Ladies, I'd recommend bringing tampons, pads or panty liners JUST IN CASE it comes early or if you're already on it. I know it sucks to be at a convention and have your period but it is sooo unsanitary to try and use one tampon or pad for the day.
You have everything sorted out!! Our cons here are waaay smaller so half of this never crossed my mind but once I manage to go to a bigger one this will come in handy!
I would bring the makeup I would be using because for all you know you might start crying or it might start raining outside and your makeup gets ruined and it all is in the hotel room or at home so I would bring it in my bag for cosplay!
hey , how much stuff do you need to bring to fix cosplays? I've never been to a con or cosplayed before and would like to know because my first con is in july and I'll be cosplaying.
I brought tissues. Lots and lots of tissues. There's always that one anime or AMV that will make you cry buckets. Also: facial tissue serves for toilet paper if you find out too late that the stall you just used has run out of t.p.
Holy shit I literally bring no more than money, snacks and a lot of space to store stuff in xD Well the cons I go to are way smaller than Anime North as well
I know I'm literally 9 years late, but this video was SO SO helpful! I've never been to a con, but I'm super excited to change that. I love that you included all the things that you never really think about until you're hot, dehydrated and elbows deep in art on your 3rd day. So helpful for newbies like me! :D
@curiouscloudy Your advice came in super handy!! I went to my first con in december and it was a BLAST! I had so much fun and I was prepared for anything lol
I love anime cons, even though I've only been to 2. ^-^ I really want to go to another one over the summer and maybe even go to more events because I haven't been to alot of those. I've never really brought a bag to the cons I've gone to but now that I think about it I probably should
At Comic Con they were giving free poster tubes with shoulder STRAPS on the for easy carrying around the convention so I would advise getting those tubes with a carry strap.
I dont know if you have/need one of these but its handy for streaming anime but bring a wi-fi hotspot device as well as some thing to read if you run out of juice on your computer or phone or whatever ;)
I have this horrible habit of forgetting my convention badge at my house or in the hotel room. Once I was driving to a convention with my mom and I started freaking out because I forgot my convention badge but luckily my mom got a badge too so she gave me hers. Thx for the idea of putting my convention badge on my backpack XD that's really going to help in the future!
I'm gonna attend my first anime convention nxt week and this vid. totally helped me. Thx so much :D and WAITT!!!! Is that Usa-chan?!! O_O Are you a fan of Ouran Host Club??!! XD
What I took to my first convention (very helpful actually): Note: some cons have different rules for bags than others. My con had a bag check at the gate if you couldn’t just view inside so bring a tote bag vs a purse -Deodorant -Charger (taking pictures and video’s drains battery ) - Plastic Folder (you know your gonna buy that Bakugou print, don’t lie to me) - Lip balm/ Lip gloss( eating, drinking, and doing that nervous thing where you rub your lips together will wear off lip balm. Especially if the Ac is kicking or it’s cold out....well it’s summer as I write this but yknow) -Water!/Snacks! (Check your conventions rules for bringing in outside drinks/food first though) - Makeup wipes/ skin wipes (you’ll sweat which means things come off or your skin will get oily af. Not a fun feeling)
If youre competing in a cosplay event you should bring all your materials for the competition, video, songs, voice overs, pictures, props, laptop if you need it. Also, I bring a list of everything I need for the convention TO the convention. Makes it easy to remember everything during the day when I need it and also when Im leaving for the day. And youre gonna wanna bring your makeup like someone said and your hair tools in case you need a touch up. Or even if you need a touch up for your costume armor or props, it might help to have some of that onhand, if its not too heavy or messy. Alot of poeple bring business cards to the cosplay but Im not willing to pay for business cards, I will just bring small print outs or small hand written pieces of paper with my contact info on it. Just print a few pieces of paper with your contact information appearing on each piece of paper repeatedly, cut them all out, or cut a sheet of paper into small pieces and write yor information on each piece.
what if it doesn't match your cosplay? I know it sounds stupid, but I'm going in with a semi ballgown, and wearing my big black backpack isn't that great with it.
If you have a ballgown and someone asks for photo's, just throw it under there!! It's great to hide, no one will steal it and when you're done, just grab it from underneath and head off!
When I cosplay I just put my bags down when someone asks for my pic. Or if its like a group photo, we all put our bags in the same place and take a picture together.
Well, hopefully you backpack doesn't contrast too much in color. But it doesn't really matter, honestly. If you're going with someone else and they won't be in the picture, kindly ask them to hold your bags. Or, like other people have said, put it under your gown near your feet.
I've only been to one con and while I got a pass for all three days, I was just so tired, so my mum is only getting me a one day pass this year for my birthday :). Also I would advise to bring a trolley if you can. I didn't take one last year, and I was stuck carrying around my bag, my lunch and the mech I got. (I didn't use a backpack :(...) Also thankfully the con is at a place I go to for the Sydney Royal Easter show so I know the lay-out. I also happend to take the train there, but it isn't that far from the con. Also thanks for some of the tips, I will also have more money this year so I get more Hetalia :D.
THINGS IN MY CONBAG: ID !!!! I AM clumsy so I have one of those cheap pocket first aid kits, a travel sewing kit for cosplay emergency (also duct-tape), basic make-up for cosplay basic travel meds: Pepto-Bismal (also DONT eat the pizza at the DT lol), Tylenyol, Votarren (topical muscle cream see above re: clumsy). A pocket umbrella or rain-poncho if it looks like rain (it looks like rain this year 2014)
(this is for the people who cosplay at cons) Bring a small cosplay repair kit! Not all cons have stations that you can repair your cosplay at. Trust me, it really helps to have that on you.
You don't have to have a cosplay, but if you're wearing a cosplay, you want to wear your cosplay TO the con. Putting on your cosplay at a con is living hell so put it on when you wake up, like regular clothes, go to the con/ walk proudly in the city with your cosplay on and arrive to the con with your stuff already on.
Could you record some panels of Anime North and uploaded it to your RUclips channel, please? I would love to hear some of the news at the convention. I would be so grateful if you did.
At my fist convention I didn't bring a camera............ and I didn't have a phone so I was really mad that I couldn't take pictures but my friend had her phone but the front camera only work some of the time so.........
Here's the thing with plastic bottles: You don't want to leave them in your car, esp. if it happens to be a hot day. The water won't be any good if you do.
Depends on who you are, how much you're willing to spend, and what you want. Art prints range from $10-$20 (usually always $20) for one and maybe $30 for two from the same artist. It depends on the size and who the artist is sometimes. Whenever I go to cons I buy shit loads of prints so I spend well over a hundred dollars on just art. Then to top that off, normal merchandise isn't cheap either. Keychains can reach up to $10 and pins $3, figurines way over $20 usually and plushes about $15 and up. So cons are super expensive and if you're going to one, you should be ready to spend A LOT. And don't not bring any money if you're telling yourself you won't buy anything 'cause I can guarantee you'll find something unique there that you'll really want and then you'll be upset cause you didn't bring cash.
whenever I go to cons, I usu ally coaplay and I alway bring my cosplayers makeup and makeup wipes because you never know when you're going to touch up or something.
I really feel sorry for pale people or people who get sunburnt easily because I would always forget to put on sunscreen and I hate the feeling of sunscreen itself.. but woah, I've never even seen SPF 60! O-O ok I've never put sunscreen on in my entire life... I've never got sunburnt and I am kinda tanned but I don't really like it.. But this will definitely come in handy for the con I'm going to next weekend!
gaming with Oivia And Mia you could go with your parents but if they want my take you you're out of luck and you'll just have to wait but if an adult brings you when you're 12/13 you could go around alone but you'll need a ride and someone to pay for a few things. Maybe ask for a trip to a con as a Christmas or birthday present
I'm gonna go attend my first con in my life after watching anime for over 10 years YEASSS I'M SO EXCITED WHOOP WHOOP
Same Just For me its 5 years later Lmao
Ladies, I'd recommend bringing tampons, pads or panty liners JUST IN CASE it comes early or if you're already on it. I know it sucks to be at a convention and have your period but it is sooo unsanitary to try and use one tampon or pad for the day.
Good call.
XHikarixxx Good call. Though I certainly hope not. That would be so unfortunate.
lol
XHikarixxx Noted~
Meli Honey defintely
You have everything sorted out!! Our cons here are waaay smaller so half of this never crossed my mind but once I manage to go to a bigger one this will come in handy!
Thanks for watching!! ^^/
same
I would bring the makeup I would be using because for all you know you might start crying or it might start raining outside and your makeup gets ruined and it all is in the hotel room or at home so I would bring it in my bag for cosplay!
Also, bring a small kit of sewing supplies such as needles and thread, just in case your costume tears of breaks.
hey , how much stuff do you need to bring to fix cosplays? I've never been to a con or cosplayed before and would like to know because my first con is in july and I'll be cosplaying.
I'm going as Edward Elric ^ ^ but the things you've mentioned so far has been a great help thanks ^^
Nikōru-chan does this rule apply even if you didnt make your own cosplay (like you commissioned the outfit from someone else)?
I think it does cause even a cosplay you didn't make can have malfuntions.
This is a tip more for cosplayers but if your wearing a wig you should defiantly bring a wide tooth comb! It helps out a lot!
I always bring my 3ds so I get a lot of street passers
Allyson Manchester
YOU ARE SO SMART
THANK YOU
Omg yes
Genius!
Omg I never thought of bringing stuff to keep my merch organized. Thank you!!
that Usa-chan stuffy is so cute ^_^
I recommend bringing deodorant, you never know when you're gonna sweat and you get sweaty stinky armpits lolol
Lolol
[looks at Usa-Chan in the background]
I appreciate this
[claps]
I brought tissues. Lots and lots of tissues. There's always that one anime or AMV that will make you cry buckets. Also: facial tissue serves for toilet paper if you find out too late that the stall you just used has run out of t.p.
So excited for Anime North this year! It's my first con, so I'm watching every "How to, guide and what to bring to a con" video in existence :3
I see all of the volumes of Shugo Chara in the background...

SHUGO CHARA
Hand sanitizer is a must!

This has to be the best tip video on what to being I've seen. I've been looking around a lot.
I love anime cons, even though I've only been to 2. ^-^ I really want to go to another one over the summer and maybe even go to more events because I haven't been to alot of those. I've never really brought a bag to the cons I've gone to but now that I think about it I probably should

The folders are so smart, Ive never thought of that before!
I dont know if you have/need one of these but its handy for streaming anime but bring a wi-fi hotspot device as well as some thing to read if you run out of juice on your computer or phone or whatever ;)
yvespandora good advice
Thank you!I'm going to a anime convention on dec 28th 2019 and I'm so excited!!
Although this was 6 years ago, this was really helpful! Thank you! 💕
This is super helpful. Thank You. I'm going to Anime Expo in June and it's my first con and my first time cosplaying ❤
Good times. I remember watching this the first time I went. Fourth time this year! Who are you cosplaying as?
Thanks for this video!!! I'm going to a convention just in a few days and I really want to go prepared!!! Thanks a lot!!!
You travel soooo prepared lol. I have a con in July and this will help me adjust my planning.
I'm glad you found this helpful!!

Thank you so much! There is a convention next year and I know that I can rewatch this video!
USA CHAN!
Do I see shugo chara?!?!?
A sewing kit and small first aid kit is very handy, you never know when your cosplays (or you) are going to need repairing.
I'm gonna attend my first anime convention nxt week and this vid. totally helped me. Thx so much :D and WAITT!!!! Is that Usa-chan?!! O_O Are you a fan of Ouran Host Club??!! XD

THINGS IN MY CONBAG:
ID !!!!
I AM clumsy so I have one of those cheap pocket first aid kits,
a travel sewing kit for cosplay emergency (also duct-tape),
basic make-up for cosplay
basic travel meds: Pepto-Bismal (also DONT eat the pizza at the DT lol), Tylenyol, Votarren (topical muscle cream see above re: clumsy).
A pocket umbrella or rain-poncho if it looks like rain (it looks like rain this year 2014)
...what's wrong with being a tanned version of your character?....I'm tan.
What I was thinking...
Thank you, Still helping me in 2017!
(this is for the people who cosplay at cons) Bring a small cosplay repair kit! Not all cons have stations that you can repair your cosplay at. Trust me, it really helps to have that on you.
For an anime convention do we have to wear a cosplay once we get there?

First convention I went to: lost tickets before i got into the line
Let's hope this time it goes well..

Could you record some panels of Anime North and uploaded it to your RUclips channel, please? I would love to hear some of the news at the convention. I would be so grateful if you did.

ANIME NORRRTHHH. Man i never thought of making cards!
what cameras do you use?
omg i have that exact same camcorder
My cousins went to anime conventions and I'm really jealous xd
How much do the stuff you buy at cons usually cost lol?
Lepia Desu I heard it was around 200$ or something like that (idk for me, I never went to an anime convention)
Depends on who you are, how much you're willing to spend, and what you want. Art prints range from $10-$20 (usually always $20) for one and maybe $30 for two from the same artist. Between $1 and $200 depending on what con you're going to.
I'm going to a Con this year (my first time) But they don't allow bags -_-
Jeremy Cosplay well thats a stupid rule...
whenever I go to cons, I usu ally coaplay and I alway bring my cosplayers makeup and makeup wipes because you never know when you're going to touch up or something.
This really helped! Thank yew!
OMG I LOVE MARGINAL #4!!!!!!

HONEY SENPAI IS WITH US ALL

You dont like that you're tanned? What?
I dunno, I like the look of pale skin more. But it really depends on my mood, sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't
***** What is your race/nationality? And i do kinda agree that a pale skin is more appealing in my opinion.
Oh, I'm german ^^
I don't even know why I like pale skin more. Maybe it's because I'm influenced by so many people/youtubers with pale skin xD
***** probably so
I love love anime and I see all of those anime things and then u just see me☹️ I have like nothing anime on my life so sad but I really love anime
Mirgnal #4!!!
IM GOING TO ANIME EXPO :DD yaaaa

*I use SPF 60, because I’m pale*
Hides red spot on skin after my friend lightly pinched me.
Who else is watching this in quarantine 😔
I suggest always have cash xD dont even bring your card, its easier to stay in budget (:: and hard to over spend on money you dont have (::
Usa-chaaaaaaan!!! XD
I want to go to a con but I'm only 10 years old..... I freaking sucks
gaming with Oivia And Mia you could go with your parents but if they want my take you you're out of luck and you'll just have to wait but if an adult brings you when you're 12/13 you could go around alone but you'll need a ride and someone to pay for a few things. Maybe ask for a trip to a con as a Christmas or birthday present
gaming with Oivia And Mia Go to one! I'm only eleven, but this is my second time! Any cosplay is a good cosplay!
i bet no one will ask for pics because im chara so she looks normal
Anyone else like, "W-WHAT?!" when she said she was pale?
for anyone that uses their phone or camera a lot id recommend a portable charger and EXTRA cables incase one of your friends forgets theirs.
You seem so cool I want to be friends :)
Anime gmfup ... Kcon is better 😁 wait how the f*** I got here 😭
