venue conditions though. For example in shallow weedy areas i might prefer a shallow jerkbait and in deeper areas I'll generally go for a heavier shad etc

    • @paulstares48
      @paulstares48 9 месяцев назад +1

      @alfredshearing6793 it depends on a couple of things like water temperature and the condition of the fish. ( a female could be full of eggs near spawning time.) The fish should lay on its side when it's ready to be netted. I only fish deadbait from October to march as the pike are very aggressive and swallow the bait very quickly and will get deep hooked In summer time and this increases the chances of serious injury or death. Although they look intimidating pike are actually very fragile and need to be handle with care.
