    I've been doing gobos this way for years. I use DLP projectors that allow for better contrast setting vs LCD projectors which will make it harder to eliminate the square surround. Great idea on the ball head setup, I have always hung them with ceiling mounts and clamps upside down from a light bar. I use PowerPoint to make the gobos and save as JPG. Make several sizes so when you get to the venue you can pick which one works best on the target surface.

      I have been doing animated monograms for about 4 years now and have experimented a lot. With that said, the easiest thing that I have found so far is www.livinglightspro.com. You can easily select the template of the animation you would like, customize it with the color of the event (or upload a logo), and the website will send you the file in about 15 minutes. I think normally they provide one of the animations for free, if you would like to try it. The great thing is I have been able to sell the "free" download to my clients, which has allowed me to quickly pay off my projector.

    6:56 you shouldn't really pull the power cable out of a projector like that as it can damage the lamp. That's why when you normally turn it off it has a Cool down cycle.

    • @jay2exclusive
      @jay2exclusive 5 лет назад +3

      I was going to say the same thing! It is very important to let the projector power down on its own. Also, you can check the lamp life in the settings menu so that you can track how much life is left of the bulb.

    • @gailstubs2116
      @gailstubs2116 5 лет назад +2

      Jack's Tech you can damage the main board too without the cool down cycle

      I believe LED bulbs are different from the traditional lamp bulbs so it's ok to turn off the LED ones but I'm only guessing with that thought. I could be mistaken.

    • @timbussen2664
      @timbussen2664 5 лет назад +1

      Congrats!! That is awesome! If this is your first time experimenting with this my suggestion would be to set it up and experiment at home. Note: Don't make the room that you are projecting the monogram in to dark because this will not be realistic to your event. Try the projector at many different angles because you will need to be able to understand how to properly keystone the projector (most new people do not do a good job on this and it shows at the event. Master it and get good at it because it is a rare situation to project straight on). Once you understand that, my next suggestion would be to work on understanding how to remove the gray box around the monogram. There is several different ways of doing this but one of the easiest ways is to add ambient lighting near where the monogram will be projected, such as 2 up lights on either side of the monogram. My final suggestion is to know what the client is looking for by really understanding the client. If you are creating animations, I would suggest trying to learn Adobe After Effects. But it does take a LONG time to learn this and use it effectively. With that said, I have personally made a lot of money by using pre-created templates and then modifying them. My clients love them and I can easily create them. The software I have been using is called www.livinglightspro.com. You simply select the template you would like (after you preview it does), add your text information, change the color of the font or image to the "wedding colors" and maybe add a PNG file to really personalize it. Then in about 15 - 20 minutes you will receive an email that will allow you to download the animation. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hi, very informative and entertaining video presentation!☺ The "halo" as you called it, or gray surround appears because the black is not deep enough. Projectors have that capacity to eliminate it by using DLP projectors, albeit costlier. However often times , depending on how many lumens you have, you can use LED up lights on either side of surface wall, it may help reduce visual of gray box surround...

    I've been using the same setup for years and it's great since clients love it. The only difference with mine is I made my own mount. I use a $2,000 projector with high contrast ratio of 1:15,000 which eliminates the halo.

    • @DJMishaGrin
      @DJMishaGrin 5 лет назад +1

      How do you set it up (contrast) what settings you use to get rid of it and what parts did you use to do mount. I think ppl are crazy paying 150 or more for that stupid thing

    • @guyhermanson3002
      @guyhermanson3002 5 лет назад +1

      @@DJMishaGrin if the projector you buy or rent is high enough quality it will have a high contrast ratio. It comes standard on better models. As far as I know it's not a setting but I haven't experimented with those settings I just use a good quality projector. When I bought mine I made sure it had 1:15,000 ratio. I also have an led bulb. As far as the mount I used an old laptop stand and adapted it to be mounted on a 1.5 inch light stand. So my mount cost 25.00 plus 6.00 for a 1.5 speaker stand adapter. I didn't like the idea of paying 150.00 USD for a mount either. When I first started I just rented the projector since the rental place in my area rents $2,000 projectors for $75.00. The laptop stand is metal and strong. It moves up and down to give me any angle and the speaker mount spins so I get any direction. I also use two screws to attach the projector to the laptop stand through predrilled holes. The stand is black so it blends in and works perfectly. I originally bought the stand at Walmart 20 years ago and it is still working perfectly. I can send you a picture of the mount if you want. Just give me an email address or if I get a chance I'll make a video of it for RUclips.

    I'm not sure if anybody's ever told you this before, but you would benefit greatly by switching out your usual black and white shock effect with just a little zoom in.
    Lots of other creators use this to create emphasis on certain statements where to just keep the audience's attention.
    In the event that you do find yourself saying something shocking or controversial, the black and white effect would be suited and a nice break from the more serious talks. It also works great with your flashback clips.
    Hope that helps! Good luck! Your the best DJ in the biz! Love your work!

    • @SmoothPower1
      @SmoothPower1 4 года назад

      This is pretty important. Check the specs. LCD models typically have far lower contrast ratios(mine is 3000:1) than DLP models which get up to 20000:1 contrast ratio. Basically, you can read this as "if I have a pure black and pure white image on the screen, the white will be twenty-thousand times brighter than the black".

    I believe the halo effect you mention is caused by contrast ratio that projector only has a 3,000:1- a better solution would be a projector with at least 10,000:1 or above and that difference in contrast would not be noticeable a good projector would be the Optoma - HD143X with 23,000:1 that's only $399 and would be a good fit and its HD 1920 x 1080P

      As a nation wide avg. I would say the average cost is about $200 for the animated version. However depending on how "customized" the animation is, I have seen them sell for upwards of $400.

      $150 for static. Never have sold an animated gobo though. Can't say every customer pays full price for it though. It's an easy way to seal a deal though.

      As a nation wide avg. I would say the average cost is about $200 for the animated version. However depending on how "customized" the animation is, I have seen them sell for upwards of $400. As another option though, you can tell your client that you are giving them a "free" $200 gift when they sign up and it helps earn the business. But it is extra work, especially if you are creating your own animations.

    How do you make the monograms? Photoshop?

    • @timbussen2664
      @timbussen2664 5 лет назад

      The monograms can be made in many different programs... like photoshop. However, if you want them monograms to be animated, it's best that you use a program like Adobe After Effects. I will say though there is a learning curve to that program, so don't expect to just buy the program and be able to quickly create animations. Personally I love using www.livinglightspro.com. It is quick and easy to use and you can even customize the animations by adding colors, text, and even sometimes PNG files. The animations are in-expensive to purchase and the files are emailed directly to you after they are done being created. Hope this helps!

    • @KrisSzanto

      Higher lumens and a higher contrast ratio will help but you also will have less of a box if your not trying it in your home from 10 ft away. Try it at a local venue and if needed adjust some of the settings in your projector. Alot is based on wall color as well. Lastly a couple uplights on the edges will help hide I if needed

      The quickest and easiest way to produce these (that I have found) is a website called www.livinglightspro.com. You can select the template that you/ your client would like, customize it by changing the colors or upload logo's and add your text. Then the website will send you a file via email or you can download it on the site. I think the sign up is still free and they allow you to download a free animation. Hope this helps!

    I would recommend a few things: Buy an LED projector so you don't have to replace the globe, and it doesn't need to 'heat up'. If you have a DLP or older projector PLEASE don't pick it up or move it while its operating, it can completely destroy the 'Color wheel', fans or the Globe.

    • @timbussen2664
      @timbussen2664 5 лет назад

      What additional questions do you have? Personally lumens don't really mean much. This ultimately depends on the effect that you are trying to create. I have seen people use 800 lumen projectors that have worked great for what was needed. As for monograms, you can use a ton of different programs to create these. I use Adobe After Effects which allows for (IMO) the most functionality when creating these. The down side is it comes with a monthly cost and a pretty significant learning curve. As an example, my first animation took 9 hours to create and personally I still think it was pretty basic. Since then I started using www.livinglightspro.com. This has saved me a ton of time and my clients love it. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    • @KrisSzanto
      @KrisSzanto 5 лет назад

      Higher the Lumens the better.. 4,000:1 contrast ratio or better will help to eliminate the box but there are other factors as well. Wall color and distance from the wall also play a big part. Most projectors will give you some wall color options as well. You must play around a bit to really figure out how your projector will work best. Also a couple uplights on the edges doesnt hurt. :) Hope this helps a little.
