Practice, man. I couldn't take a Cyclops in my Anaconda when I began, even with guardian weaponry, and lost most of the time... now I can easily solo a cyclops, and if i try hard i won't even lose 10% hull. There's a pattern you can follow. Still can't solo basilisks though :)

It's so easy, it only takes 30 minutes to do it. As much fast forwarding as was done should highlight just how ridiculously long it takes to kill one of these solo. Far smarter, faster, and more profitable to do it in a wing. That being said, everyone should do it once.
Ive seen an 12 minute medusa solo. its possible. you have to do a cold reboot after heart destruction. Then ram the goid as soon as your ship comes online. This takes the medusas shields down immediately. ruclips.net/video/F5RCsHaWnDA/видео.html
I know this is a year old comment but I have to point out that doing it in a wing is not easier, because of the invincible heart bug, which almost always happens when fighting a goid in a wing. This bug exists since 2017 and they still didn't fix it. The payout is shit, killing it requires insanse skills and time in solo (also, don't forget the grind for the equipment) - and that's where I draw the line for this game.
Something's very off here. Unless they buffed the Medusa's health, or nerfed the Gauss damage, there's no way you can exert its heart and destroy it that quickly without premium ammo. I tried the same exact build, and it takes at least thrice the amount of shots to do so. I call bullshit on that "no premium ammo" claim.

Is this another case of Humans not understanding the situation. Kill what we don't understand? Epic boss battle. I haven't even seen a Thargoid yet but only started playing again three weeks ago after taking a break before the xeno update. This looks like a lot of fun though. My cup of tea. Only I don't like the synthesis requirement. Farming Mats will ultimately get me to take another many years break.
I have a Cutter setup for AX but I usually run it without shields. Which lets me have a lot more heat sinks, hull and module reinforcements. Never had much luck with the flak launchers against a swarm. Will have to try that 3x configuration like you're using here.
I'm playing on ps4 trying to solo, can you or anyone please advise on targeting? On this vid and others I've seen, you (sub) target exerted hearts without going into the left hand control panel - how is this done and is it possible on ps4? Cheers. Nice vid BTW - like the sub titled commentary.
A control bind to select them without going into menu. My xbox controller is setup with A + left/right buttons to select previous/next subsystem, when a target is selected.

I'm booking up while waiting on my HOTAS to arrive so I can jump in as a slightly less nooby, noob. The Thargoids look really tasty and I could have some insane fun tearing off a piece of that. Seriously they look like enormous pastries or something. is there any information on their jump range, jump cycle time, fuel capacity? Do they have to scoop or regen their jump fuel or do they run on self regenerating magic faerie dust? Is their active heart their only weak point?
Im curious as to why everyone uses the gauss cannons over ax multicannons and shard cannons which from what ive seen, gets the job of exerting a heart done much faster. Please fill me in on the pros and cons
It doesn't have projectile travel time, as it is a hitscan weapon. Also it can destroy an exerted heart with just a very few shots. The only con I can think of is that you need heatsinks to fire them due to high heat generation. It really outperforms the other AX/Guardian weapons in pretty much everything imo.
@@WeskerFox yeah hitscan weapons in elite at least from what ive seen arent the most common thing. Idk i just dont see the damage potential but hey im not the guy at the stick
yeah also you shouldn't get hit by caustic missiles in the first place. But if you do just fire off SCBs without heat sink because 170% - 240% (it depends) heat will burn off the caustic substance.
He never said it was fast nor easy. He just said it's the easiest way to do it. Once you get the hang of Thargoid combat mechanics, though, it does get easy.

Will the medusa jump if you get to far away? I have had interceptors run when I've gotten beyond 7 k distance

How does your heat dissipate so quickly? I set up a FAS with 4 rail guns and I overheat too fast to really use them.

hmmm. i didnt know the flak cannon was still effective at that range. i think i might go hunt down a bug real quick and try this out again.
Numbers shown that those flaks were pretty effective
I've seen easier, just get a type 10, fill all the hardpoints with fixed shard cannons, rush it and spam

They do like 50 or 60 HP repair... pretty useless in that resort, they are only good for cleaning the acid.
