The differences between Ford 9" and 8" rear ends

Is it even worth using a factory Ford 9-inch housing with all the aftermarket housing available? Serious question, I'm thinking about going with a 9-inch in a mild drag car. I found some factory used ones in my area.

Cost for me do to this....$100....cost of new after market housing $1200....
