♫ MUSIC ♫
"Daily Beetle" - Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)
"Toboggan (Smooth Run)" - Chad Crouch (freemusicarchive.org/)
All music was used under the Creative Commons license.
Some things I recommend that weren't in this video:
- Safety pins of various sizes.
- TAMPONS AND/OR PADS!!! I don't care if you had your cycle two weeks ago, PACK THEM!! The last thing you want is for mother nature to come knocking early and ruin your expensive costume.
- A badge attached to the bag with your phone number in case you leave it somewhere and a kind soul finds it and can contact you (put a friend's number on there too in case you leave your phone in the bag as well).
- Deodorant for freshening up (or if you can't reach your pits in your costume, body spray is fine but don't over-do it out of consideration for others).
- Snacks like protein bars or anything that doesn't require refrigeration and you don't mind eating even if it's a bit smooshed. Seriously tho, con food is expensive so bring your own!!
- If you're wearing prescription contacts, bring your glasses in case you need to take your contacts out and don't want to walk around blind.
- If you're binding, bring an emergency bra just in case you have to remove your binder and walking around commando ain't your style (I recommend wire-free so nothing gets jabbed and/or your bra doesn't get bent).
PREACH
Also a spare bag
If you’re going to buy a lot of things it’s best to buy a spare bag which can be folded really small
Panty liners are handy as well. cause if you have that annoying Bra break and wire escape you can use it to cover the end and keep the wire from stabbing you.
Also tiny scissors to stray threads, hairs etc. I also keep a toothbrush and a travel sized bottle of hairspray to fix my wig
"so i have this GIANT bag" *holds up small bag*
Clara Wallace I thought I was the only one who thought that
@@fiveweenies7802 My bag is literally a medium sized "suitcase" with wheels xD leaving things behind me on a hotel room or similar just feels wrong to me
You seem like the "mom" friend that everyone has in their group.
I'm that friend
Taliyah Rivera my thoughts exactly
😂👍🏻
My dad is the “mom” friend.
I'm the mom friend
I tend to bring bags that generally fit with my character. If I'm cosplaying an adventurer or like a royal type character, I have one type of bag. If I'm cosplaying a superhero, I have a Marvel or DC bag (depending), if I'm cosplaying a school kid, I bring my backpack, ect. It makes me feel more in-character while still having all my essentials with me!
Same! I'm building a Rose Quartz costume now, and am building a cheeseburger backpack to go along with it.
Dark Angel Bakura I'm being Steven universe for a con this year so I'm bringing a cheeseburger backpack
Same here! I cosplay Winry from Full Metal Alchemist in her work-outfit, so when I cosplay her I carry around a toolbox as my con-bag! Super in character, and I can even pose with it if someone wants to take a pic when in a hurry ;)
Saaaame
Same. I did an Attack on Titan cosplay for AnimeUSA. I got a Survey Corps patch sewn on to the front
'I could punch a shark'
The smol quivering rin made me lose it
I know I just sat there starting at the little rin
Lily Dowell Poor Rin! XD
I highly suggest this for cosplayers with lady parts. Be sure to bring pads and/or tampons to the convention. you don't want blood all over the back of you $150 costume
and it can be for others, too
+Jake-Senpai I got the contraceptive arm implant (Implanon) to get around that, it can stop visits from Aunt Flo completely or make the visit a lot milder.
+PKBitchGirl I have the implant, too. Definitely, most highly recommend. Lasts for three years!!!
Thankfully my cosplay is black and mostly washable (I took a lot of things into account when I planned it) but yes. Always with the supplies. Doesn't matter what day it is or how long it's supposed to be before the cardinal comes back...
Jake-Senpai | UGH I hate that time of the month. I cosplay for AOT and oh gosh the white pants xD
- Supposed to be working on cosplay
- Instead, watching all of your videos... Again...
- This happens too often
Same-
To avoid con plague, I usually start taking vitamin c tablets a few days beforehand and throughout the con, and most of my friends do, too. One time I was the only one to do so and in hand, the only one who DIDN'T get sick, so they took my idea more seriously from then on. :v
Moss Bot
Way that’s a thing!!????
Thanks for reminding me, I need to put Vitamin C in my convention bag and drink some before next month. Never gotten sick for a convention, but I like to keep my immune system healthy
I'm sure I'm not the only person here who would highly recommend that the 3DS goes in the bag too. ALL OF THE STREETPASS!!
and then ur like "OMG I GOT 3000000 PPL BY STREATPASS YAY" XD
Oh my god, that is genius. XD
the real question is... who else would have their 3ds? it'll be pointless if only you and your friends have them.
WaffleCat3367 Oh a lot of people, I was at a con last week and met like 50 persons with streetpass :D but you have to check ur 3ds often, because you can only have 10 persons in the entrance at the same time ~.~
Hisoka Morou oh... i just homepass and get like, 3 people so i never knew there was a limit.
I just hoard things in my bag like I'm preparing for doomsday XD
Same
Omg this is the best thing ever XD
Me: woo! All packed for the con
My friend: um..
Me: what?
My friend: we're only going for one day...
Me: And?
My friend: I don't think you need you ps4 and tv....
Me: YES I DO!!!!!!!
haha so do I i keep tins of food waiting for a survival situation.
yup, I'm prepared for any situation. Need open heart surgery? Got you covered.
I'm the person to always have cake with me, strangely enough, and start feeding everyone around me. So instead of a walking pharmacy, I'm more like a walking bakery.
Xancira15 like, actual cake? Wouldn't that get squished?
You should cosplay Honey from Ouran next time you do that!
So you're Dad Egbert from Homestuck? 😂
There’s a Doctor Who cosplayer circling around we call her Missy or the tea lady and she pushes around a cart decorated like a Dalek and serves tea to people
Thats actually adorable
I never thought to take some blotting paper before, despite my oily-combination skin! Thanks for the tip!
As for my con bag, I usually take the following:
-My phone
-My 3DS, with a few games
-My wallet, complete with cash, credit card, State ID, and hotel room key!
-Water bottle, because I get dehydrated easily ._.
-Mini sewing kit, because rips will happen
-Band-aids
-Travel size deodorant, because deodorant does not last all day. ._.
-Some snacks, because I don't eat much during a con.
-Glue gun, lint roller, and duct tape.
-And lastly, my camera, with extra batteries, and SD cards.
I am still trying for cosplay cards, myself, but I don't have any way to get them right now. ._.
Advice for your phone battery dying really fast. Like you said, it's due to the fact that it's looking for wifi and service to connect to. If you put your phone onto airplane mode, it won't look for those connections anymore, but leave things like your camera in use, while your battery will last a lot longer. Hope this helped.
Thanks for the advice.
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
+tetsubo57 words of wisdom
lol I would add deodorant to freshen up at any given point not to mention that (little life hack) if your shoes are rubbing your heels you can use it to reduce the friction :). Btw those little tweezers in the contact case are actually used to put them in your eye but I have never used them because the idea terrifies me and the little bottle is for extra solution :D
+kitastrophey Oh, I know what the bottle and tweezers are for, haha! I never use the tweezers either that just freaks me out e___e There's some other thing in there too called a "stick connection" but I have absolutely no idea what that's supposed to be used for
+MangoSirene oh lol my mistake. omg I saw someone use those tweezers and I was holy cow that's what that's for. it's bad enough using my finger O.O
+MangoSirene Actually, I think the tweezers are just for taking the contact out of the case (so you dont get your fingers wet with solution) or to take them out of your eye. Theres a stick (which I'm assuming is the stick connection thing) that you can put the contact on to insert it into your eye. Seems kinda convenient buuut I dont want to be poking my eyes with sticks.
*starts video* *sees all the Free! stuff* hell yes
adverbialphrases yh how free can YOU be
When I go to conventions I always carry bags, but I try that they match the cosplay that I'm doing. For example, for my Misa Amane cosplay I carried a black bag. And for my next cosplay I'm planning to do my own bag!! That's because I'm planning to cosplay Menma from Anohana and I'm going to try to make a bag that has the shape of the flower that represents Menma, I hope that it works!
I do something similar with my cosplays. For Oliver Kirkland I bought a cute little purple bag and for Juuzou I bought a red Jansport one c:
It's always nice when one of your character's props is a backpack
I'm about to cosplay Hide Nagachika, and he's constantly wearing a backpack
Thank the ghoul gods for convenience
GOD BLESS SUPANOVA FOR HAVING A COSPLAY REPAIR STATION.
TRUE
I wish we had that here. I often bring my own sewing kit along with other things like ribbons and hot glue since there’s no repair station at the cons I go to. Some people would be so kind to actually help you with your cosplay repairs if its a part of your costume you cant reach.
I'd also recommend pre-packed snacks, maybe even lunch. You don't want to waste your time and money in line while you'd rather be out there hunting for cosplays and merchandise; besides, some con food isn't very good.
Personally, I've never had con food but my friends have said it's not nice.
Never had it either, but we usually go to a Japanese restaurant or skip meals cuz we're all super healthy.
Sometimes stuff can be overpriced too.
+11skatergirl1 Skipping meals isn't healthy, especially when you're walking around all day. However, going to a restaurant is a great idea!
For some reason, all of my local cons do not allow you to bring in food or drinks from the outside, and they also search bags for obvious reasons. I usually leave the con for lunch.
i carry a lot of the same things but i also add in LASH glue because homegirl can't trust a ratchet lash.
A lot of this is really useful and what I take to cons myself. I keep a water bottle with me, some snacks, my camera, phone, phone charger, wallet, and even some makeup in case mine starts to wear off. And like some people in the comments mentioned, for girls, do carry tampons or pads with you. I always do in case of an emergency.
I never thought about carrying hot glue. Then again, I dont make costumes. :P I didnt think about sanitizer either and luckily, the conventions I have gone to have straps that go around your neck to clip your badge so they dont get lost. One thing I learned from cons is only use your card if you must. I pay for everything with cash.
+MiyuChan Does everyone get a badge at cons??
Nerdy Unicorn
Yes they do. Its required to enter after all. They usually have lines in the center itself to pick them up.
MiyuChan thanks
@@GamingSuccub in my experience in my country we don't get badges to enter the con and instead we get wristbands :)
In germany we have this kind of Cosplay survival booths that help you out with some hot glue or things like that. I think this is a very good idea. I also carry always some tissues with me and some basic bobby pins and stuff like that, just to be safe. XD
I'm awful when i comes to con bags, Every time i go to a con i bring this HUGE backpack full of a whole bunch of crap, Most of the time i have to hold our con groups lunch, or it because i brought my whole make-up collection XD but i hate it so much, at the end of the con I'm always on the verge of setting it on fire...
I need help >~
omg I have the same problem. I carry my whole group's stuff because I have a huge bag but I'm dead by the end of the day
+kirahkitty sammmme!!! I'm just so bad at overpacking >.
I actually like bringing a backpack because I find it better to keep my stuff organized and in place c:
also handy is a little bag with periode supplies, painkillers, something for a sick feeling in the stomache and tiny siccors
If you are cosplaying somwone from aot (or anything with white or really anything) its nice to have a thing like a tide to go
I never have did this but maybe you could pack extra wig caps because you never know when you have a bad wig cap...I guess
my con bag
3ds
phone
food
keys
bmo wallet
hairties (if needed foe costume)
sewing neesles and thread (for any quick repairs but they usually have a station at cons in australia with hot glue gunsand stuff)
makup to get ready at con
4:22 Flashbacks to taping you into Panne at Katsu, ahahaha. DUCT TAPE IS KING. (I also tend to bring a pair of small scissors along for that, because ripping duct tape by hand is not super fun.)
Also, we've never swapped cosplay cards?? We should do that!
+StarsOfCASSiOPEiA Going up on stage while literally taped into a costume like that was possibly the most terrifying thing I've ever done tbh. THANK YOU FOR SAVING US. ;O; And yesss we should totally swap next con we're at together!!
***** You are such a brave soul.
A couple of things that she didn't mention, but are rather useful:
Tissues (especially if you have a notoriously runny nose)
Headphones
Small comb
Pen/pencil
These are all really small, but can come in handy!
All cons i go to usually have a cosplay repair table with tape, pins, glue etc. so I don't need to carry all that stuff around anymore (thank god)
I recommend bringing a foldable hand fan
cuz seriously, cons are insanely hot + layers of costume + weather
I also recommend bringing a GIANT BAG even if you don't have anything in it
I always start with an almost empty bag, and fill it with stuff i buy over the day
I also recently started bringing a small suitcase instead of bag, cuz shoulder straps always pull on my costume and WIG
suitcases aren't recommended in crowded areas though, running over people's feet isn't nice
a suitcase with a backpack strap or something is good
I always bring safety pins. ALL TEH SAFETY PINS! (I think I still have random ones floating around my backpack from my last con)
Usually I run around with a backpack with my camera bag (bags in bags, yeah), water bottle (I always bring my water bottle wherever I go), nutrition bars (because it's an easy way to get some sort of sustenance quickly inbetween stuff), the mentioned safety pins and whenever I can remember to do so I bring the character specific makeup stuff (specific lipsticks, eyeliners, whatever may smudge or fade). And I've been horrible about it the last few conventions but I try to remember to bring spirit gum as my lace front wigs tend to start moving around for whatever reason.
After seeing this video tho I'm gonna start to bring duct tape and some more medical stuff as well. Oh, and a dedicated small bag for business cards and stuff, because those always tend to fall out of my wallet and float around in my bag.
To those of you worried about the bag ruining a photo, a good plan is to buy, make or bring a bag that matches with your character or theme you're going for. For Example, if you're going as Misa from Death Note, bring a bag with skulls, crosses or other gothic themes on it. It can make you feel much better about the situation and can look amazing with your cosplay
I just realized your action figures and can see you like Panty and Stocking! Will you cosplay Stocking, maybe?
+sade bae I cosplayed her 3 years ago when the series aired!
***** Do you know where I could see your cosplay? because I bet you it looks amazing! Also have you ever heard of Dangan Ronpa? if not I TOTALLY recommend it!
+sade bae I have links to all my cosplay sites in the video description! C:
i heard someone say danganronpa
Did someone say hope and despair?
Batteries and mini sewing kit, those are like essentials to me XDXD
Oh yeah! Those tiny emergency sewing kits with needles thread tiny scissors and safety pins! Those are so great!
I keep a large amount of pain meds in my bag because I get very sore in my back and ankles at cons so that helps me a lot.
Deodorant is a must.
1000000 bobby pins because it's a reflex left over from dance
a small make-up kit (foundation, lipstick, blush and eyeshadow) because australian cons leave you sweating especially in the summer
and of course the 3DS
+Hamster Cosplays and hairspray for wig and tight maintenance
+Hamster Cosplays I'm exactly the same, I have a bad back and legs so I always have loads of meds with me, hundreds of Bobby pins and a makeup kit - I don't need to worry about being too hot though, I live in Scotland lmao
Excuse you, but that is NOT a huge bag :D Mine's probably twice as big. I always carry at least 1,5 litres of water (European here) and some granola bars and candy for when I or one of my friends get hungry (aka cranky) through out the day. And safety pins. Like a lot of them, because you never know. And a mini sewing kit. Deodorant, because reason. And some hair spray, if my wig needs it. And probably a lot of stuff I don't even need but was to lazy to take it out of my bag
I like to pack a small towel so I can sit on the floor during long waits. Also I like the cosplayers who actually incorporate the bags into their props.
the sharknado reference is the u.s. coast gaurd's motto
Don’t forget to bring the water and snacks!!! I once passed out because I was really tired from con crunch and fell to my knees because I was so exhausted from not getting to eat as often.
My emergency repair kit always consists of:
1) A mini sewing kit
2) A hot glue gun+ fillers/ some type of fast drying glue
3) Patches of the same cloth/ material I made my cosplay out of just in case
4) Tape. Masking and duct
And finally
5) A set of markers the same color as my prop
It's the bare essentials but I've found that it works well
i usually bring a comfier pair of shoes if i'm wearing high heels for a cosplay. saves my feet a lot of pain. also, i feel like your free keychains should be called "freechains."
Its a good idea to bring a non-cosplaying friend to the con (not in your bag though). They may not mind helping you out with your bag and they can defend you if you are wearing a costume that blocks your vision.
I always enjoy stashing a book or manga. In case I have to wait in a line to get my badge or to get inside a panel.
Also yes, get hand sanitizer. It's great when you have to eat but you don't want to consume the grubby con germs on your hands.
My cosplay bag generally has the following:
1. Hand sanitizer and deodorant! (You never know what you might touch and deodorant so that you don't smell lol)
2. Phone charger and phone both fully charged
3. I have this weird container thingy to keep art from the artists alley
4. Extendable water bottle and some nuts or some other snacks
5. Wallet duh! With around 100 cash and credit just in case
6. Subway coupon cuz I usually have subway during cons! Lol
When I go to a con I bring;
1.Hand sanitizer
2.Hand cream
3.Lip balm (I personally find that I tend to need it)
4. Eyeshadow (if I'm doing a character that has a really bright hair colour or their hair isn't the same colour as mine, I use eyeshadow on my eyebrows but it can sometimes come off)
5.Water
6.Charger for my phone
7. My phone
8. Hair gel (if I have a character with incredibly spiky hair, I might want/need to give it the odd touch up)
9. Sanitary towels (I put some on the the inside of my clothes under my armpits so that way if I sweat they will soak it up and them I can change them out when I get the chance)
10. Deodorant
11.Snacks (con food is pricy and if you want to spare your money for merch then always get small snacks before hand, ex. Nuts if not allergic, energy bars, savoury crackers even, ect)
12. A a4 book ( any old a4 book, so I don't have to be too worried of I get a print from the artist alley, this way I can be more sure that it won't be in my bag)
13. Spare pen (you never know if you need a pen or not)
14. Lint roller
15. A 3ds (to pass travel time)
And that's all.
Edit:also, this is my one day bag. I've never done the 2 days, just the one, drive there then drive back the same day. So this is like my around the convention bag.
I miss the street pass days
I also carry a full set of tabletop gaming dice in my con bag, so if you're into that....bring dice. And a mechanical pencil. Also, because my cosplay is black and it attracts every piece of flyby not black particles around it (plus my non black cat) I carry a lint roller.
Oh my goodness we have a lot of similarities in what we carry lol. A few differences, I always carry a small first aid kit like thing that will contain: bandages, wraps, cutips, neosporin, spray alcohol and spray peroxide, safety pins, and scented and unscented hand santizer. I am also known as a living pharmacy lol. I normally carry medications for stomach, head, pain, nausea, heartburn/acid, sinus/congestion and sleep aids. XD I carry a lot really. This is all in the bigger bage I carry around with me.
I sometimes carry more than one wallet, and I love the idea now that you have of having a small coin purse within a wallet as well as a cards holder.
I pretty much carry almost everything but the kitch...oh wait hand sanitzer...I carry everything but a bed lol. Usuaully if someone needs it I will have it whether with me or in the car.
I always have personal hygiene things with me as well if not for others including: tampons, mens and womans deoderant, pads, bar soap, kleenex packs, makeup bags, and I am always prepared with like 3 water bottles and tons of snacks lol.
if your bag is big enough, a packed lunch could be helpful too :-) when my friends and i go to momocon we bring bread, pb&j, and cold cuts to keep in the fridge in the room. We also bring those variety paks of chips, water bottles, and crystal light packs. Then we just make our own lunches before we leave the room for the day. Its saves us money for at least 1 meal a day! :-)
We always bring a backpack full of food (usually snacks!), water, camera, money and our cards ! :)
I usually bring the same stuff but I also bring tons more. A list of things that I take that are important for me (maybe other people as well) my glasses case, glasses in general, contacts, snacks/lunch, money, phone and pad/tampons(even if you have gone passed your period their still good to bring for someone else) those are mostly important things I take. Some of the other things that could come in handy are things like hand sanitizer, portable charger, deodorant(they normally don’t last the whole day and you don’t want to smell bad) lipstick sometimes I bring more than just lipstick if I’m using things like eyeliner or eye shadow. I also bring bandages, mints, tissues, pen and notebook(they can come in handy if you need to write something down.) and I also bring a big bag that I can fold. I normally bring them so if incase I buy things from the cons I can put them in there instead of having to carry them or put in my bag(taking more space.) anyways hoped this helped some people on want to bring to cons!
A small emergency sewing kit, pain reliever, wipes, folder or portfolio for art prints or small posters, a small hairbrush or comb, and for the ladies, pads or/and tampons (even if you're not expecting your week to start during con, i'ts always convenient.
I usually bring a power strip to cons with me. It turns 1 outlet into 6, where I can use a hot glue gun or charge my phone. You can buy them at the dollar store. I also bring a stack of granola or energy bars for a quick snack because con food is expensive.
My partner loves to cosplay Luigi with a Poltergust he made from luggage. It doubles as a huge, super-convenient place to put our stuff that doesn't take from cosplay and is impossible to lose since he never needs to take it off.
I think you or other people who attempts conventions should maybe bring a scissor, needles and tread c:
I bring it to conventions, in case I need to sew my cosplay if there's a hole in the clothing or something cx
Going to my first con this year and i'm obsessed with cosplay videos! I literally stay up all night just to have some quiet to watch these videos xD Its 3:00am and I'm just watching videos of cosplay things on here LOL
In 2017, I was cosplaying Joel from The Last Of Us and took my regular backpack with me. It doesn't look like what Joel has but it was something. And also heavily insulated. Like the cosplay also was. In late May. Most sweat-inducing cosplay I ever had. Never doing that again!
Prescription meds, mini sewing kit, extra batteries for camera, granola bars and trail mix, pen and paper (dont ask), pain patches (save my life often), roll on bottle of cologne or perfume.
I usually have 2 con bag. one is for stuff like camera, makeup, phone, portable charger, water bottle, earbuds, cards, a book( in case I get board and need to read) umbrella(In case it decides to rain), glue, tape, sew kit, bandage, wallet, map, spare battery( In case the portable charger decides not to work), glasses( in case my contact fell), pills( in case I get sick at a con). And my other bag is for souvenirs I got at the dealers hall.
I carry Benadryl. If you have a food allergy it really sucks when you get hives at a con because your meal accidentally got contaminated by an allergen.
The little bottle in the lens case is for lens solution! Super handy not having to carry around the big bottle if the case leaks or something 👌🏻✨👍🏻
If you plan on buying any sort of prints, I'd recommend an accordion folder so they don't bend or tear.
me: Of corse i need my 5th sweater, it could be cold
temperature: is hot
I always bring a mini straightening iron and a tiny bottle of hairspray. You can get the hairspray in the travel section of most stores and the tiny irons you can buy at any beauty supply shop. They are super handy for styling wigs with heat or spraying little flyaways of your real hair back under your wig. And I recommend having a bottle of sugar tablets with you. They are used for diabetics but even for non diabetics, walking around a con all day can give you seriously low blood sugars. You can just pop a tablet in your mouth and chew it up to give you an extra energy boost. They come in really yummy flavors too!
I also bring my a small sewing kit, typically needle and thread with small scissors in a tiny bag just in case my costume may suddenly fall.
Extra wig caps, bobby pins, and any makeup you're wearing should be in there too! For touch ups and wig problems. I also carry around a mini sewing kit in case something seriously needs to be tacked back down.
I'm on the hunt for a good dedicated con bag, but I always have a small sewing kit, a bunch of meds for headaches or allergies and bandaids somewhere on my person. (My dad's an emergency responder, I feel naked without a first aid kit, apparently.)
Bring hairspray and a brush for your wigs, sewing stuff (in case it's a material you can't hot glue). Also, LOTS of extra makeup to fix any mistakes. Maybe a selfie stick? And lastly a 3ds because street passes.
I literally carry 2 or 3 extra wig caps with me whenever I am cosplaying, whether at a con or elsewhere because you never know when you just might need it.
I know that feeling of being a walking pharmacy. I always have bandages, pain killers, allergy medicine, sanitary wipes, and pads (because periods and SnK cosplay do not go well together....especially when one of them is unexpected.)
thank you so much for including links to all the items! I have a mighty need for all the cute things now :-)
At the last con I went to (aka, my first con in almost 4 years), I was only there for one day, yet I think I had literally everything in my bag. Velcro strips and a huge pair of scissors (for costume malfunctions), my entire makeup bag, a water bottle, my wallet, my phone, my external phone charger.
I can relate to this on a spiritual level mango omg ✨✨✨
Your Free! keychain is actual goals, love it so much! ^^
Cosplayers here in Singapore they carry luggages XD
LOVE ALL YOUR FREE! STUFF! ❤️❤️❤️
A travel power strip. I got one from Ross for about $6 but I'm sure you can find them other places. It's a portable power strip that fits like maybe 2-3 plugs. So in case you don't have a portable charger or its dead. You can often persuade another person to share a outlet with you if you can both charge at the same time ^^
Aaah I love all of your videos !!!!
As I actually am a pharmacist, my friends/photographers at cons call me the cos-ache pharmacy (y)
It's never fun when you have to leave a con early because you feel sick or something, so my kit always comes in handy :D
When I go to Cons, I try to make my bag match my cosplay, character wise. For example the last one I did was Harley Quinn, and I had this tote bag with the joker on it, so it just seemed appropriate. For my next cosplay, I'm doing Sylvanas Windrunner, and she has a quiver, so I'm going to make sure it's large enough to fit a water bottle into, as well as emergency supplies.
I would suggest having some fabritac in your bag, in case your costume rips or something and you can just put a little dab on it and fix it. Fabritac works amazingly!
I just realized that I actually bring most of the stuffs you bring, well... with the addition of some lip balm and some eyelash glue in case of emergency.
I LOVE YOUR PHONE CASE!!!!!!
I have like all of that plus a mini sewing kit, super glue, bobby pins, and safety pins
Hey! That "other thing" in the travel sense case is actually for solution! I have one too, and you twist the top off and theres a little nub-thing which at first is slightly difficult to take off, but it comes off and you can fill it with solution!
Always lovin' your videos :3 ! Thanks for helping us cosplayers be prepared :D !
Oh my gosh. I have that same lanyard for my car keys. I saw it at Hot Topic and had to get it.
I don't carry much in my con bag though. Just money, water, and a small sewing kit (Just in case.)
(I also really want that Hibike Euphonium! poster is SUPER CUTE!)
My friends and I didn't want to bring bags to Cons way back before we saw this vid, but then we were enlightened (thanks!!!) and started bringing bags 'cause we experienced stuff like you pointed out. It was inconvenient at first, all of us carrying bags whilst stopping every now and again to get pictures taken. We ended up having this sort of agreement where, if there's someone in our group who chooses not to cosplay at the Con, they end up as the "Mom Friend" and bringing the "Mom Bag". What happens is we stuff the Mom bag with sharing stuff like make-up, a sewing kit, bobby pins, medicine, water bottles, and the like. Personal things like phones and money are usually put in smaller bags the others can easily carry whilst prowling the Con. It's worked out without issues for us so far, and so I guess people who prefer to go in a group can do that too. :3
super helpful can't wait for my first con!!
I normally keep my sketchbook for when I'm bored in line, also my headphones because sometimes I need a little escape. For me though, the vital thing is snacks. I'm hypoglycemic so I need to keep food on me. At MMX I had a small bowl full of grapes in my bag that I munched on all weekend so I wouldn't pass out. Stay healthy kids.
I'm a walking pharmacy myself. I usually have headache medicine of medicine for the unfortunate female weekends...I have a wristlet wallet to keep almost everything and when I need to flash my ID, it's on the very front and easy to slide out! I would bring my own lanyard for my badge unless the con's free lanyard is something special. I keep an eyeglass case in case of taking pictures without my glasses which happens a lot.
I don't remember everything, but it usually ends up me carrying the camera box in my bag because the strap is broke and I do not have an expensive case yet.
Btw, awesome Haru bag! Really adorable!
FOR PROPS YALL
SUPERGLUE IS 💯💯💯💯!
1) no outlet
2) fixed in seconds
3) tiny and can hold onto anything
4) pretty strong too
Love the stocking figuring in the background!!
Soooo don't know about other people but here's what I keep in my con bag (which is always stylish or goes with my cosplay lol): Lunch (because Con food can be expensive), wallet, keys, taser that is holstered because hey you never know... a cute bag with bobby pins for wigs; makeup bag with at least concealer, loose powder, lipstick, mascara, and eye drops, small sewing kit for any rips or tears you can fix by hand, Nintendo 3DS (when you're bored and hey, you Street Pass a lot of people!), phone and phone charger!
this video helped me so much. thanks. I love all of your bags and cases, even your phone cases, so cute! love your videos mango!
in mine/ours also are: Safetypins, hairpins, hairspray and deodorant! xD but mostly it's the same stuff!
mango x waterbottle is a ship now.
I like the bags inside of bags method of organization. :D Oh, duct tape! YES!
The only things I can think of that you didn't mention were extra camera batteries and feminine hygiene products! Even if you're not on your period, stuff a couple things in your bag in case a friend needs one!
Hi Mango I just wanted to say I love and appreciate all of your helpful videos! You've helped me gain confidence and start attending cons. There is no shame in a fancy Hot Topic lanyard, I'm happy with mine. And then your lanyard looks so much cooler than everybody else's generic lanyard! Personally I enjoy devising clever ways to incorporate bags into my costumes and doing in-character bags. I especially love my hip-bags, and drop leg bags, which are basically glorified leather fanny pacs and often look in character for adventurous types. Sassy.
i am a cosplay fursuiter. and i always keep an emergency hand sewing kit with 10 colors of thread ,a high temp glue gun and low temp, a brush , a stapler. extra zippers and half of a half yard of exstra fur (each color)
