What Will $10,000 Get you? We show you how to get the most for your money on these trucks... The naysayers say it isn't possible...
The fact that Justin said yo I forgot to tighten that just shows how stand up he is! Most guys would play dumb. That's the type of guy you want working for you! You know without a doubt you dont have to question what he says and does.
Stand up honest guy!
Of course we want to see a $10k tow rig project. Even if it doesn't work it will be educational and entertaining as your videos always are
Well these trucks are already tow rigs from factory so go find a 10k f350 dually
@@brettknighten1171 We're not talking about stock normal trucks though. Every normal truck can tow but they are talking about a purpose built tow rig. We're talking more power, better cooling and suspension and probably some transmission upgrades so it can work harder than it was intended to, reliably.
Bro watch the videos of the yellow truck basically done!
I want to see a $10k tow rig using a standard toolbox, floor jacks, and jack stands. A realistic challenge that the standard viewer could accomplish.
@@BigBed6.2 your better off adding that extra budget to a newer truck instead
I have a 6.0l with 400k on it and still drive it on the weekends. It was the first diesel truck I ever bought and I just can't let it go.
There is good representation of taking responsibility in this video for you younger folk, justin explains where and why the hydro boost broke and it was his mistake and that in its self is awsome
Need a JH bobble head dash ornament
Great idea
JH i have a 03 lb7 crew cab with a 8 inch lift and 37s. And i rebuilt the motor in it and it has 2k miles on the rebuild and that thanks to u man u gave me the motivation to get the truck and fix it and im in it less the 7k thanks again man i watch every video u put out
Watch for transfercase leakage, the pump rubs a hole through the case! Friend went through 3 cases back 05 to 06 when he first got his and put larger than stock tires towing 5k lb trailers on fire roads (kinda steeper hills here out west) a couple times a year during hunting season.
They make a pump rub kit to protect the t case
What kind of pump are you referring to Don't laugh I'm no mechanic or anything but I do have a four-wheel drive truck I was just curious when I read your comment thanks
Jh “I think my brakes are messed up, lets run another 1/4 mile rip.” Lol RIP buddy
The biggest thing is having the facilities. So many people now are not allowed to even work on a vehicle (FK ALL HOA’s).
Biggest asset is having buddies that are into the same stuff. A camp.
No buddies = no builds
Yes on the hoa/ landlords. But you definitely don’t need buddies that are into the same thing to build a truck, definitely helps but a can do attitude and some effort will take you pretty far.
@@tjangel2212 no doubt but unless you want to spend a small fortune on tools you either outsource or have a buddy that gas you covered. Not saying its not possible but it is hugely advantageous to have a camp. Like 5-6 dudes with cars.
finally finished the video 3 comments later, i like seeing the more budget builds 10-50k the stuff that’s relatable and possible for the average person, while i love seeing full blown race car builds, and high end stuff that all the big youtubers do i love the more budget friendly stuff that you guys do on this channel plus you 2 are top notch to watch, keep it up i’ve loved watching your channel grow the last few years and hope you get to millions in the near future!
I bought an OBS 7.3 Powerstroke 4x4 for $800CAD and drove it home. Replaced injector o-rings, and a few minor things. I’ve owned the truck for 5 years, and tow my 25’ travel trailer with it.
I also got a 95 7.3 4x4 for $4000 less than a year ago, a few minor repairs and I have a solid truck with 280,000km. Like he said, deals are out there!
When your honesty shines you move people. Great stuff Jh.
21:20. In snow country. We crank the heater on with the AC set to recirculation. It pulls the moisture out of the air and clears all the windows quickly.
I bought my first 6.0 for 2500 off craigslist. Just bought my second for $1500. Lariat with 110k. Had a long crank issue was just a high pressure oil pump gasket. These trucks are out there
I’d love to see a $10k tow rig
Nothing is free if you want something go get it. What makes things great is that it's actually pretty hard to get done. Great job man!
6.0 Powerstrokes are like a golden market of opportunity. Most people do not diagnose & fix a 6.0 properly. So they sit then they get sold cheap. The scary part is they are relatively easy to fix. The trannys and motors don’t typically have catastrophic failures either. Maybe a bad lifter here and there will take down an engine. Other than that everything else is fixable in your driveway with out the need for a machine shop or a major short block teardown.
Great work guys. Justin and Justin putting in work 🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲
I got my 96 7.3 for $1000 back in 20, it's a 2wd sadly but I've had alot of fun in that truck, I've maybe got $5-6k in it now including buying it originally, with a built trans, hydra and a wicked wheel, deals are out there if your willing to fix some things
That budget bogger is sick af looking & I’m a Chevy guy
Back in 2007 we bought our first diesel truck. It was a 2001 dodge 2500 Cummins tow pig. It had 177k on the clock and we paid 9000 for it. We still have the truck but it's totaled. We bought another 01 for 6000 totaled it and now have an 03. Still paying for it but picked it up for 12,500. It is totally due able on a paycheck to paycheck budget!
My Pops has three 6.0’s, all bulletproofed. I’m trying to get my hands on his 03 excursion he calls the Whistler. It sounds just like your burnout truck, I freaking love it.. I wish I could afford any of those trucks you got sitting in your yard.. lol. My pops owns his own paver business that I work for here in Sarasota and I need a powerhouse to pull our machine around. You need pavers?? Lol
The key to this is find a deal on a truck to begin with and you can't be afraid to do your own work. A cheap truck 9 times out of 10 is just that. It's hard to explain how important a solid starting platform is.
Let's go JH respect to you and Justin watching from England keep at it your crushing it one hell of a team
Mainly a Duramax guy but Justin makes me want a 6.0 mud truck lol
I love that yellow truck! I told my gf I needa find one or build one similar
10g is absolutely possible. I just bought a 2006 5.4 f250 for $1900 sold the bed for $800 welded the rear diff, put an $18 fuel filter and a $150 starter on it. Bought brand new 43" baja pro xs tires for 4g and a $81 3" leveling kit.
Cut fenders extended the bu.p stops and hammered the pinch welds on the cab over. Tires dont even rub wheeled it for 3 days straight last weekend no isssues
I own a 6.0 and it’s a ripper love it keep up the good work
Bro, could you imagine if the whole Cleeter crew, JH and his boy all had bobble heads.. I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there. I would definitely get my hands on those… Lol. LETS GOOOOOOO…
You gave me the pep talk I needed about my project truck. Someone gave me a 98 s10. Want to put an ls in it. I haven't had a project vehicle in 20 years. With children and work, I've just only been talking about starting on it. Well, it is a passion of mine to make a solid sleeper. I'm gonna get to working on it. I appreciate the conversation! Just like you said, " it doesn't have to be perfect". Thanks bud!
Modern 4.3 syclone
keep your buddy Justin happy, thats important!
0:15 easier to get a car and a set of Dana or AAM axles front and rear, they ya just put a transfer case on it and for about $2000 and 3 weeks of shop time, 5 inch lift kit on a 1994 ford thunderbird that has a 4x4 AAM swap. driving around in snow is why, but its only 5 inches above stock height... stock ride height was like beer can high off the ground. can still be very low with solid 11.50 diffs. old vics sell for $300 to $1800... need those 4R70/5W/E transfer cases. tight 5 link suspensions not leaf springs, just drop a power stroke in it after the 4.6 lets go... bellhousing adapter plates are made for tons of different combinations of things... need those 4R70/5W/E 4R100 etc. transfer cases
Number 1 rule with marketplace sales, always have a friend on your hip
This guy..way too cool to wear his seat belt lol
Guys, my best friend and I were mud bogging on high-school budget. We bought cheap junk/ wrecked vehicles that ran and got dry rotted 3/4 bald tires with homemade lift and or cut fenders, maybe a spray paint job. We had a blast for a few hundred bucks. As we acquired more stuff, we got nicer trucks and parts. You CAN do it cheap. YOU JUST HAVE TO WANT IT.
They haven’t had rain in two months because it’s all in Iowa. We’ve gone from a 4 year drought to standing water everywhere in a month
Did you see if the air filter is still good on the bogger? probably struggling to get air if its full of dry mud water
Here In Wisconsin it's def 1000 times harder to find any type of half way ok mud truck for any type of deals. It all depends where you live and where you want to drive to for sure.
There's lots and lots of trucks in WI. Sure finding them where the frames not rotted out can be a bit of a challenge, but there's deals everywhere. Go look at 10 trucks on marketplace (might need to drive 100 miles each truck) and I guarantee you will find something suitable. You have to be willing to put in the leg work, and make the deal happen. If you try beating the guy up on price via text you have already lost. Go and look him in the eye and make a deal
Anything that's diesel or turbo within 100miles of me is going to be 8/10k$ even with the frame and body falling off of it 😂. Dosent even matter the make of the truck.
@@quadsquadfamily7484 Guess that's it then, it's just not possible. Might as well forget about it.
The tow rig is a good idea. It would be interesting if that’s possible or not.
For the budget bog truck, have you considered dual transfer cases? They’re big in the rock crawling community, and it’ll give you the low gearing you need. Plus the trucks long enough that you should still have good driveline angles.
"So for 10 grand, this is what you can get?" Had me laughing for 10 minutes.
BROTHER! When that deer hit the hard left turn I thought he was done for🤣 good thing he took another hard right turn back into the woods haha
Sure helps when you have a shop and spare parts everywhere..
For sure that always helps. But what he’s saying is if someone is motivated and knows how to hustle you can build something cool for around 10k and some elbow grease
What he is trying to convey I think is it is dedication and attitude towards the project, yes he has more at his hands then some but he started somewhere and it wasn't in his shop
Confidence and motivation are key.
Hater much?
Sure he didn’t start out that way and obviously worked hard for everything he’s got now
My first truck i ever bought was in ft. Hood texas in 2011 I bought a 06 f250 6.0 i paid $12,500 for it with 123,000 miles, 8" lift, 38s, and wvery banks part made for it was on it! The dealer also paid tonhave arp head studs put in! Wish i kept that truck I just was hard on it and got tired of working on it
Brother, I would love for you to do a tutorial on the 6.0L, what to look for, common problems and how to make them reliable and bulletproof without breaking the bank. Please do one, where I live you can buy 6.0L all day for cheap.
For price on the truck itself, sometimes local prices are just screwy: Texas trucks are super expensive as you saw with the yellow truck shopping.
glad to see you and Justin are back together.
I have the skills to build most of my projects only thing that I can't do is painting I've got everything to give it a try after I watching RUclips videos on how to do body work and painting. Bodies vision is who I have been watching....lol
Zone off-road is owned by fox they make pretty good stuff at good price
I find you can get good deals at action with fleet trucks most of the time they have been maintenced good and you can get a truck for sometimes a killer deal
If your a “ do it yourselfer “ he said budget builds are out there. If your a budget build or even short of “rich” then your a “do it yourselfer” period
Yes but people belive it is a unobtainable because they think they have to pay for it to be done
@@brettknighten1171 There's just way too many people out there with a "I can't do that" attitude today, and they're a lot of the ones that complain about how 'expensive' this is.
To think that people did this stuff before the days of the internet - it's 'easy mode' to learn something new today
@@RyTrapp0the internet has all the answers if you look around. There's a lot of forums out there.
This is a excellent explanation! Great content.
Yup got my 99 for 8300! Has a build trans with 14k miles its been the best vehicle ive ever owned!
I always tell people the cheap part is buying the 4wd, its the repairs and upgrades that cost the money. but its an awesome hobbie to get into if you can afford it.
I just bought a 2006 f250 crew cab short bed lariat 4x4 6.0 with 284k for 4k
My 06 6.0 did the same trick! 1,500 miles from home, pulling my camper, right after dropping $10k into it no less. Lol
I love my 6.0h but some weeks it pours for sure!!!! Replaced number 5 injector on Wed fan clutch on Thursday then hauled the camper up north dropped number 3 injector alternator that was brand new and the 2nd clutch fan. But at 257000 miles it's expected to have a issue now and then lmao
Built a 6 speed 7.3 for a 10k tow rig. Very doable and probably the best 10k tow rig to build i think
Need to put your dang seatbelt on both those trucks just beeping away driving me nuts 😂😂
Justin sayin it soundin like they ridin on D's is crazy !!!.
Florida Man
Maybe in Florida, but where I am things are either too rusted, or worth too much to do a 10K build. I wish we had those kinds of trucks for those prices.
Cleeyus came from money.... obviously. And you tagging along with him can't hurt.... I'm in nebraska 52 years old.... I'll turn some wrenches for ya!!
JH and Justin, y'all rock! Peace
All of us guys like JH need a friend like Justin, ready to have a good time BUT also a voice of reason sometimes know they are both Justin. Like hey buddy you sure you wanna do a 4wheel boosted launch the day before we take this to a competition?😂
Big thing to consider too is most guys do not have a lift
Do you need a lift for suspension or transmissions no but any motor work pretty much are screwed without a lift
Zones a decent lift. BDS and Zone are sister companies.
The 6.0 is probably second wort pickup diesel ever right behind the 6.4
Just a heads up. You can use gps for your speedo!
I know a good local towing company you can call for a tow. Cleet and squirrel will get u home.
Need to buy a dragy especially as cheap as they r
6.0l are lot fun. In 04 before diesel wore the normal I had it change the exhaust and intake and edge programer. And had hole
Lot fun
I once bought a set of 37 inch irocs..like new on marketplace..225$ for all 4..deals on there..
When it gets hot like that turn your heater on high and roll your windows down lol
If you want to start boggin for cheap get a 4 wheeler.
Showem how to do it jh. Make a video series where you have to borrow the tools and build everything out of your shop …
love my 7.3 diesel baby
Maybe there was mud in the wheels . Love the big truck !
And that is raw horse power for sure
"its really up to you how badly you wanna do somethin" yup
Bad radiator fan clutch
Too much rain in PA. Even out that situation
F-650 4x4 would be a cool to build maybe tandem rear axles?
Definitely want to see a $10k tow rig
You should take 10k from that 100k you won and build Easton/justin a mud ripper! You got enough abandon trucks in your lot to put him in something that would be a blast!!
Do a review of balance beads in the mud tires
How to do get involved. Get up and do it. That's how
Tea JH bobble head would be sick I would at least buy 4
“We can drain the water from the batteries to the radiator” 😂💀
I'd be hosing out the radiator and thermostat thoroughly
Do a 06 Duramax vs 06 F250 build. Budget tow rig. 15k max.
I have a completely different question then how to get in the game or all of that. I am curious what it costs to fully bullet proof a 6.0 doing it yourself, and having a shop do it (general pricing is fine, I don't expect exact numbers) I'm considering building an excursion for some off road/daily driver fun but I need something that will rival the reliability of a 5.7 tundra or better. I really just want to get away from monthly payments but really also want a solid axle rig. It's much easier to find a 6.0 in good shape. The 7.3 would be preferred but they are either hard to find, or way overpriced.
Take it bogging threw cleets pond 25:38
A tow rig 7.3/6.0 e350 you can get them for 2500 or less
6.0 is the best motor ever 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Really enjoy the content
I snapped a hydro boost after a replacement was installed on my 06. Makes sense that it wasn’t properly torqued. Also AC doesn’t work on that truck lol.
I wish you could add photos to these comments I have a 2006 f250 xlt ext cab that I traded a $4,000 dirt bike for I have worked on lots of 6.0 power strokes and this truck needs a bit of everything oil filter housing reseal hpop system testing ect…… my question to everyone is what is a truck that a mechanic has $10,000 into really worth on the market???
Mud bog truck , chain drive for gear change.
Tow rig challenge!!
Put some balance beads in them boggers, you wont feel that flat spot from sitting so bad.
It's funny how many people can't understand sweating profusely lol
I wish we could do it here in the UK 🇬🇧
