I love my 650!! I have gone through so many tires though. Do you recommend a tire that won’t cost me? I am currently driving with a bubble in my tire but it sucks paying $500 a tire. Help before my husband makes me get a different car!!
Glad you love the 650 as well!!! It’s definitely a fun car....that being said a fun car means spirited driving aka tire wear! Through all the tires that I have gone through, the Michelin Pilot 4S stands out as far as performance/longevity. I ran continental extreme contact dws06 (because of all season capability/treadwear rating) but found the side walls to be very weak. Had two punctures with those. Hope that helps, and you won’t have to get a different car!! Lol. Keep me update on how everything goes. Good luck 👍🏻
Also I forgot to add, many tire places (example: tire rack) has pretty decent road hazard warranties. If you have a bubble, you might be able to get replacement at a prorated amount or even a complete one.
Another question about tires. I just called about the Michelin’s and my tire guy said it wasn’t a good idea to put non run flats on this car. What are your thoughts about this? Heard the exhaust on your 6 and it sounds so good. I might have to convince my husband about that next!!
Running non flats do have a risk because your car doesn’t have a spare. For me personally, and many of my friends who owns high performance cars do not equip run flats. I had continental extreme contact dws06 (non run flats) and had punctures to the sidewalls due to potholes. Never had a problem with the Michelin’s. Also, I love my exhaust!! Pop pop!!
Christina Boyce I took off the factory runflats on my 335i, n went thru super sports pretty fast, right now I have pilot sport A/S. I would say they got more tread, only downside is that there less for sporty driving. I hear P zero's r good bt I would go w 4S's all day.

am a BMW fan but knowing what will cause a hole in your pocket is important and i figured out that to remain in a low maintenance range then avoid 2018 and lower BMW models that are ending 50i's like this one 650, the v6 in here have a very common problem of heating up causing the coolant leaks . BMWs best work are inline six cylinder engines. models that are ending in 40i's

Im from UK and have a 640d m sport. Surprising the car is cheap to run. Road tax £170 a year. Fuel economy 50mpg highway in town 35 -40 mpg. I had a 320d m sport estate. The 6 series costs effectively 20% more to run. My car is not brand new I bought 70% cheaper than new as the 6 series deprecated massively as people think they are very high running costs. This is not the case if you buy the diesel. I know American market is mainly aimed at petrol but diesel in my opinion is a great balance of performance and running costs. The 313bhp Diesel engine produces a huge amount of torque so the performance is surprising. 0-60 5 seconds stock. I got my car mapped and not it’s 4.3 seconds 0-60 and I still achieve good mpg.
Thank you for insightful post. I’m not sure if the 640d was even offered to North America. The 640 petrol here with the inline 6 was a much more reliable car, and cheaper to own. 4.3 0-60 is great numbers. Glad you enjoy your car
You got twin turbos. More headache. The 640i also gets 50mpg on a long run but 20s around town. Diesel value 640d is dropping, but the 640i n55 is holding it up. Long term you'll regret not having the petrol once diesel issues kick in...
Dimitri Lewis he paid $1900 because he went to the dealer and had all 4 lines replaced oem. You probably went to an independent shop that hacked the repair.

who's attacking, sensitive men out there. He dropped $110k + tax + upgrades - more like $125k...that's plain stupid. For that money, u could Swap A Lease for 10 yrs on different rides every 2 yrs at $1,000 a mth & no maintenance
Great video--I know your struggle. I had a 650im which I loved and hated. My friends called it Uma, the German super model. When the car felt like running it was a 10. And then there were the days of constant modules going out, electrical defaults, etc. I took all I could from the prima donna and went and got an F-150 and haven't looked back since. I do catch one on the road now and then, still great looking cars, I just know what happens when you get "her" home.
I owned a 740IL some years ago for about 2yrs and sold it to keep from going broke. I now own a MZB SL500 and although it runs good, I've had to spend more on Maint. & Repairs then I would have liked. Thought I'd keep it as my retirement car but I don't know?!
If you planning on going thu alot of tires due to road hazard, get your tires from discount tires. Free replacement. They save me alot of money in tires in all my life of driving
Very smart, have you seen Doug demuro's review of the CarMax warranty? She has been very successful with them on his Range Rover, it's funny though when you look up reviews of their warranty they are very bad LOL
Mechanics tend to know how to read you and know what exactly you’ll pay to maintain your car. I have a 6 Series as well and something as simple as a side turn signal bulb cost $40. Floor mats are expensive but looks cheap… no branding, so they can look like someone just cut them out of house carpet and selling them. I like my branding, this way I know it’s authentic.
Two hundred bucks for a cabin air filter is absolutely insane takes about 5 minutes to change it on the filter itself cost about 40 bucks. Not sure where this guy lives but here I live in Florida 6 series are a dime a dozen you see him everywhere
Used to work at pep boys Michelin pilots were literally 300$ a piece but bottom line is these cars aren’t crazy expensive to maintain they cost a little more then the average Japanese car but your not replacing half of those things often oil change is the only constant reoccurring maintenance but filters tires unless you fry them brake fluid and all other fluids have longer life spans lol this isn’t a Lambo or a Ferrari it’s just a standard bmw
Are you 1st or 2nd owner ? All ‘17 models come with free basin maintenance for 36/36k miles. Also, you paid too much for the Super Sport tires (around $1400 out the door at Discount Tires). After my maintenance warranty expired, I stopped going to Schomp and Murray and started to use independent shops and had no issues.
Did the 2012 and later BMW 650i with the 4.4 liter dual turbo V8 fix the problems associated with the earlier 4.8 liter V8 that was in the pre-2012 models? The pre-2012 650i was known for leaks.
20k???? I been looking at 2014 640i convertibles under 50k miles for around 25k... should have saved up a few more g and went with the newer body style, the 2010 is outdated looking imo. good luck with ur new car
should have bought the 640D much better on fuel and just as fast...As for the tyres throw those run flats soon as they wear out and replace with michelin pilot sport 4s they totally transform the ride. for a spare you can buy a new front wheel which will fit the rear as well just to get you home.
And this is why I stay away from bmw, audi, Mercedes ect.. Those repair prices are more than my current vehicles value.. And half the price of the house I live in 🤦♂️
Good lord, man. Go to a discount tire shop and stop going to the actual BMW dealership and find a good Bimmer specialist. You’ll spend half the money that you have.
while under warranty you can't just do shyte. something breaks they want proof oil changes etc were done by qualified people. Buy these out of warranty and your good. They are not this expensive to own and drive
Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.....nnnn, I have a 2010 650i. Breaking my mofo pockets, but I drive it like a Chevy-thus Im an idiot. He's not lying about the cost, I'd killed myself with cost with his year.
hmm tirerack has the staggered 20s for 1k for a set of 4 all seasons, i do see some for close to $500 a tire but those are performance summer tires. with the warranty you only came out of pocket maybe $300, and then the cabin filter might want another mechanic or DIY. do you still have this car out of warranty?
I'm interested in one as a toy to go alongside my C63s for my daily commute. Price in the UK...£3995 pre-negotiation. A low mileage one, i can get for £5k. I'm seriously considering one to thrash around.
Are the Michelin Pilots run flats? I was told that because my tires were high performance there was no warranty. They are so low profile that I have had to repair rims too. Another thing I have learned with this car is that it eats so much oil. Once I get used to this car I am going to ask husband for louder exhaust. He created this monster....I am so in love with the twin turbos!! I don’t know if I can drive anything else.
Unfortunately the Michelin Pilot 4S are not run flats. You could look into the Pirelli P Zero PZ4. They have a treadwear rating of 320. I usually get my tires through tire rack. The road hazard warranty is the included in all tires....high performance and all. Definitely something to look into. I get them l, and then have a local shop mount/balance for me usually $60-$70. I do agree on the oil consumption, but most BMWs love to drink that oil. I’m also looking to do an exhaust upgrade; currently have the m sport exhaust. You can check it the sound on my instagram @banuntil. Vroom vroom !!
Timmy Howard There’s a reason these cars depreciate like crazy If the car is engineered to break down after certain mileage like most BMWs The only way to keep problem free by storing in your garage and never drive it
ThatGaming Dude yeah.... Glitchy electronics (mainly infotainment freezing, sensors not working or giving false reading). Upper oil pan gasket leak (BMW am I right ?)
After two years driving my F10 535d I'm now going to buy a 650i GC with the 449hp engine. But what do you guys recommend to do with the exhaust?? What is the best way to hear that awesome v8?
so since I've been looking into getting the e63 650i, I have seen people say to do the muffler and resonator delete with the cats left on. then you really get to hear that sick v8. btw did you get the car?
I’m 20 years old, full time caregiver, looking for at a 2014 650i Gran Coupe w 70k miles, i’m very firm on the choice of the car, I know that insurance fluctuates depending on ur age. I’m wondering how much do you pay for insurance? I live in the Orange County area and i’ve seen ppl pay 700 a month for insurance on a brand new car, what range would i most likely pay
Most likely around 500 get geico there good with young drivers and apply online just mark all the extra groups you’re in to get discounts but as a caregiver I don’t think you’ll be able to keep this car in my opinion but don’t listen to me if you really want the car
The crazy thing about this car is when it's 10 to 15 years old, the maintenance and up keep will still cost the same. Well it'll probably cost more for the up keep in 10 years. There are certain cars and trucks that will be expensive for life when it comes to keeping it running and on the road.
Cowloon - Yes true. I don't know what it is but so many owners of BMW and Mercedes don't take care of their cars and it's usually the more expensive models. That's probably one of the reason's why the value of them drop so much just after 10 years. Brand new they cost almost a hundred grand but 10/15 years later you can find several of them at small used car lots selling for under 20 with HIGH miles and $5,000 of hidden repairs that need to be done.
faznout yeah the original owners/ leasees gets rid of the car after it goes out of warranty.... the high maintenance/ repairs costs makes it depreciate more. Once it’s more affordable, people that originally can’t afford the cars buys them....then they can’t afford the routine maintenance, so then the car condition starts to falter. Vicious cycle lol.
For a person who cant afford a lot of cost for services and whants to have a very enjoyable ride , what is your suggestion ? 2014 650 i or 2014 mb cls550 ? ( sorry for my english )
Both will have HEAVY service cost and repairs. You can’t go wrong with either. Although in the 650i you have a choice of coupe, convertible or sedan (saloon). CLS is just four doors only
This guy is just bragging around. He never paid 110k for that car and even here in Germany full set of tires won't cost you 1800k. Stop flexin bro you make yourself look ridicilous
DerHalbeEuro lol. You don’t know anything about my finances, the only people that look ridiculous are internet keyboard warriors like yourself; projecting their own insecurities on a RUclips comment section. I’ll continue living my best life, and wish you the best!
Craig Gamble reliability is ok. No big problems so far... except for the transfer case. Parts are expensive and labor even more. Honda definitely gonna be waaaaay cheaper. Fun car though
Yes that is an expensive oil change but as I found out with my Jaguar since you only have to do it once a year or between 10000 and 15000 miles it's really not that bad. Hell my Ford Fusion cost the same as I change it three times a year LOL

who's attacking, sensitive men out there. He dropped $110k + tax + upgrades - more like $125k...that's plain stupid. For that money, u could Swap A Lease for 10 yrs on different rides every 2 yrs at $1,000 a mth & no maintenance
good insight. I plan on getting an M6 gran coupe next year.
+Raren0ise m6 gran coupe is the sexiest BMW!!!
Isn‘t it the expensivest one?
lmaol this kid still plays game and he gonna buy a m6 hahahahaah
Kwon11HD nahhh 7 and 8 series
Great video--I know your struggle. I had a 650im which I loved and hated. My friends called it Uma, the German super model. When the car felt like running it was a 10. And then there were the days of constant modules going out, electrical defaults, etc. I took all I could from the prima donna and went and got an F-150 and haven't looked back since. I do catch one on the road now and then, still great looking cars, I just know what happens when you get "her" home.
what year was yours?
i never had to spend anything in my 650. Its just the service i did from the last 4 years now.
Same man😎
I owned a 740IL some years ago for about 2yrs and sold it to keep from going broke. I now own a MZB SL500 and although it runs good, I've had to spend more on Maint. & Repairs then I would have liked. Thought I'd keep it as my retirement car but I don't know?!
Warranty is the word
When buying this car
If you planning on going thu alot of tires due to road hazard, get your tires from discount tires. Free replacement.
They save me alot of money in tires in all my life of driving
I'm considering the 640i because I live in LA and don't feel the need for a gas-guzzling V8 of the 650i.
D. M. Cook 640 is awesome as well. I love the body style of the 6 series in general. Enjoy !
I’m grabbing a 2012 in Black fully loaded from car max, gonna get their bumper to bumper warranty. Incredible car man.
brandon holden nice find!!! Enjoy! You’ll love it
Very smart, have you seen Doug demuro's review of the CarMax warranty? She has been very successful with them on his Range Rover, it's funny though when you look up reviews of their warranty they are very bad LOL
i got the 4 door 650I paid $1150 for crack ventilated crank hoses that caused check engine light
😫😫😫. Hurts
Forgot to mention that the factory warranty covers all that 🤔
Mechanics tend to know how to read you and know what exactly you’ll pay to maintain your car. I have a 6 Series as well and something as simple as a side turn signal bulb cost $40. Floor mats are expensive but looks cheap… no branding, so they can look like someone just cut them out of house carpet and selling them. I like my branding, this way I know it’s authentic.
I really wanted to buy one,but now I'm not too sure
did u buy it
Im asking myself the same question. Did you get it or nah
Cap
I had one of theese. They break down a lot. Every time I put my foot down something broke.
150$ oil change , it went up from $113?
Ha! Try owning an 850! The maintenance cost on car is astronomical. Used to be a daily driver, now only a fun time drive on occasion.
David Simpson nice bro!!! Love the 850. I can only imagine the maintenance lol.
The maintenance is absolutely free for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles.
Did the 2012 and later BMW 650i with the 4.4 liter dual turbo V8 fix the problems associated with the earlier 4.8 liter V8 that was in the pre-2012 models? The pre-2012 650i was known for leaks.
Yes. It's actually 2013 (started with the 2nd half of the 2012 production run) when the engine was redesigned.
Just picked up a 2010 650i coupe with 60k miles for 20 thousand.
Allen Lamb u got ripped off for that old shit.
Allen Lamb did they take you out to dinner first
You're in for a maintainence nightmare bro.
20k???? I been looking at 2014 640i convertibles under 50k miles for around 25k... should have saved up a few more g and went with the newer body style, the 2010 is outdated looking imo. good luck with ur new car
Nice car, congrats. Many like the new body but its a bit more boring. Also the older one has better steering feel with hydraulic steering.
Great video and what a nice car
should have bought the 640D much better on fuel and just as fast...As for the tyres throw those run flats soon as they wear out and replace with michelin pilot sport 4s they totally transform the ride. for a spare you can buy a new front wheel which will fit the rear as well just to get you home.
F that. Get a vette
$24,900 now.
You can buy the cabin filters on Amazon and replace them yourself and it won't cost $200. I do it myself all the time.
Doesn't BMW include maintenance for 3 years?
They do
Hey I just got a 650i it's white like yours. Just wondering if u still have your BMW and have you had any other major problems with it.
Great vid, What year is this car
I'll be picking mine up in about 1.5 yeas for 22k...easily.
Donony for sure man, they’re nice to enjoy. Just find a clean one, repairs are a pain.
Donony you can find one for 15k that has 50k-100k miles. Salvage title of course but who cares.
Get any of the later performance BMWs with the 6cyl turbos instead. More reliable, less expensive to repair.
And, you’re prediction was correct!
LOL "not alot of people see 6 series running around"
Come to Vancouver, Canada :'(
Merle Therrien going to be there in 2 weeks!!! Staying in gas town area.... any places you recommend ?
Michelin has a really good tire warranty if you keep up the rotations you can get money back if they prematurely wear
It’s impossible to “rotate” staggered/directional tires on any car, they are either left or right and or different size front to back.
I'm interested in one as a toy to go alongside my C63s for my daily commute. Price in the UK...£3995 pre-negotiation. A low mileage one, i can get for £5k. I'm seriously considering one to thrash around.
Yea your mechanic sees dollar signs when you come in cause most of what you mentioned is much cheaper
I love my 650!!
Or you can just do a lot of the regular maintenance by yourself like I do and save the $ 🤷🏾♂️
For real I would do the oil change on my own
Always get extended warranties. It's worth it.
They are often a rip-off, when you attempt to make a claim, they deny it
what year model is it please?
hey yo I have Michelin PSS also grabbed from Tire Rack less than 1K plus a rebate 👍🏽
Awesome thanks for this!
Ummmm, sometimes I get the feeling that some of the "youtubers" aren't being informative, as much as they are simply exclaiming what they own.
Why you would spend a $110,000 on a car is beyond me.
110 for a 650? isnt that what m6's go for?
Inaccurate video, ppl that take care of their cars will not have most of these problems
Timmy Howard my car is maintenance by BMW it’s entire life. Don’t worry about how it’s taken care of. ✌🏼
Timmy Howard
There’s a reason these cars depreciate like crazy
If the car is engineered to break down after certain mileage like most BMWs
The only way to keep problem free by storing in your garage and never drive it
What year is your car? How many miles? Thanks for video
Should i get a 2017 BMW 650i Grand Coupe M package for 41k with 42k mile?
Negotiate the price down if you can. Or get maintenance incentives. If it comes with a warranty at that price then yes
Cowloon Since you’ve own one, do you have any problems with the car?
ThatGaming Dude yeah.... Glitchy electronics (mainly infotainment freezing, sensors not working or giving false reading). Upper oil pan gasket leak (BMW am I right ?)
So basically ditch the beemer once it goes out of warranty...
Um no ditch it all together. Even in warranty its too much to maintain.
Beautiful car! Love the username - Kowloon is a great place BTW! Love HK!
Hello, what exactly is the problem with your transfer case? I have a 2013 650 gc and it seems having problem too.
This man could be in a track hawk
Track hawk didn’t exist when I got this 🙇🏻
@@cowloon7591 still bad investment. That thang ain’t worth over 45k today
Ummm. What year is it??
I'm only here for the rims. I want to put them on a 3 series f10 body
Tomas Zapata thanks for stopping by!
I have a set of four 20 inch staggered rims that came stock on mine I'd sell you.
Dealer maintenance prices
256$ for a cabin air filter???
There are certain cars and trucks that will be expensive for life when it comes to keeping it running and on the road.
faznout I completely agree. It’ll be rare to see many of these in good condition/ well kept after 10/15 years.
CLS is just four doors only
If you’re worried about something like and have no warranty I’d get a I6 bmw they’re way more reliable and you can still build decent oower
I just payed 6k for apark plug and fuel injector and my coolant hose
Sorry to hear that brother
This guy is just bragging around.
He never paid 110k for that car and even here in Germany full set of tires won't cost you 1800k. Stop flexin bro you make yourself look ridicilous
DerHalbeEuro lol. You don’t know anything about my finances, the only people that look ridiculous are internet keyboard warriors like yourself; projecting their own insecurities on a RUclips comment section. I’ll continue living my best life, and wish you the best!
how many miles do you have on it???
I’m looking at the same car right now for 30k no bullshit
How much do u pay of registration fees?
How's the reliability? I'm looking at buying one but now you got me second guessing myself with the $150 oil changes. Might just go Honda. lol
Craig Gamble reliability is ok. No big problems so far... except for the transfer case. Parts are expensive and labor even more. Honda definitely gonna be waaaaay cheaper. Fun car though
@@cowloon7591 thank you. I think you just saved me a lot of money
Yes that is an expensive oil change but as I found out with my Jaguar since you only have to do it once a year or between 10000 and 15000 miles it's really not that bad. Hell my Ford Fusion cost the same as I change it three times a year LOL
Dam... Just when I thought I had a goal to buy a car like this .. He hits u with the reality check.. Fahk.
Please I need your advise: I just put down payment for used 2013 bmw 650i grand coup with 67000 Km. Car is in perfect shape. my commute to work in the small town I live is about 10 mins. I visit to the cities in on weekends sometimes 1 to 2hrs max. I have winter car, so not intending driving the coupe in the winter. My question: Do I need to get 3 years extended warranty?
Just take it... What is 5k to 15k of potential repairs. It's a gamble.
Yes always on these cars trust me when they break it gets expensive
That's my car, a white coupe!!!
@LG -- Did you run into the ownership costs that Cowloon is talking about.
